There is a profound and yet sober optimism in these films - that the world will better for all of us if we seek to understand it, and then use that understanding to solve problems. I love it.
Sometimes I wish life was as simple and optimistic as this portrays, everything (for me at least) feels very oppressive and manipulative. If this is so, how much feedback is needed to get things into balance. Then again, I probably need to get out more. Go for more walks. I love old films like this and the vision they had for the future though.
I actually did not know attempts to algorithmically mitigate auto traffic congestion began as far back as 1960, that was actually surprising to me. I wonder if today we asked random people in public*, how many would be familiar with this concept? (*not very scientific, but fun!) Anyway, so I'm here from the future, with a spoiler alert for 1960: we have tiny computers with GPUs. Traffic still sux. Try fewer cars!
