Greetings, you are so so great. I'm a young Gospel Music Minister and Music Producer, I have been looking for a Spirit filled Producer, and i'm so happy i found you. I really want to sit down and learn from you sir. God bless you
I totally agree with U on mixing with your mind and ears. Ears are the most important thing, mixing is all about fixing what we hear not what someone says somewhere or whatever.
Very good mix bro. I understand your drift about being unconventional and following your ears and instincts. That's cool. But before any upcoming mix engineer should veer off to improvise and do their thing, learning the fundamentals are important. I think that should be stressed especially for upcoming engineers. My professor told me, "learn the rules first, before you decide to break the rules". So I would aptly say, mix engineers need to understand the audio techniques like EQing, compression, saturation, spatial concepts (reverb and delay) and why things are the way they are, before beginning to make their own rules of the game. Mixing by the ear should also take cognizance of your environment (your room) and its peculiarities. What you may be hearing could be deceptive and coloured by the imperfections of your room, hence the need to use references. Goodluck bro and God bless you.
