- 2021/22 winter big wave season kicked off with a swell that hit Peahi aka Jaws. Featuring surfers like Kai Lenny, Ian Walsh, Billy Kemper, Trevor Carlson, Jamie Mitchell, Luca Padua, Jojo Roper, Francisco Porcella and more.
Big waves and clean conditions made this a paddle day at Jaws.
A good start to the winter!

Kemper has amazing positioning skills. He learned from his elders and took it to another level. That's how 100% you know they all proud of him and the rest of crew.
What I especially liked about Billy (and some of the others) was he was charging from the git go. Well forward in his stance, barrel hunting. It's awesome.

Wow, that's unreal footage, and posted only two days after it went down. Incredible big wave surfing! Mad props for the filming and editing, great song choice too, I've used the first song in a ropeswing edit and it works so well for both! :)

Saw these monsters in Maui when I was living in Kehei 38 years ago. We would hear high surf advisory on the radio and that meant grab your boogie boards and surf boards and head to the beach

What is amazing to me that surfers actually rode these big waves where in the past they just held on to dear life . They drop in ,carve the wave tuck into those huge barrels maybe not as deep as you could possibly go but still far deeper than the past . Not sure if the boards have changed much as they look like guns (long thin and fast )

Flare signals are internationally known to be used in sea rescue. Not to be used as a gimmick riding big waves. Pretty sure in Australia you can be given a hefty fine for the incorrect use of flares. Silly Kai

Sorry but Mavericks is the dark side of the moon! Peahi is the light side and deserves music that is uplifting and not depressing like this whole album! It may sound cool but the darkside is no match for the Goddess of fire! :):):)
You are right about Mavs. Cirque Du Soleil's CD "Totem" has the perfect song for Pe'ahi - "Ome Yo Kanoube." It would be PERFECT!!!!!

amazing video, 4K, 2K so smooth. Normally when using a drone it's glitchy frustrating to watch probably some of the best footage ever. Super smooth easy to watch and the shots are amazing.

All I could say when this video started was, OH F*CK...OH F*CK...etc. I remember when this place was first surfed, and it was said by those guys: one day we'll see surfers actually surfing these waves like 'ordinary' waves. Not just taking the drop and staying away from the lip, but slicing up the wave face. Well it became true. AWESOME FOOTAGE!
