Sonny said the horse is a long distance runner and that he knew how to ride the horse. Well, Sonny really knew how to take advantage of that in the Derby. It was a team magic moment; it was all about knowledge, connection and trust each other. Very proud 💛💙❤
The horse, Rich Strike, can see to his side without turning his head . He turned his head as his rider, Sonny, was signaling him to turn into his right lane and move over for the pass.
Venezuela has always been a horse racing country and they have had horses and other jockeys who have won the Kentucky Derby. Excellent race by Sonny Leon. He's made Venezuelans proud.
Congrats to the amazing duo, Rich Strike and Sonny Leon! Sending love and thank you for bringing so much joy and inspiration to millions of people who watched the 148th KD. You just showed us to NEVER GIVE UP and DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’in yourself.
The world needed this. All this depression and anxiety everyone has... it meant the world to us. You can overcome anything no matter what someone else or yourself says about you.
Don't forget, based on starting position Rich Strike actually ran farther than any other horse! That race announcer needs to pay more attention to ALL the horses.
Please re-watch the 1973 Kentucky Derby. I know the expectations for Secretariat were much higher than they were for Rich Strike, but Secretariat was dead last going past the grandstand the first time.
Miracles do happen. When it seems we are flooded with despair and defeat ~ hoping for a life raft to pull us back to a “safe place” ~ a sincere hand reaches out to remind us NOT TO GIVE UP!!! Thank You!!! Do Not Lose HOPE!!!
What I love about this horse and this race, is that 99% of the people did not pick this 80 to 1 long shot, most people did not win money on Rich Strike, people lost money betting on other horses, yet we will ALL say, we love that Rich Strike won this race, and this was the greatest race we ever saw. That alone is a beautiful thing. Yet, once we learn all the facts of a truly epic great story, does not matter how invested we were initially, we fall in love with the horse, his owner, the jockey, the whole team, and the story of literally over coming ALL the odds stacked against them. The owner had a tragic barn fire 2 yrs ago, Rich Strike was purchased for $30,000, originally Rich Strike was not even supposed to be in the race, he was a last-minute fill-in for a scratched horse. Rich Strike was a 80 to 1 long shot, which made this the biggest upset in horse racing history. In the first few seconds of the race Rich Strike was dead last, at one point in the race it did not look like Rich Strike was going to be able to make it through the huge pack ahead of him. Against all odds, literally all odds, this horse ran down the entire field and won the Kentucky Derby. That will give a lot of people hope for themselves and others, for what we are going through in life. So even though millions of people did not win a dime on Rich Strike, we still love the fact that Rich Strike and the entire team won. This literally was the greatest horse race ever. God what you did for Rich Strike and his whole team, please do for America.
Dude, it's the 148th Kentucky Derby, not the 138th. His odds at post time had dropped to 80-1. The payout was on those odds. A similar thing happened in the 2009 Kentucky Derby that Mine That Bird won. His odds were 50-1. He was last most of the way by a huge margin, so much so that the announcer forgot he was back there and had to correct his race call because he called another horse in last place that was ahead of Mine That Bird. He came up the rail on the turn in the mud, and passed all the horses and won with a huge lead at the end. The announcer was also stunned at the end. You can find this race on UA-cam. It's definitely worth watching.
When that horse looked at the other one it kinda reminds me of when Deion sanders said he doesn’t race he chases he always runs his fastest when he’s trying to catch up to someone and it seemed the horse did the same thing
… he held his line into the final turn… the whole middle of the pack went wide… he had plenty of room and moved inside along the rail… the zig-zag move down the stretch got him the win… amazing…
Hi. I noticed you used my edit where I messed up the 138th annual title. I removed that video out of request to change the title to the correct one. I'm humbled and grateful you saw it because I can't have it up anymore due to a copyright claim :( Feels awesome to see you using my video even though it was the one with the messed-up title.
There have been some stunning, unbelievable upsets before, but nothing like a horse entering the last furlong in a thicket like that with EIGHT horses to go. The only other horse I can think of that might have pulled it off is Zenyatta.
3:24 Does anyone know why he pulled the horse to his right and into some traffic when he could have gone straight along the rail and avoided running into more traffic? It there a strategy where a horse will run faster if he/see another horse speeding up and is that a reason the jockey did so?
He saw a better hole to shoot into, that's all. The rail was going to get crowded. Once he got clear of the horse in front of him, it was wide open to the finish.
The inside was what they call squishy, or soft and when you make a move to the inside it is a dangerous place...better to make your moves to the outside if there's room...Sonny Leon is a helluva rider..
From this amazing horse story race ever and from this I’m a fan of derby from swimming to horse racing.. but I have 1 question and I’m sorry I don’t understand what is the meaning of 1-80? Please help me understand this
That first half mile pace slowed down finishers like Zandon at the end, couldn’t have scripted it better for Rich Strike, do you think the Preakness will have a slower start ?
I felt mixed emotions everytime I watch this video i was in tears of Joy when his trainer eric reed lied down when he finally seen his horse get first to the finish line and his friends where all happy the daughters wish is 9th place she couldnt believe her eyes rich strike won the Kentucky derby
*"Anyone who is not investing now is missing a tremendous opportunity." Imagine investing $1,000 and receiving $11,300 in 3 days profits, Ms Becky is the best.🇺🇸🇺🇸*
One thing I have noticed is, SOMETHING needs to be done to make the horse and jockey stand out from one to the other. WAY too easy to lose where "your" horse is in the middle of the pack. Make the horse and jockey one solid color and different from the others. And 2, clearly Rich Strike was the fastest horse. That's why he won.
1:12 get it right with your graphics, this was the 148th KD not 138th. Lost credibility/accuracy of info on your channel. Why you feel you need to put your image boxed, of you watching the race, for others to see your reactions is 🤔.
@Richard Grisworld Secretariat deserves the praise and respect he most certainly earned, but why you gotta try to steal Rich Strike's thunder? This was HIS time (now) and HIS race. Nobody's trying to take anything away from Secretariat's success.
Cool video despite this guy (the commentator) not knowing what he's talking about. Near the beginning of the race he stops the video and singles out the 5 or so leaders and states that they are the favorites to when in fact epicenter was the favorite and not in the shot. Rich Strike was 80-1 long shot, not 99-1. Get your facts correct Andrew.
Sonny said the horse is a long distance runner and that he knew how to ride the horse. Well, Sonny really knew how to take advantage of that in the Derby. It was a team magic moment; it was all about knowledge, connection and trust each other. Very proud 💛💙❤
I've never seen another horse turn his head look at the other horse's and then hit a small gap for the winning move! Mind blowing !!
thats the jockey tugging him
I totally agree with you .it was to damn cool .like hu you think your gonna win .
He was being pulled but I definitely saw him look at the other horses every time he began to pass them !
When RICH STRIKE stared down the leader as he was walking Epicenter down it reminded of the Disney SECRETARIAT movie against SHAM
The horse, Rich Strike, can see to his side without turning his head . He turned his head as his rider, Sonny, was signaling him to turn into his right lane and move over for the pass.

I cant stop watching this race. It never gets old. I scream and cry every time.
Me too!!??😭😭😭😭😭
The world needed this. All this depression and anxiety everyone has... it meant the world to us. You can overcome anything no matter what someone else or yourself says about you.
Same!!!!
Me too!
IN MY 60 YEARS SURELY ONE OF THE BEST KENTUCKY DERBY WINS, I PRAY HE WINS THE TRIPLE 👑.!
Amen ..Rich Strike's God is with you ..🐎🐎🐎🙏🏻🙏🏻🤲🤲
Don't forget, based on starting position Rich Strike actually ran farther than any other horse! That race announcer needs to pay more attention to ALL the horses.
Another best part was that the commentators were COMPLETELY NOT EXPECTING him to be there till the last moment!!!
Yes! I noticed that too!
Can't imagine what all the favourites were thinking when Rich Strike passed them. Love it!
Wow! That got me tears to my eyes . How incredible that is .
I'm bawling 😭😭😭😭
The fact that the daughter was praying for 9th finish and Richie won made it 10000000000th times sweeter. I'm crying with her.

FYI: Secretariat also started in last place in both the Derby and the Preakness, setting track records in both races that remain to this day.
Rich Strikes moves reminded me of Secretariat 's come-from-behind runs.
U r right
Beautiful!! So happy for them. I have attended the Derby! True Southern charm and inspiration!! Amen.
My dad passed in August and he would have loved this i can hear HIM in Heaven yelling happiness love and mis you daddy

The Jockey is from Venezuela my country thanks for mentioned it

the fact they lost 23 horses to a barn fire in 2016 makes this even more special!
The jock rode that horse like a motorcycle….whipping in and out of traffic. Really cool race.
Thanks for your comment ☝ Hit me up let's talk investments
It is so in Caracas highway traffic
… he held his line into the final turn… the whole middle of the pack went wide… he had plenty of room and moved inside along the rail… the zig-zag move down the stretch got him the win… amazing…
still watching 2023 .many times I watch Rich Strike's ,this amazing ,miracle ❤❤
I didn’t even see any tears… and yes this was the best K.D I have ever seen… Glad I got to witness this…
80-1 odds if only know beforehand. Thank you again, Andrew for all the info you give us. You make watching interesting.
A natural winner with no controversy a true winner love that hard working horse hope he becomes a triple crown winner!!!!!
God’s miracle -LOVED IT
Every time I watch it, my eyes get watery. Love it!
Should've shown the overhead view.
Andrew u have been a blessing keep us up with the great news ur the best and god bless 🙏🙏
That was an awesome race!!

Just what I needed to spark my faith again.
Same. There was just something about it.
There have been some stunning, unbelievable upsets before, but nothing like a horse entering the last furlong in a thicket like that with EIGHT horses to go. The only other horse I can think of that might have pulled it off is Zenyatta.
That was so good! Hope that Rich Strike can continue to shock the world and win the next race!
Great race, love it Andrew.
Although she never ran in any jewel of the triple crown, Zenyatta always came from dead last to win all her races except her 20th and last.
Queen Z! 17 1/2 hands of pure grace!
Amazing! I’ll never forget when Afleet Alex won after almost flipping over forward in 2005! This was an awesome derby win!!
It was Preakness afleet Alex won gismo won the derby that year
@@gregeldred8065 Preakness and Belmont…Kentucky was Giacamo…were all awesome races!!
it all began december 2021.........the art of suggestion begins.......MIND-BLOWING
Excellent Video 👍
Renews your Faith! After the lightening strike that killed 12 horses, I guess Heaven smiled & added a Play on words Rich STRIKE.
God had already spoken through a prophet called Amanda Grace...that a new horse is emerging...watch the name of the horse. It was spoken in April...
ME TOOO CRIED HAPPIEST TEARS IN YEARS
Love it . Great Horse! Love the underdog winning
The opening pool placed Rich Strike at 99-1, but the closing pool placed him at about 81-1. He paid $163.6 on a $2 bet. He ran the race in 2:2.61.

GOOD EVENING 👍 👍 👍
I'm sick .lol wonderful! Race they say was great
WOW AMAZING SONNY LEON ORGULLO DE VENEZUELA THANK YOU RICH STRIKE
After that race I had to play Spike Jones 'Beetlebaum' (William Tell Overture).
I love this!
The trainers and owners weren't sure where the horse was either.
Absolutely an unbelievable story
From this amazing horse story race ever and from this I’m a fan of derby from swimming to horse racing.. but I have 1 question and I’m sorry I don’t understand what is the meaning of 1-80? Please help me understand this
Outrageous!!!!!!
Amazing race for sure!
You got that wrong. In 2009 Mind That Bird was way last for half the race and went on to win by 6 lengths.
The radio bit is the best…
Awesome 🤩 I love long shots
Mine that Bird went from last to first in the Kentucky Derby too.
Muy bueno el análisis de la carrera, pero creo que le faltó comentar lo bien de la conducción del jinete Sonny Leon
How long before the movie comes out?
Sonny Leon rode a genius ride
enjoy your Sunday
The last shall be first 🥇
That first half mile pace slowed down finishers like Zandon at the end, couldn’t have scripted it better for Rich Strike, do you think the Preakness will have a slower start ?
individual talent. that IT factor that everyone around the world. has in themselves
Love the long shots!
I love this horse.
That's amazing. Oh my Lance
Yes
Sonny arepa power
Hello Andrew
What a race!
Awesome!
Good for them ppl who won
Still here listening to Andrew!!!
Great jockey!
Reminded me of mine that bird 2009 such amazing moment
I felt mixed emotions everytime I watch this video i was in tears of Joy when his trainer eric reed lied down when he finally seen his horse get first to the finish line and his friends where all happy the daughters wish is 9th place she couldnt believe her eyes rich strike won the Kentucky derby
Good
Before I used to play alot awsome

Keen Ice the sire of Rick Strike also a longshot when he upset American Pharoah
If we would have went my boyfriend picked that house always picks the longest long shot
That horse is a monster we’re gonna see more him we may see a Triple Crown this year he could’ve ran 2 miles that day
Imagine the payout on the Exacta!
*"Anyone who is not investing now is missing a tremendous opportunity." Imagine investing $1,000 and receiving $11,300 in 3 days profits, Ms Becky is the best.🇺🇸🇺🇸*
That’s sounds good!! I have been looking for a professional trader to start up some little investment.
I have never heard or seen any of his clients complain of lost…..I think she’s just perfect.
I couldn’t believe myself until I got a profit of $11,000 with an initial start up capital of $1000 in less than 48 hours thanks Becky.
All investors are conversant with expert Ms Becky, she’s trustworthy in the field just got to keep her instructions and you we excel.
Please how do I find her handle🙏🏻
You have to wonder how many people actually made a fortune on this by always betting on the longest shot possible just for the hell of it.
One thing I have noticed is, SOMETHING needs to be done to make the horse and jockey stand out from one to the other. WAY too easy to lose where "your" horse is in the middle of the pack. I wanted to know how fast this horse was going.
“Last man standing.”
You should of stopped it more often and pointed out current position.
Thank you.
Hi
And the trainer has 109 infractions against him in his career... will not win the preakness!!!!
Not the first KY Derby horse to hit the first quarter pole last and win the race:
Secretariat (1973)
@Richard Grisworld Secretariat deserves the praise and respect he most certainly earned, but why you gotta try to steal Rich Strike's thunder? This was HIS time (now) and HIS race. Nobody's trying to take anything away from Secretariat's success.
