About not actively participating in every conversation, and people saying you are quiet and introvert: there is an old saying: "empty barrels make the most noise" - meaning the people with the least knowledge tend to be the most outspoken. I have often found this to be true.
I’m left handed and I have an inner monologue all day, and I have extreme hyperphantasia, and that’s the opposite of aphantasia. I can do everything imaginable with my mind. It’s crazy people don’t do what I do, I didn’t know I was so different.
They are thinking but it's more like they are running off of an operating system. They simply process information differently. They can't think critically because they can't imagine scenarios or process information. They just collect information and go by whatever their operating system allows them to do. I wonder if a lot of them are in positions of power like the guy who created Firefox. Fascinating stuff.
Okay T2, you are too funny bud. I love your theories and thoughts and stuff. It would be cool to chat with you sometime, been a fan forever it seems. Happy you're going strong here, and this is a comment on your video. I'm drunk. Peace buddy!
I was reading and talking about this a few weeks ago. I concluded that NPC people are also the ones who are extremely good at twitchy/shooter type games but horrible with RTS or complex sequence style games.
You know, when I was 14,15, 16, somewhere around there, (I'm nearly 29 now, HA! Dying.) - I had dreams about moving to your country and living alongside you and you being some kind of brother/father figure. Crazy how kids get things from strangers/idols/etc like that, right? Anywho, still tuning in for the odd video, thanks :D
Ask your self a question... Are we on the top of the food chain leader?? If not ... How would you feed of your humans, and what would you eat???? Explore organic portals concept
Constantly judging everybody and filtering out what is acceptable is not normal, I'm sorry. But it explains a lot about what I hear about some people in the US being like
I disagree that animals think the way people with aphantasia do, because animals don’t have words or use language, they are visual and sensory based creatures. My dog would clearly have dreams because she would move her legs like she was running or chasing something in her sleep, and make little muffled barks. So cute. I do think the term “NPC brain” is incredibly accurate for aphantasia, it fits perfectly. They’re brains are like AI learning machines. They may be smarter technically when it comes to maths etc, but they’re deficient in feelings, emotions, creativity and abstract thought. I agree that this type of brain would be more susceptible to brainwashing and propaganda. It explains why society is getting less caring, more selfish, and definitely less beautiful in terms of human creativity, art etc. Modern art galleries are full of non art today, that the so called artist has conceptualised but really gives off zero emotion or depth of feeling.
I think songs work because it’s a different area of the brain. Kinda how people with Tourette’s ticks tend to stop when they sing or play an instrument, people with stutters can usually sing without stuttering, etc. But it is a fascinating loophole. The brain is generally fascinating. I have aphantasia but a total lack of inner monologue? That level of silence is almost beyond comprehension to me. (Maybe prosopagnosia is more accurate. Neither fits perfectly because although faves are the main thing I can know characteristics of but never can picture, most other things are really... foggy.) The brain’s weird sometimes.
I don't normally hear a voice in my head, but I can if I want to. I can think of a thing and picture it, but I can still think of it without that image. The thought is still there whether the words or images are there or not. It seems many people with inner monologues can't grasp the idea of thinking without putting words to those thoughts. It's not necessary. We are just thinking of what a thing is, not the label for it. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I'm pretty sure there's a scene in The Terminator where there is a list of dialogue options from Arnold's POV, and he runs through it to select the best one. And he's a robot. Think of a tree. Can you visualize it? Can you understand the concept of a tree without visualizing it? It's the same for me, except I can do it without words as well.
@@param3261 He's talking about a lot of different things. Either way, the NPC thing doesn't relate to inner monologues at all. People with them seem to think people like me are missing something in our thinking. We're not. It's the other way around. I can think both ways, but he can't, so he makes the way he can't understand out to be some kind of derpy uncritical suggestibility, and that's not the way it is.
Hey T2 i remember talking about the book concept with my friend a while back. I'm the type that cannot visualize the story in my head but I have been so jealous of people who could, has that always been a skill of yours or is it learn able?
Where the fuck did the left handed not having inner monologue connection come from? :P Is it just anyoen who isn't like you must be an NPC? I love the video and you, but the logic kinda doesn't follow at times. Random concepts and patterns put together with disregard for reality. A true iNtuitive! :D
I am left handed ✋️ have constant inner monolog lol, wish I could turn it off. So yeah that is a no on the left handed 🤔 people. Also introverted, always thinking before I speak, I cant stand rudeness either and always think about how to communicate in a decent way. Also I see stuff in my dreams sometimes very vivid but I don't remember most of them. This is a funny 😁 theory. I am also pretty much middle of the road with politics. Us lefties don't live without monolog but I too was blown away to find out there are people without one.
@@T2Darlantan I always fall asleep when trying it, lol. But I'm asking because the theory of meditation is to separate your "true" self from the voice in your head. Monks call that voice monkey mind. It's almost like the opposite of what you're saying. They argue that if you identify with that voice, you're actually not awake. Sucks for me couse I've always been a dreamer, and I looove me some thinking and ruminating and imagining 😊
Inner monologue just sounds like subvocalization. When people first start to read they have to speak it out, then mumble, then just slight ticks in their tongue. And eventually just read in complete stillness. Picturing thoughts also comes off primitive. Like early writing systems were literal pictures. And then pictures eventually became more abstract. Animals think in mental images. Like how wasps and squirrels make a literal visual snap shot of their surroundings, and call it up to find locations. The people claiming others are NPC are coming off as the ones with the primitive brains.
@BrokenMikrofone but they're reacting like a robot because they don't have an inner consciousness so they're just stimuli/response without really thinking like most people do
Hi Phil 👋 I have no Inner monologue, I would be happy to answer any questions you have I have a very high IQ (top 5%) and a vivid visual imagination - and have always considered my cognition to be via imagination, not via narration My visual and pattern recognition is very high, as well as shape rotation and mental mapping. But my maths and English is average. I also have Aspergers - but I'm not a genius like Elon Musk I can think about words during dialogue but otherwise its multiple trains of thought mostly through video or conceptual simulations I am obsessed with learning both the Exoteric and Estoric aspects of civilisation and the meaning of existence, I am endlessly curious and devour data to build better mental maps and create new nodes of correlation I dabble in music and enjoy playing guitar I when I read a fiction book, (I read 800WPS) I am not cognizant of words outside of dialogue, instead I am playing a movie in real time with key details translated from the text and other finer details created on the fly by imagination I love popular science books, especially Richard Dawkins, Brian Greene and Michio Kaku, and often contemple the mystery behind our inability to tackle the gap between general relativity and quantum mechanics I also love science fiction books and fantasy novels, especially from games like Halo and Witcher series Personally, I find the idea of cognition on the bandwidth and speed of vocalised English to be extremely limiting in terms of speed and dimensions, and I find it difficult to compress my thoughts into text without adding inordinate amount of details I will run a complex system in my imagination, in real time or sped up, layered from micolevel data but perceived at the macro as but a single concept in a few seconds of elapsed time. To convert such a thought into English would take dozens of paragraphs minimum and would be difficult to order Regarding propaganda, I'm about as red pilled as they come and the topic of subliminal messaging and methods of mass psychological control I find endlessly entertaining I am certainly not immune to deception... I was once deployed in Iraq as a Reconnaissance and intelligence officer with the British Army During a game of chess with my CO during a bit of downtime in Basrah Air base the Major informed the young naive me that Saddam had no WMD all along and we were merely an occupation force for the purpose of stealing oil, and that the destruction we had wrought upon the middle east will never be repaired Since that day I have been red pilled and regarding NPCs, to my mind only thinking via spoken narration sounds too much like in game NPCs if you ask me! 😂
I don’t have inner monologue and, the the contrary, it’s those WITH an inner monologue who would seem to be the NPCs. I mean… there’s literally someone in your head giving you unsolicited advice lol. At least my thoughts are mine!
I think Youre a bit confused too. I can conceptualizer speech and create dialogue in my head. Many of my thoughts are dialogues with people, past present or future. However I never discuss anything with myself, receive advice, criticism or whatever else people are claiming. My brain does not talk to me.
