Thank you for your lovely video Mira. I really don't understand why you get hateful comments, you are such a kind, gentle young lady that should not have to worry about what art products you use. I personally think that you always give good advice as to what to use for all different budgets. I don't usually comment but wanted you to know how much that you are appreciated by your genuine followers. I am a 61 year old lady who has been inspired by you to try so many new art mediums and I particularly love your' ways to fill your sketchbook' your inspiration helps me through so many dark days. so thankyou. Love from Surrey, England xox
One *good* thing that came out of 2020: the art supplies 😂💖
One good thing that came out of 2020 : being able to stay home and make my own UA-cam channel LOL LOL 🤣🤣(JUST PASSED 500 SUBZ AND AM FREAKING OUT)
Aww hun I'm so sorry people have made it so you don't enjoy using your Copics on your channel anymore :S. It's the whole, people hate it because it is popular, thing. Don't let the idiots bring you down. Time and time again Copics have proven to be the best. It's not on you that people can't afford them and that they put it on you in any sense of the word, whatsoever, is not cool! It's absolutely ridiculous that people could put someone down just because of the markers they use. It's not ok to put someone down for not being able to afford better markers, so why do people think it's ok to put people down who can?! It's not like you act as though other markers aren't good enough. Jeez.
Sorry for the rant that just made me so upset. You're the sweetest ever and definitely don't deserve any kind of hate let alone for something so insanely ridiculous! I also wanted you to know I have your back ♡♡.
Daniel Smith watercolors are the bomb!! Art subscription boxes have been so great for inspiration and testing new supplies I wouldn’t normally purchase on my own.
I totally agree with the subscription boxes. That's how I found the Ampersand canvases too, and it was a game changer! :D
@@MiraByler Hi. I was just wondering which art subscription boxes you would recommend.
Hi Mira, wanted to let you know that it is OKAY for your to use expensive materials. If it helps you and your artwork why not?! And to anyone who’s commenting hate about that, she just wants to enjoy art and level up her supplies. No need to judge what she uses. Anyways, hope anyone who sees them has a great day!
🤔 Yes, she has expensive art supplies which obviously it's OK to use expensive supplies... but I think the point here was that it's OK not to have the most expensive art supplies out there as well. Just my interpretation. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s quite sad that someone has to stop using a certain supply because of hate, there shouldn’t be any hate.
Thank you so much for the thorough review!!! I was also very curious about your "mermaid" looking brushes, too bad they are likely discontinued. I am also a huge proponent of golden acrylics; I use them for fluid art, and I just got into the posca pens. They are amazing. Don't even get me started on the leafing markers, I have a ton of them lying around. Must gold leaf EVERYTHING.
I have gotten the mermaid and unicorn brushes recently at our Hobby Lobby. They are fun to use and pretty decent.
I found the Royal and Langnickel brushes on Hobby Lobby online store under the title mermaid paint brushes they also have unicorn paint brushes. Have a good day.
omg u have more subs then mira 👀 i for some reason never thought that she was small enough to get “discovered” and i thought everybody already kinda knew her looolllolol
haha I have that one Gold marker. I will chase it down! haha. That and pearl medium. ha
Thank you for including all skill levels in your belief of who is an artist. I am a self taught hobby artist and get so much enjoyment from playing w color and making whimsical art. I love your encouraging videos! Thanks for including me!
Mira, You inspire me so much! I get SOO excited when you post! I am starting to get serious in art for my age, and you just keep inspiring me to do more things! More than half of my art supplies, have came from your videos! Your always just so positive, and happy and that always makes me so happy, even when I’m not having the best day! Thank you so much for inspiring me, and just being such a positive person, through this crazy time! Also, you can rock every hairstyle, your hair is SO beautiful! 😊
I love the thing you put on the side of the video in the beginning. It was so thoughtful!
Girl, I like your attitude. As for the arches paper - you can buy it in sheets ant then it's cheaper. I'm buying it this way and then making my own sketchbook. I think it's a good alternative for blocks.
My husband used to buy it for me in sheets at Aaron's art supply, and he found the blocks. That and special Pen and Ink paper for india ink. I loved that paper. No one else had it. Now the pen and ink paper is discontinued. It didn't smear. Marker, ink, whatever.
He Mira there are people in the world who will discourage you but you are my sweetest inspiration. Keep pushing on
Awesome Haul! I really will look into some more of those supplies!
You can buy the same exact Illo Sketchbook on Amazon, by the same sellers on the Illo website. It’s rarely sold out.
OMG I love your videos Mira and your personality it's just so positive and kind!!! Take care of yourself!!! And have fun!!!
The whole time I was wondering if you were going to mention the gold leaf marker... I was not disappointed 🤗🤗 your artworks always look so cool when you use it!
Thanks Mira! Love your videos! I have tried out so many new mediums this year and watching your channel has inspired me to be brave enough to do that and just have fun with it without worrying if it's going to be "good enough".
Hi, who ever reads this have a nice day and be safe!! 🤗
I would love to see you trying professional watercolours, and working with some of the transparent colours (rose madder genuine, aureolin, viridian, etc.) Pretty please! It's a very different painting experience, and I'd love to see what you'd make.
Thank you Mira, always helpful! Art supplies are expensive and it helps to know what works well before you buy. 😀
Mira, Thank you for sharing the products that you have found useful and besides this ....enjoy the use of in your art journey. I am in total agreement with you about art supplies. It is a personal choice. Not only that but budget does play a significant role in what we use. It is part of the artistic journey trying new tools and learning new skills. With that said, “Thanks again for all the wonderful content that you share with so many people. You are such a sweetheart.
Not only that but what is going on the world spreading good cheer goes along way.
Warm Regards,
Martina
❤️I love ur videos Mira, they are always so much fun, and really positive!!!❤️
Video idea! The best beginner products/basic techniques. I am a mom of an 11 year old and she loves creating art. But as someone that doesn't have an artistic bone, I never know what to get her! I dont know whats for beginners and what would be to advanced. By the way, LIVE your videos!! You are truly a rare talent!
I love how you say the downsides too your really honest and it’s very much appreciated thank you.
Mira's voice is so relaxing to listen to, its smooth and suave it goes well with her videos!
I personally love ballpoint pens! They are so nice to sketch in! And generally very affordable! I have also been digging acrylics lately, mine are very cheap and I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I have fun using them!
I like your art hauls. And your sweater is really nice💜💜
Love you Mira! Hope your having great day, also love your new desk!❤
@@MiraByler Thank you so much for replying to my comment, also my family just got a new puppy her name is Maple she is adorable!
I can’t draw a really paint but I love watching your videos because it inspires me to draw and paint. It was one of my favorite pastimes when I was a little kid and it’s become extremely relaxing just a doodle with watercolor pencils. I also found your channel because I was going to school for graphic design and I did like the sketch out some of the designs for my class and color them in before putting them into a computer.
Exited to start watchign! Merry Christmas!
Hello! I am first today! Well, maybe. A lot of people claim that title every time so there is not really a way to determine the real first person, but I am indeed part of the early party. 🎉 Sort of proud! I saw your community post this morning and have been waiting all day to see your wonderful content. ❤️❤️❤️ Love you, Merry Christmas!
That was very helpful and informative, Mira. Thankyou very much. I appreciate your efforts.
The Arteza gouache is awesome as calligraphy ink. Just mix with a little water for the right consistency and BAM! Awesome haul, Mira. Thank you!
I just discovered your channel this afternoon and your videos are very inspiring and aesthetic.
My favorite surfaces to do art on are strathmore sketchbooks (184lb toned gray) and the strathmore bristol paper that you mentioned in the video. :)
Loved this video! I also love your sweater in this!
As a professional artist I buy my papers by the sheet. You can even save money if you buy enough in bulk! Arches watercolor paper has every kind of paper in sheet form and the sizing is better/different too. I have become an advocate for DaVinci Paint company. They make professional grade paints, I LOVE their watercolors yet they make an exceptional gouache and all the other mediums as well! They even rival Golden’s fluid acrylics! Who have the reputation for being the best! I am still a bit of a brush snob but I have found that the Mimik brands work so well and they harm no animals to make them! They make brushes for every medium. You have done a wonderful job showing us your favorites and I am sure that you will continue to create your amazing art with them. I hope you have time to share your thoughts with as many of your viewers as you can, perhaps in a new video exploring your viewers choices? I do know where you can get a demo package for some paints. . . . Thank you Miranda, your videos are a bright spot to anyone’s day. Please take care and be safe, now say hi to Dorv and enjoy your weekend!
I’d love to try the Arteza watercolor paper. Thanks for the video 💕
Mira, your art is your art and whatever art supplies you want to use is ur choice.
All those haters talking about u using copics need to back off because you have the right to use whatever you want WITHOUT being judged. Your art is awesome, unique and beautiful and ignore those haters. They're just jealous
I really enjoyed this video, thank you! In the UK we are lucky that Windsor Newton is relatively cheap(ish) if it's on special offer, but some other supplies are harder to find. Also your jumper is super cute!!
One good thing that happened in 2020:
I found you and your channel.
You’re awesome, keep it up♥️
I enjoyed seeing all of your favorites! I used Daniel Smith watercolors early in my journey and got spoiled by them. I get them one at a time from Amazon.
Have you seen the dot card of Daniel Smith... got mine at Blick Art super helpful for exploring more pricey paints for a low cost!!
@@carrie.snowcoach I’ve been eyeballing that for two years lol. I may get it. Although I’m using some Sennelier and some mejello. I do own DS moon glow. 🤤it’s so pretty. I’ll have to wait. I’ve heard good reviews about it and that you can paint several paintings with that sampler.
I am very inspired. I definitely want to try some of these art supply’s. I love to do art as a hobby especially in spring. Keep up the good work Mira. You have such a positive personality unlike me sometime.🤩
This is the first time I came across this channel and I subscribed, I enjoyed the video, there’s just something about talking about art supplies 😍.
And yes, everyone has different budgets and people shouldn’t hate on others for using more expensive art supplies. People need to understand that first everyone decides what to do with their money and I’ve found that investing in the more “expensive” stuff helped me improve my art.
I am new to art but I really want to practice and get better. Your art is amazing and definitely a level I aspire to be at one day :) Thanks for all the recommendations!
Yes! Golden is so wonderful! I also have some of their watercolors, from their Qor brand. They are amazing 💜💜💜
I just thought of a good video idea. You could do a video of just cleaning and pulling off the paint of your paint pallets. I think it would be very satisfying and fun.
They still sell those unicornish/ mermaid brushes in hobby lobby. I bought them a month ago. I love them.
Love your videos Mira! You have inspired me alot!! And you shouldn't care about the hate comments, you go girl!
Can’t wait to watch this video 🥰🎄
Finally early!
I've never seen a lot of these art supplies... maybe I'll have to try them out!
My dad just bought me a square sketchbook and an 18 pack of illustrator alcohol markers for my birthday. I am excited to start swatching and sketching.
A few years ago I was gifted the arteza cold pressed watercolor and love it. I use it for multimedia. Also the arteza expert watercolor pencils which I have yet to use. But these are some of my favorite supplies
I'm pretty much on board with most of your favorites. I am an Arteza fan as well. Plus a few higher end supplies. For watercolor, you should definitely go on Amazon and buy a tube of your favorite color in Daniel Smith. Omg...it is delightful. Obviously a bit pricey per tube. But it lasts forever and the granulation in some of their paints is insanely beautiful. My first tube was Cobalt Teal Blue. Sooo pretty! They also sell a dot card set on Amazon for like 20 dollars and it has something like 200 colors. Swatching them was so much fun, and lets you decide first hand which colors are special enough to add to your collection. Makes it way more affordable to just add 1 or 2 tubes here and there. Thanks for the video as always. 😁
Haha that’s the same with my videos! I always over work them or something bad happens😂 I love you Mira! I have so many things on my Christmas list now!
Excellent video! Love it. Thanks for sharing and please use whatever you like on your videos regardless of anyone's opinion
I can't believe I'm so late to getting POSCA pens. I ordered some and I'm so excited to use them!
I Have a video suggestion! Can you do a "How to fill you sketchbook; Winter Edition!" I think it would be really useful!
About 11:50 Christopher Moore wrote a whole (humorous) novel about the struggle for the ultimate cold pigments in Sacré Bleu. It’s a fun historical fantasy tale set in 1890’s Paris.
I was just on the web page ... Royal & Langnickel ... they don't have the ones you have but... they have really cool metallic brushes...and other sets... I want to Thank you ... for taking the time of putting the name out there .. now I'm going to be purchasing this for myself and my daughter.... thanks!
Great video as always Mira!!!
I just got posca pens this year and they are amasing i truly recommend those are much better then "" rip offs""" in sweden called pintor posca are better i love them
You answered my main question every time you paint. Thank you!
This is very helpful! I was wondering about the Arteza brand. Their mica powders are great. Art supplies can be surprising. You can find faves in the most unexpected ways. I didn't know about Galkyd. Thank you for sharing your faves.
Hello Mira! An early Merry Christmas wish from New Zealand! May you have a Christmas full of happiness, warmth and love!
Love you so much!!!!
Love your video so glad that you got the luminance pencils
I love Arches watercolour paper, it’s absolutely worth the money. I recently discovered a small family owned art shop near were I work that sells individual A2 sheets of Arches watercolour paper. It’s a brilliant cost effective way, I have found, to buy a single sheet for those special watercolour projects and also to try out different papers without buying a huge expensive pad. 😊
yesss I have the same 36 watercolors from Arteza too. they're also my favorites. they were the first "official" watercolor palette I bought after only using those horrible cake watercolors for kids. the ones that get so chalky you can't even touch them on the paper without the color rubbing off on your hand. they were such a wonderful change from those childish watercolors & it was actually life changing haha😂
you're right about their cool toned blue & purple colors. my favorites are the magenta, violet, & all the blues. 😊 even though they aren't top of the line watercolors, they're definitely great quality and super pigmented.
Love it but I'm suppose to be doing homework, so many good distractions🤦♀️ lol😂😂
I Like the crayola line they are relatively affordable and they do an amazing job especially the pencils they have so much coverage!
You made amazing art with those supplies
Thanks Mira for the recommendations. I ordered the pencil sharpener because I can never get those fine points with the ones I have. Have a happy holiday.
This was really great! I've got my eye on a few of the items that you mentioned. Recently I used my gouache and I realized that my favorite reason for using Holbein was that it is in a plastic tube. I have such a hard time with paints in metal tubes. My lids get stuck and some times the metal tubes break and I get paint all over. Just thought I'd share in case people were looking into trying gouache and wanted another reason to justify the cost. I only have a couple but they really are great paints.
Yes I needed this video to see what to get for the holidays
Made the likes 700! Tysm for posting, pls do inspiration for Christmas painting and diys
Love this video! I actually seen those discontinued brushes you talked about in a craft store here in England. They
I loved this video Mira! I am so sorry people are so mean about your copics, that makes no sense at all. I say use your copics and don't worry about what people say. You shouldn't avoid using supplies you love because people are mean or jealous. You purchased those with your own money and you have a right to use them if you want. That is so crazy to me that people would be mean to someone over something silly like that, especially you.
You are such a sweetheart and I just love watching your videos, no matter what supply you are using. Please don't take those mean comments to heart, you are such a sweet and wonderful person. I love your content so much, I wish I could get to know you more. I think you are such an amazing person. Keep making the beautiful art you do and putting out the positivity you do. Your videos always cheer me up and make me smile. 💖💖💖
You are my true inspiration, I just am completely broke and can't get supplies. Even Cray-Z-Art, But u still make me creative. Just subscribed and you keep on inspiring.
You ever use hot press watercolor paper for colored pencils? It's great. It layers well and the pencils feel so smooth and satisfying against it. Also good for water based markers.
“That’s something that really *draws* me to their paint”
Pun intended? (11:41)
I just love your sweater!
Fun video! I think another option is to get Masonite board cut to whatever size you like at the hardware store and then make your own super smooth art board with it! I hear its WAY less expensive and more customizable that way! I'd also like to say there is a matte medium for acrylic paint I'm still experimenting to try to mix my own 'acryla-gouache' I've found it GREATLY varies based on the paint brand of acrylic paint so far and I prefer Matte most often... I also recommend the Staedtler 500 series sketchbooks and the Beepaper company mixed media. The Staedtler has a hard time with binding on softcover versions (however the paper is still superior). The bee paper company mixed media is terrific and fantastic for using water based markers in a painterly 'watercolour' style. I love my copics as well! In the long run copics are less expensive (re-fills)and more environmentally friendly as well as having a vastly superior colour range it is only a 'good' price IN Japan however they are very fun to use but NOT Lightfast so go into purchasing informed. I Prefer very smooth surfaces more often myself its better for the smoothest blends and softness. I haven't had the chance to try a few of these yet but they seem fun. I dislike the Cotman watercolours however having upgraded a while ago I recommend van-gough for student grade as they are basically full artist grade and Cotman watercolours... In general are horrible. Thanks for sharing!
Copics are my faves, I also have used Spectrum Noir, but I always reach from my Copic first, lol. Haters are going to hate, use what you love!
I love ur vids soooo much they're amazing keep up the good work 👏 💗💜❤💙
I really love the Xpress it blending card, I found a Xpress it blending card sketch book as well as the loose pages, I love it! My fave pencils will always be Dewent, they’ve been my go-to coloured pencils since I was in high school like 15 years ago (wow i’m old lol)
They have sketchbooks?! Ahh, thanks for sharing that! I’ve heard good things about those colored pencils too. 😀
@@MiraByler yes! You’re welcome. I found mine in Officeworks in Australia, so I’m not much help in tracking one down, sorry
Oooh comparison between arches and arteza? Has that been done, probably but it never gets old for me 😂
ooh lots of nice supplies 😀 dont let the haters stop you from using supplies you like
I love your art! ❤️ 😊
That pastel sweater though😍
Hey, a good suggestion for someone looking to get into artist / professional grade watercolors is Saint Petersburg White Nights Watercolor. They are VERY affordable, and I love them! They are easy to rewet, and they come in full pans (which is great if you want to use a bigger brush). I will say that they include cadmium and cobalt paints, which can be somewhat toxic , but of you're okay with that... They're a good introduction into professional watercolors .
Also Daniel Smith sells an introductory set of 6 watercolors for a pretty affordable price (in terms of Daniel Smith ) . You get cool and warm primaries, and can help one learn to mix colors.
Hi! Love your vids! You are so talented!
Can we just appreciate how each category is in its own segment
Didnt watch it yet but I am excited to see what they are!
Thank you for sharing this. I know it’s a year old but your thoughts on the Arteza products are very helpful. I recently bought this HUGE gouache set that was on super sale (I don’t understand why it was cheaper to buy the biggest set over the small sets 🤷🏻♀️) and you’ve inspired me to rip into them. 😂
The art supplies are fab but I really like your jumper. I live in Wales so I'd never be able to get one but the colours are fab x
Ahhhhhh I love arteza they litterly have everything Sooooo affordable but soooooooooooo good quality at the same time :)) this video helped alot so thank you mira :) I've been trying to find the acryla gouache u use for a while now and this was super helpful and it inspired me to cRacK out some old forgotten supplies. Byyye
Yesss! I agree with you so much about Arteza supplies. They have been so nice to use and I love how affordable they are lol. I'm so glad this inspired you! What old forgotten supplies are you planning on getting out?! I hope you have fun! 💜
@@MiraByler you made me remember my old markers! I want to do a piece with them now haha. I normally prefer watercolour and acrylic. Thank youuu. Also I LOVE your ocean and water paintings. Would you consider doing a tutorial?
Awesome video! cheers for breaking down what you use and why!
As for your last comments, seriously, Copic are the BEST by any definition, and that's why they're expensive. Jazza recently did a VERY thorough job of testing all the marker supplies he could get his hands on, so if anybody wants to contradict or complain, they can go watch that first. Seriously though, giving hate because of somebody's marker choice is utterly pathetic.
Omg why am I not subscribed to you😱your art is just 😍
I'd love to see you review and paint something with the himi gouache paint & the Paul Rubens watercolor set & metallic watercolor set 💞
Also, I use a LOT of these supplies in my 7 Ways to Fill a Sketchbook video, so if you want to see them in action: ua-cam.com/video/_WDnEOafHDc/v-deo.html
hi :D sucker chloe rose art is better than you and no one dare replay
