    No doubt the Olympus 75mm really outshine!

    Olympus 25mm f1.2, Olympus 75mm f1.2 and the f2.8 Olympus 40-150 for me.

    Great video, I like the fact you put many samples 👍, for family portrait I use the 16mm sigma 1.4, the Oly 25 and 45 1.8, the 7art macro 60mm and sometimes 100 300mm lumix. The one I use most is the 45mm 1.8 followed by the 25 or 16.

      Thank you Philippe for the kind comment! Great setup you have right there, 45 1.8 is quite a versatile portrait lens, and both 25 and 16 will give you a perfect environmental portrait focal length. Cheers!

    I remember watching this a year ago and being a boke snob thinking f2.8 wasn't good enough. But i've calmed down a lot in my photography journey and f2.8 is perfectly fine with the 35-100mm being my preferred light travel/adventure lens. it's silly going to location and not seeing any background, but even f2.8 on m43 can blow away a background at 100mm, so the option is still there. at 25mm/50mmEquiv I do usually need lower than f2.8
    *However The sigma 56mm f1.4 and Oly 25mm f1.2 would still be my go to's for a wedding, as it can get dark real quick, and even those aren't ideal in some night time celebrations. It's good to have a full frame emergency low light cam off the side unless there is a strong enough light to work with.

      @Gary_W  Рік тому +2

      Thank you for sharing your experience regarding bokeh, that is really an eye opening. I am currently phasing in and out of the bokeh-snob phase too, but then again, most of the time 2.8 is enough. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video.
    Since I do not do a lot of portrait work with micro 4/3, the only lens I own is the Olympus 45mm. If I need something longer, I use adapted 85mm or 105mm lenses.

    I have all these lens. I say the same thing you just said. I do weddings I like the 35-100 f2.8 for weddings better but if I have to pack light then its the Olympus 75mm f1.8 if I'm just bring one bag.

    Hello Gary and thanks for this video which has a different set up and format (among others outdoors!) compared to many other of your videos. Unfortunately I am not much of a portrait photographer (I have no family member who graciously volunteers like Nora did for you). If I were going to take portraits then I would probably use the Panasonic Lumix 42.5 f1.7, which I have, and go for three quarter or whole body since a head shot might feel too close for the subject. I do not have the other lenses you mention 😃. Please keep up the good work and enthusiasm on your channel.

      @Gary_W  3 роки тому

      Hello Joe, thank you so much for the kind comment! Same here, I don't often take portraits of my family, and Nora was kind enough to volunteer for the video 😀. That Lumix 42.5mm f1.7 is a great lens, should you ever need to shoot portrait then that lens will definitely do a great job! Thanks again Joe 😊

    I have both 45 mm and 75 mm, and I want to give you the right, that 45 is best for ½-body portraits and 75 is perfect for mug-shots.
    May I ask why you are constantly counting to 3 - why not just take some more pictures to capture the right expression?
    Besides, I'm very jealous - having a beautiful and 'willing' model is something I miss.

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  3 роки тому +2

      Hello Mogens Jaeger, thank you for the comment! I count to three simply because people here where I live sometimes do that when taking pictures of other people, it's a reflex up to this point 😆 plus I don't usually do portrait photography. Thank you once again!

    For beginners on a budget my I suggest the Olympus OM Zuiko 50mm? it's a vintage lens I use all the time, I inherited mine from my mom but it's very cheap on ebay, lens plus MFT adapter could cost you around 50/60 dollars

    Sharpest might be the Sigma 56mm. The Olympus ( maybe a Sigma ) 75mm lens is sharp & made in Japan, using DXOmark as reference it is sharp. But then again, there is more to life than sharpness. That Olympus 45mm is just awesome, as it is small, renders so nicely, and is light in weight and light on the pocketbook. The Lumix 30mm macro is a sharp lens.

    I'm very curious to see a comparison of the Olympus 75mm 1.8 vs the Panasonic 85mm 1.8. They are comparable in price and I haven't seen any comparison video on the internet, sadly.

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  Рік тому

      They are not equal lenses for comparison, the Panasonic 85mm is a Full Frame L mount, not a Micro 4/3 mount like the Olympus 75mm f1.8. Yes you can use adapters to adapt the Pan 85mm on Micro 4/3, but it will either give an entirely different field of view, or becomes soft due to less than ideal sensor-lens coverage.

    Hi mate, I have recently purchased a lumix g85 with 12-60mm kit lens but I m not very happy because it's not very good in low light and also so much less Bokeh,. Mainly I m using g85 for UA-cam videos and wedding like events for photos and videos and now I m considering sigma 16mm 1.4, so what's ur opinion because it's very nicely build, very nice in low light plus Bokeh and if in future if I switch to sony this lens also be usable for me and again I can also use it with panasonic full frame etc with added crop, plz gave reply as fast as possible 🔥

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the late response! I don't think you can interchange the Sigma 16mm f1.4 from MFT to full frame because they have different lens mount. You can get the FF version of the 16 1.4 and get an adapter if you want, but I don't think it is an efficient setup.

    If i use the 45mm olympus lens on my mft olympus body, does it make the image equal to 90mm in ff because of crop factor?

    • @Gary_W

      Yes that's correct. You will end up with 90mm equivalent field of view of a full frame camera.
