Joule Effect. Electricity turns into Heat.

  • When an electric current pass through a conductor, heat is generated. This is because the interaction of the electrons of the current with the atoms of the conductor. The less the electrical resistivity of the conductor the less the Joule Effect. In the case of a superconductor, this effect doesn't happen, because the resistance is zero.
    The Joule effect is inconvenient, for example, in order to transport electric energy, because they produce losses.
    On the other hand, it is used in order to produce heat passing electricity through a resistor. Many appliances use this effect in order to heat.
