To this day I prefer those GI aluminum mags as they're what we had back in the day. I Love the 20rd also. I have those Pmags but its still not the same. Great idea Buddy 👍👍
What’s old is new again. I remember this fondly from the 90’s, some of my mags from ‘92 still have them. Really like the knot and measurement method. we just looped it over the end of the mag so you can fit two fingers and a inch overhang on each side.
Years ago I'd bought a dozen magpuls for my USGI aluminum mags, and I'm still rocking those. However, while they fit my PC shingle just fine, those pulls won't let me put 2 mags into a bandolier pocket. I'm sure anyone who served some time ago remembers those 3-pocket bandoliers that held 6 mags. I'll probably remove the mag-puls & try this instead, because of the way the government designed the bandoliers.
Good little side note if no one has mentioned it but get some of that heat shrink wrap for eletrical wires and pull it over the paracord. Once the cord is in place, hit that shrink wrap with some heat, and it'll stiff up real nice.
I have always seen 100mph tape wrapped around the bottom with a tab sticking up for a pull. That loop of paracord will catch on stuff in a real world environment. Come on Jay.
I did this to mine, and my grandfather saw some of them. And said they used to do that back in the day we had a good chuckle.
You made me feel old by saying your grandfather.... we were doing this back in 03
We used to clip carabiners to our IBA’s to retain spent mags, was better than trying to shove them in a cargo pocket , this was pre “dump pouch” days
Grunts and crafts is always a good time
This is nothing new, but it is a great, short tutorial. Old school Joe's have been doing this to their magazines for decades.
My 1st set of USGI surplus mags I got back in ‘04 at a local gun show had paracord loops already on em. Definitely worth installing em.
Was going to chime in that these pull loops were functional in the days before open top pouches… nice tech but old school for sure…

I carry Pmags at work because that's what they issue. My home kit has Okay Surefeed's.
Brings back memories. Was doing this back in the early 90’s when I was in.
Nice! I like to tape them on the outside as it is easier to replace and mitigates the potential of bending the floorplate, but it works, I dig it.
What kind of tape do you use?
Same here. I duct tape em.
@@markzuckerberg3128 100mph tape (the stuff we were given/ issued in the military), you can get it at retail outlets like Ranger Joe's.

@DJTheMetalheadMercenary you smell funny
I never did it this way, and this is a lot easier than the ways I learned in years past.
Thanks for the tip. Now I know how I'll be spending my free time this weekend.

I was having a little trouble pulling my mags out of my LBVE-88 pouches.
"Ranger pulls" absolutely solved that problem
Good evening Sir! I’ve never seen this before, it’s brilliant! Thanks for sharing! Take care my friend!
Thanks Jason now I have another project to work on lol......good stuff

This is OG. I prefer the tape method, though. I've seen too many floor plates blow out after bending them
💯
Great video Jay. Thanks for sharing
Great video and demonstration!

Sweet Idea, no need to spend a bunch of money on magpuls.
Thank you Jay!
Very cool.
Great Video and info

Good stuff, thanks!
Create a little tab out of duct tape instead of making those 550 cord loops. Those loops get caught on stuff, especially when you're in the prone.
That's what I was just wondering about, knowing my luck that loop will grab every branch around
Digging it bro
1) You said you didn't want to put tape on the outside but a single wrap of skater tape works the best.
2) The Rebellious Stripes...👍
The original Magpul that the company is based on that no one even uses anymore. Ironic isn't it? Check your msgs brother.
Put a piece of ziptie to stifin it up
thanks , well done , good info . Missouri Militia 1st/3rd
Thank you!

Where I come from, anyone "in the hooch" has found the still.....
Tape the paracord to the base of the mag, not a good idea to put anything inside the mag.
