Charlene, the sheer look of joy on your face throughout both songs was completely worth the recommendation! I'm glad you are enjoying Brandi as much as I do! She is so very underrated. I know I say that every time, but it's true. Someone who can sing that well during a live performance while interacting with both the audience and her band mates, as well as her special guest, Celisse Henderson, is a rarity. I'll keep the recommendations coming as well as other really cool music I encounter!
If you get the chance to see her live, do it. It's a surreal and powerful experience. And so much joy ! You can see how much she and the band love performing.
Of all the modern artists I’ve come across in the past 15-20 years, only a handful grabbed my attention immediately on first listen…Brandi, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Billie Eilish, Ren, and Chappell Roan. ALL are living legends (R.I.P. Amy) and their music will hold long after we’re all gone. I believe this wholeheartedly. There are other good ones out there, but those few are on a whole other level. Definitely check out Chappell Roan when you can. She’s like a giant mash-up of every female pop/rock singer from the late 70s to the present. Her songs range from cheesy to heartbreaking. You can totally pick out her influences in each song. Great vocalist. Her whole album is 10/10. She just recently started hanging with Joni M, Brandi, Elton and that whole squad. Highly recommend.
@ tough one, cuz they’re all good, but different. “Good Luck, Babe” was huge this year. Her previous singles “Pink Pony Club”, “Casual”, and “Hot To Go” got a boost also. Her only full album is a no skipper, in my opinion. Goes from campy cheesy (80s Madonna/Cyndi-Lauper ish) to solemn/emotional (hints of Lana del ray, Tori Amos, Brandi etc) Definitely pushes some pop “norms”. Excellent live also (her “pipes” and stage presence are up there with the best of em) Her Tiny Desk concert is amusing, stripped down but showcases her quirkiness (her band is rad too).

I was thinking of Chappell… what do you recommend I start with?
