In La Citadella stellt Kees Vlak eine sehr gegensätzliche Situation im italienischen Bergdorf Assisi dar. Auf der einen Seite ist eine Horde von Touristen, welche die Kathedrale besichtigen. Auf der anderen Seite ist La Citadella, ein Gebäudekomplex, in dem schwer behinderte Menschen liebevoll von Schwestern betreut werden. Das dissonierende Hauptthema in der Trompete stellt die Isoliertheit dieser Menschen in der Gesellschaft dar. Ebenso wird aber auch die Liebe und die Geduld der Schwestern in der Musik ausgedrückt. Kontrastreich und bewegend!

In La Citadella, Kees Vlak presents a very contrasting situation in the Italian mountain village of Assisi. On one side is a horde of tourists visiting the cathedral. On the other side is La Citadella, a complex of buildings where severely disabled people are lovingly cared for by sisters. The dissonant main theme in the trumpet represents the isolation of these people in society. But equally, the love and patience of the sisters is expressed in the music. Rich in contrast and moving!
