    Watching this back, it is amazing how calm, cool, collected and professional you appeared right from the outset.

    Loving the Navitimer!! Great early vid. I have my first solo ILS into Hawarden later this week after being (finally) granted my IRR privilege so this was useful

    Great stuff, will be doing same in next week or two. Looking forward to it. You certainly have many more unique visual references than we do here down south!

    The technical quality of this is outstanding. Perhaps you might sometime discuss some of the various flight maneuvers you have to demonstrate to get your license, such things as climbing turn stalls, various short and soft field take-off/landing techniques, turns about a point, turns on a point, and for the more advanced, chandelles, lazy eights, 60 degree turns, eights-on-pylons, eights-about-pylons, etc. Those were all things I had to do in the US in 1969 and I've wondered about what you guys have to do in the UK now. Obviously your instrument flight rules and controlled airspace training is far more than we did for the initial license.

    Great video! I'm just at the early stages of the PPL journey, 11 hours done so far, so i'm a long way off from Cross country solo flights, but it was a lot of fun to watch :)

    Is it necessary to listen to radio chatter, or is there an option to only hear what comes through to you?

    • @pandabandit-evocati
      @pandabandit-evocati 10 місяців тому

      It's an analog radio system, so aircraft will have a push to talk switch to transmit. Once an aircraft started transmitted the message it will block the frequency for that user until the pilot finishes. You tend to tune into the frequency you need and for safety, it's best to stay on the one you're in the area of incase of emergencies or changes in information. you can turn volumes down but generally most people tend to have everything at a tangible volume as to not miss anything

    Do you have to listen to the atc talking to other pilots? or is their a way to cancel out any chatter if its not for you?

    • @sideslipsteve
      @sideslipsteve 6 років тому

      Daniel's Decorating You hear everything on the frequency. It’s useful though, for drawing a mental picture of where other aircraft are and their intentions.
