Durham let's build black wall street again but this time bigger and better so we can do business with our Haiti' Brazil, and Africa... brothers/ sisters
Born and raised in my native North Durham in 1955. I've been living in New York City since 1973. However, I am a proud 1973 graduate of Durham High School.
@@phinebrowngirl5467 No, I didn't know them. I knew Harold Sanders, Cedric Jackson, Wayne Scott, Wille (Fish) Clayton, Kathy & Valinda Fuaquay. They lived on Gray Ave., Wake Place, Dowd Street, Hazel Street, and Canel back in the 60's & 70's when I lived in the Bull City. Many of the people I went to Whitted Junior High School & Durham High with from North Durham are deceased or no longer living in Durham like me.

@@phinebrowngirl5467 I was born in 1955. Ask your mother does she remember Joyce Lloyd, Myra Hill, Sondra Lyons, Phyllistine Thornton, Gayle Pratt, and Debbie Fuller from North Durham. Before she died Christmas Eve 2013, the day before her birthday, Christmas Day, she use to talk about the good old days growing up on the Westend. Happy Christmas 2022 birthday, Mama. I grew up in North Durham near Juniper Street & Alston Avenue. I use to get my haircut as a boy in Hayit next to the Regal Theater on Pettigrew Street in Hayti. I attended Whitted Junior High School on Umstead Street and I graduated from Durham High School. Many of my classmates went to North Carolina Central University. I wanted to leave Durham and the state of North Carolina for better opportunities not afford Blacks back in the early 70's. When I was attending East End Elementary School, I had a little banking account with the Black bank, Mechanics and Farmers Bank located on Parrish Street. It's been so long since I lived in Durham, I get the location of streets confused. I believe Merrick Street was located near Fayetteville Street Projects and WG Pearson Elementary School built in 1929. 2 classmates from Whitted Junior High and Durham High lived over near Merrick Street (Garcia Johnson & Alan Gunn). Welcome Family ! In my humble opinion , we should all focus on financial literacy . Our children and grandchildren must learn from us about making WEALTH and keeping wealth by purchasing assets ,not liabilities! Everyone in our families should segregate from whites and integrate amongst ourselves . Then , found and maintain our own security our own police and firefighters and sanitation workers and postage workers and food delivery service /package services etc! If our children and grandchildren are educated about growing food and making clothes and shoes and sneakers and cooking foods, then how progressive and productive and prosperous would we be if grandparents , adult parents and children and grandchildren were all educated about nutrition and basic general medicine and gardening and economics! We as Adults should gain the knowledge by getting the best education by any means necessary and then bring the knowledge to our family and also we must comfortably interact and trade with Africa and Asia and Eurooe and Mexico and Canada and South America. There's no reason for The Famiky not to trade with China and Jaoan and South Korea and Germany and Mexico and Canada as well
