This game was so much more than just a racing game. My brother and I always played this game in practice mode - with a bunch of cheats enabled. Unlimited time, levitate, and resurrect in place usually. In about half of the maps, there are underground subway systems - with trains that would go from station to station, ramming into you if you got in their way. Along the sides of these subways you can find sewer rats (one of the cheats turned them into giant killer rats which destroyed your car). There were so many offroad locations to explore and collectables to grab that the practice mode by itself kept us entertained for hours at a time.
Totally -- the secret shortcuts, tunnels and all the collectibles made this game amazing. The hidden keys, Mountain Dew cans, the stunt maps -- I killed too many hours playing this game. SF Rush 2049 was similar with the coins hidden everywhere. They don't make racing games like this anymore!
I'd buy an n64 again mostly for this. I have the Rush The Rock Alcatraz Edition and Rush 2049 for Xbox. But Rush 2 here is a Nintendo exclusive. And I miss it!
I personally think THIS, as well as the other rush games should be ported over to the Switch. It NEEDS more racing...especially classics like this. Where's Warner Bros when you need em?

Dont forget the original! SF Rush was also a great game but has like 8 or 6 keys in every track :(
Yup, and the levels in Rush 3 were even bigger and held even more secrets, though there were only about half of them in that game.
