I think to be a fair comparison you should have used an iPhone 15 pro since the other camera you used are the most current models.

Although I agree, a side-by-side comparison might have been easier to distinguish. This is the best low light comprehensive review that I've seen today. Thanks Danny. I also would like to know which key light you're using because I need one.
I have that light. I got it from Amazon under Ulanzi VL28. However, there are two styles for that number. You want the one with the built in cold shoe that looks like the Gopro light mod. I know this because I bought the light twice and was sent two different lights, lol.

Here is the problem and why the Pocket 3 is a bit of a mess. You said, "The foreground and background detail with the Action 4 looks great." BUT you'll never hear anyone say that with the Osmo Pocket (any version) because it isn't possible. Action cams, like the Action 4, use an infinite focus to keep *everything in focus all the time.* The Pocket uses auto-focus that will decide on whether you are focusing on the foreground or the background, but you can't have both without manually adjusting things each time you turn it on. Major problem when you are trying to get a shot quickly. DJI really missed the boat here because they could offer an "infinity mode" on the Pocket 3 that could hold this setting, but they didn't, and we are left to rely on auto-focus, which let's be honest, doesn't always get it right and you lose the footage.

@@simoz78 I pretty much defined bokeh above...right? Inducing this effect makes sense for when you might want it. Auto-focus with the Pocket is far more complicated to provide than what action cams do, which is fixed focus at infinity. My point with the Pocket is that it is an offering (forced infinite focus) DJI could have easily provided and it might even be possible with a firmware update, but since they've never done it with the 1 and 2, I'm not holding my breath. It is a shame because if they did offer this functionality it would be a much more attractive product. Incredible in low light with a 1" sensor, a motorized gimbal that would never get confused like electronic stabilization does, and if they offered fixed infinity focus as a function then you would never have to worry about losing a shot to auto-focus or if you wanted everything in focus, you could have it. 2 out of 3 isn't bad, but for $519 I would want 3 out of 3.
Uff thats not as good as i was imagine it would be. Something is doing Gopro right to get that image quality out of that little sensor i mean the gopro is better than it should be for it sensor size. Thanks for the camprison! 😁👍

I'm really impressed with Pocket 3. I previously owned Pocket 2, but sold it for various reasons and purchased the GoPro 11. However, I ended up selling it and upgrading to Hero 12, but I plan to return it. It's great that DJI addressed all the problems with Pocket 2. The video quality of Pocket 3 is excellent!
my friend, just put the cameras side by side at the same time. no need to keep adding external lights and complicating the comparison.

Does the DJI mic 2 work with the Action 4 without external receiver as the pocket 3 does?
It looks like he is just using the mic internal recording, I think they aren't allowed to mention if it can connect to other cameras yet.
Don't add external light. Don't add stabilizer. Don't shoot yourself. Put all cameras together so we can compare. Thanks for your work but I got nothing.
Can you still run it in horizontal mode without flipping the monitor? Seems silly to have to do that every time. Wish they would have added the ability to be in light rain as well. Price is steep with not a lot of major design changes in the way of weather protection. Adding a bunch of extras is cute but one drizzle and it seems it would be out of commission. Had it happen to my pocket 1. We are many years past that and still no resolution jump, nor water resistance. At least that I have seen explained. Low light looks good.. be interesting to see how they move forward with firmware adding/changing things.
I watched a review of a guy who used it in Seattle while it was drizzling and it held up fine. Hard to say how much it can really take tho

Surprised how a small pocket camera out did GoPro hero12
Great product for those dry sunny days, but absolutely useless for the majority of British weather. This is DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has no water resistant rating whatsoever! What was DJI thinking. To put a waterproof cover on it will diminish the quality of video taken! Really disappointed with DJI!

What was the framerate and shutter speed on the Pocket3 when you were testing in low light? I would imagine a lower fps and 1/60 shutter speed would let even more light in? Was this Night Mode or Normal Mode?

To evaluate image quality we need to see a static shot. Continuous movement isn't at all helpful.

I'd love to see main camera on the iphone at 1x not that wide lens, vs DJI, facing forward, on a city street, not aimed at your face. It'd be great if you could mount the two on some sort of stick so the footage is identical.

Watching on an iPad and I appreciate the comparisons between the cameras and low light capabilities. Been eyeing the pocket 2 for almost 2 years but was holding out for a newer model. If you have the insta360 x3 I’d really appreciate a comparison about image stabilization and lowlight. Thank you for a great video!
This is the best comparison I've seen for the Pocket 3 so far. My use case is recording video for my band at shows. I think the Pocket 3 is going to be the one to get. The low light capabilities are way above any of the action cameras. It seems like I would need to be much more careful with the Pocket 3, but I think that's a fair trade off for the extra features and better video quality. Not to mention the 10 bit color depth.

3:35, you demonstrate that you can connect the dji action 4 with the mic 2? How does it works? is the dji action 4 with Bluetooth function built-in?

I owned RX02 which also has an one inch sensor. I think it is probably time for me to replace it.
Did you connected the DJI MIC 2 directly to your DJI Action 4 or did you synced the audio in post ?

You make wonderful videos, I just returned my pocket 3 because the videos kept showing up blank on the DJI app. videos were able to playback on the pocket device, but not the app. The DJI customer service was terrible and blamed SD card, which was top of the line scan disk extreme. My videos were also absent from the SD card reader when plugged into my iPad Pro and my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I brought the device back to Best Buy and the geek squad said they couldn’t figure out what the issue was and they said it definitely was not the sd card….lol so I returned it.
Hi goose heres a little advice might help if u decide to buy it again , dji has been having this issue on certain cameras atleast happen to me , but a friend off mine figured out , so when ur done and u ready to download ur videos , photos etc , just go to ur settings and turn cellular data off and give it a good 30 sec . And poof done , this is only on iphone hope it helps , be safe
So I went back to the SD card, which I filmed on the pocket three. I did figure out another way to see the videos on iPhone you can use the native app called Files. When you open Files you can see imported are the disk and you can see all the video files there. So I guess I will go ahead and re-order the pocket three lol.

haha i had fashioned a little keylight thing with a phone holder which i had to remind myself what the heck i was making !!! sometimes you get an idea and go out and film and get lost in it all 🥸

yes that would have been a good idea. i started to do that but had trouble making it angle in but facing the other way. hard to explain, but i’ll try that in a video soon comparing the 2 setups in a better way

the real question is if it worth buying over pocket 2 and from what i've seen i cant say like im impressed. For real bro, in low light its not better than p2. And that extra blur in low light looks weird to be honest

@@travelteacher91 the specs speak for themselves. Much higher pixel size (that's pixel size, not pixel count), 10bit recording, dlog profile and 1" sensor. Three years is a long time in camera technology but I'm guessing you don't look at spec comparisons. That's all fake news, isn't it?
