- In the 1996 season, the J.League abolished the split-season format and followed a single-season one. Sixteen clubs played in a double round-robin format,
a total of 30 games per club. With two games to play, three clubs had the chance
to win the league title. If Kashima Antlers (red) managed to beat title rivals Nagoya Grampus (white), and Yokohama Flügels lost their match, Kashima Antlers would be virtually crowned champions, due to their vastly superior goal-difference over Yokohama Flügels. Now Kashima’s Technical Advisor, could Zico finally see his side win the title that had always alluded him as a player...?

この試合で名古屋はその後欧州でスタンダードになった4-5-1システム(コンセプトは同じ)を世界に先駆けて披露した。映像では鹿島の得点シーンばかりで腹が立つがリアルタイムで観た人間の感想としては鹿島は前半アタッキングサードで名古屋の崩しに付いていけずオリビエがまともなラストパスをあと1本出していれば結果は、その後の歴史は随分違っていたかもしれない。あと贔屓目だがこの試合は90分を通してサイドハーフとして強烈な個性を放ち続けたた平野の独壇場だった。単騎突貫で奥野を蹴散らし、秋田をブルンブルンに振り回し、ジョルジーニョさえ手を焼いたパフォーマンスには夢を見させてもらった。
仰る通り、リアタイしてて点差ほど差がなかった記憶あります。
平野はもっと早く代表に呼ぶべき選手でしたね。
この頃はキレ半端なかった。
ベンゲルがストイコヴィッチと共にアーセナルへ連れて行こうとしたのも分かる凄さ！
95-96頃の平野孝はキレがあるドリブルとパンチの効いたロングレンジのシュートで猛威を奮ってましたね
この試合の変則3トップも前半２５分頃までは機能していたけど、オリビエがねぇ…。
前監督ヴェンゲルに「泳いで帰れ」と酷評されたんだよな
このシーズンの名古屋は開幕前に小倉が離脱したのが痛かった。
高卒ルーキーの福田健二や大卒ルーキーの望月重良を起用したりしてたけど、福田はまだ荷が重く、望月は本職じゃなかった。
オリビエやナビスコではポーランド代表のトーマス・フランコフスキーを獲得したけどあまり効果的じゃなかった
真中弟にしてやられたね。
２ゴールとも完璧なシュート、それに加えて接触で平野怪我したんだよなぁ。
