Music detracts greatly from what should be an uplifting moment . No music would be better.

You’d think Lindbergh was crossing the Atlantic with this overly produced music track

Great video. A first flight must be a nerve wracking affair. I particularly liked his thorough and complete self briefing before take-off. What a skill level!

DUDE! I think we met at the Shelbyville Corvair event in 2021. You were in your hangar working on the tailwind. And we were all just hanging out. Congrats on flying the tailwind!!

Great vid. FYI ability to make it back is a function of the airplane and its climb and glide performance. Headwind and runway length are also important. The altitude at the time of turnback is less important; climb to glide ratios do not depend much on altitude. The important thing for survival is not whether you turn back; it is whether you stall the plane trying to land it somewhere. Fewer people die going straight because fewer people stall going straight. So if you are planning to turn back, practice turning without stalling, because stalling and spinning even at 1000 feet is still fatal.

You made the right decision on landing lots of time to figure out problems on ground after safe landing especially on first flight

    Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
Did you make the second video with performance numbers?
What engine do you have on it? And what prop? I have W10 with O300 from an old C172 and a wood prop 68-70. I would like to change the prop to improve the cruise speed. Any recommendations?

I think you did a great job and not sure I would give yourself a hard time for not going around. If the flap handle was acting up and it jams who’s to say you didn’t do exactly the right thing and then evaluate the flap handle situation later. Great flying. Fun times!

Looked good! Im helping an old man finish his W-10.
No way should you have gone around! You had the field made. You made the correct decision.
    Rethink your go around statement.
You'll realize that would have been putting you and the airplane in an unnecessary position.
