Hi everyone. Let's give Gavin his due props and press the 'like' button. It doesn't cost us viewers anything, but it helps him out immensely. I'm from across the pond and love RC KICKS!!! Keep up the good work and glad you are feeling better!!!!
I built the other Tamiya Track truck (Landfreeder Quadtrack) I used bushings on the track where the snow would get and bearings inside if protected. I run it in the snow and the snow gets packed into the tracks and body. Bearings wouldn't last long (rust) even though I put it on a heater vent after running to dry it out.
Hey Gavin you don't want to use bearings in the tracks anyway because if you run in a stream or a creek the sand can get into the bearings and ruined them over and over again so you're good on the bushings for the tracks
Good decision to the bushings. They are exposed to the dirt on the tracks. In the gear box I would change the towards bearnigs to increase the efficiency a little bit. Great video.
I spent 120 for my TT-02 Honda NSX and stuck 250 in the yeahracing aluminum conversion kit, steel gears, and aluminum rims and bearings. Pretty much bullet proof.
I built those tracks up last Christmas as my wife bought me a set for an old CC01 that I have, they it can get tedious building the tracks and yes I managed to make a few mistakes 🙂 That kit looks like a great little kit and I totally agree with you about the bearing, I also just used the bushings.. Love the fact Tamiya makes kits like this, great fun to build and drive
Your sounding much better! You were suffering through some of your videos. Props for hanging in there. This little tracked chassis is interesting. What it reminded me of is the 6x6 chassis Tamiya has, the Kong Head and the School bus and 1 or two others. This looks like a short version. I like how the tracks look, once they get run a bit the gloss will get scrubbed off and they will look even better. This chassis scores high points on the Gerry Andersen scale. I could see this one coming out of a Thunderbird 2 pod and heading off to a dramatic rescue. Why oh why is there not a FAB 1? You know, on a modified TT-02 chassis. Because who doesn't want a 6 wheel Rolls with a bubble top and a machine gun in the grill plus missiles behind the head lights and painted pink? Classic Tamiya artwork box......
I agree brass bushings are the best for the tracks. Easy maintenance. That's why Traxxas uses them in their traxx set. It is a neat quirky kit. Not for me. I would not spend that kind of money for junk Tamiya crap plastic but it was cool to see the build. Thanks for sharing.
I bet it’s actually good fun in that chassis :) I did have the land freeder TT02FT and that was quite a weighty thing built up, great fun though. I really enjoyed driving it, that one came with a Tamiya Ct-tuned motor as standard in the kit, I think a silver can May have struggled , also put a decent servo in as well and the oil shocks, it made a noticeable difference, look forward to yours running
Now thats a build and a half, i think i would leave the bearings out at that price aswell 😯 fingers crossed for the snow 🤞 unless its when im at work 😂
Great video and a interesting kit, I don’t do Tamiya but love watching you content, one day I will build a kit just because I have to get it out my system lol, the unusual intrigue me. P.s also like the new music at the beginning 👍
Hey Gavin, probably a good choice to use the bearing in the tracks dude. I would imagine it would be better on that lovely snow ❄️ finger crossed you get some in Feb 🙌🏻
Hey Gavin I know tracks are the focus here but does the kit come with all the parts to build it as a standard GF01 as well (minus wheels of course). Wondering if this kit can do double duty with a set of tires..
Hi, I think it does come with everything you need apart from the wheels and tyres. I know it has the hex hubs as I remember seeing them in the left over parts.
Gav - would have thought you’d be all over buying your bearings in bulk from China… seeing as Tamiya kits basically use the same 2 sized bearings for everything it’s a bit of a no brainier. Waaaaay cheaper than buying kits!

Thanks for that Thomas, thats most kind of you to say.

I have built these also and thought the same as you
Well done. Another excellent video and well edited. Glad your better. No more Bob Fleming.
When I built the 58690 Landfreeder I put in a full bearing set for £74.99 :P It made the track modules run very smoothly over the bushes.
Thanks for starting this Gavin - I have one of these little monsters to build.
CC-01 soft barrel springs work well and maybe the shock as well with light oil.

WOAH.!! This is crazy cool.!!
This embodies modern Tamiya in the sense that the quirky weirdness is turned up to 11 and I have no idea who its for 🤣
Hi, i would say just buy the ballbearings for the gear
Keep your Land Cruiser.
The Boomerang 🪃 is back baby!!
I’ve a vintage Boomer so it’s not one I’m super excited about. That said a good number of people want one
Great kit and intresting video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

Basically a Konghead in 4x4 with Tracks.

It would be a fun one to turn into a thunderbird 2 internal rescue vehicle for sure lol

I brought it too last month, I thought it was a small kit, but when I actually saw it, wah, it's huge!!
A ton of bearings. The build had to take a while. Can't wait to see it run.
Crazy amount of bearings and the price 😱 come on tamiya at least include half of them .
That sounds great 😃👍 incline automatically you know you for you driving you got to take their test drive so you never break their stride

Are the back trax on the wrong side? Looking at the box they are.
I just checked and yep, the rears are on the wrong side. LOL. Lucky its just a 5 min job to swap them over along with the track change.
These are awesome
Now thats a build and a half, i think i would leave the bearings out at that price aswell 😯 fingers crossed for the snow 🤞 unless its when im at work 😂
The chassis actually looks like a far more complex and interesting build than the comical style of the box art leads you to believe.

Get yourself a Kyosho Turbo Optima kit and you can thank me later. You will love it :)
That is mad as a box of frogs
nylon bushes is better to run in the snow, just ball race the gear box only

Tamiya anounced a few re-re's Nova Fox , Boomerang , green grasshopper
Yep a few reissues but nothing exciting. A few people have been wanting the Boomer but Nova Fox and Grasshoppers are easy to find.
@@RCKickschannel Fingers cross for Moster Racer/King Cab , Couple group C race cars & some more Kyosho Legendary's
Just a bit too niche for me lol it’s definitely a weird one, can’t believe you cheaper out on the bearings 🤣🤣🤣
Tamiya wtf crazy
It is a bit of a bonkers one for sure.

Amazon bulk bearings..
I wish this model came with monster wheels or just normal wheels rather than the ugly track system
You can get this kit with big wheels 👍🏻
If you're not going to build it right with bearing why build it
