Looking forward to this series! The first crawler comp I visited was a MOA and Sporty comp and those rigs were doing some crazy lines. Then if they flopped, the tires were tall enough to drive them up a rock face to right themselves
It's crazy watching them work, yeah! I was lucky enough to drive with the world's best on the Sportsman round back in 2018. People were split into groups of 5 or 6 to go drive their 5 courses for each class. I got to do it with several top 5 ranked drivers at once for like half a day. I learned so much in that afternoon!
I'm looking forward to your series and seeing the different classes you'll be running. I don't compete but I'm fairly familiar with the different classes here in North America and it will be a fun learning experience to see what the rules are in Australia. Take care!
Can't take credit for this one, I bought it used from a bloke in CA 8 or 9 years ago now. I have not done much with it other than drive it plus the little things I mentioned. It's pretty capable, though I'm sure woefully outdated by now. Still, in the right hands (not mine) it's dangerous at comps!
Life is short and mastery is exclusive by nature. Gotta choose what to excel in. I haven't chosen driving this thing, and in March we'll all see the fruit of that decision, haha
This will be a great series, looking forward to it. "I'll show you next time" That's what my last first date said to me at the end of the evening! (yeah I know "someone put a bell on him" lol)
This is a niche of the hobby I've never been able to understand the appeal of (no judgement though!). I will follow this video series and see if I can figure it out 😀
I love watching crawling comps. There aren't any near me, so I gotta live vicariously through you lot. I've thought about building one of those MOA spider monkeys. Maybe one day. There's a few things in front of it.
It's more a tool for a job than it is a scale model. I get more fun from the tiny trucks than from these, but the challenge of competition is still worth something!
Always more to learn and these keep you thinking while driving - whoa, I just realised if I'm thinking while I'm driving that means I need more practice. Subconscious does the automated things we already know how to navigate. The conscious mind takes over when we encounter the unknown. That's why you can drive somewhere and forget the entire drive itself, unless something unusual happens on the way, when your conscious mind must kick in to take over, assess and make decisions. If I'm concentrating with effort while driving this thing, that means I need more practice until the neutral pathways are in place to use the rig to its full capabilities on problems. Hadn't thought of that until writing this comment, so thought I'd share the little revelation. Now it's practice time!
Since NSW had their government formed in 1856, I think it's time to drop the New part lol. Which isn't as bad as a place near me, it's called "Dudley Dysart et al" lol I mean, like you couldn't just pick a name and go with that? I mean ET AL?
No matter how much I try the MOA’s are darn right ugly. I know it’s about performance but it’s like running one of my crawlers with just the chassis. This should be a interesting series & I guess it’s like anything in life the more you do it the better you get. I know I’ve gotten a lot better at being more patient & really looking for the best line to get up sometimes.
Heh yeah, scale is the right answer for fun but competition has its appeal. Well, there'll be plenty of work on the scale class too, starting with the next video!
That's an awesome rig. Can't wait to see the others. 👍🏻
Thanks Rob. I'm looking forward to comparing them on a course soon. Cheers
Since I know nothing abut crawling competitions it will be interesting to learn.
This is going to be great! Can't wait to see how this develops. We're all rooting for you here, Champ!
Thanks :) I'm looking forward to seeing all the guys again, too. It's been quite a while!
Such fun! Looking forward to the series.

Thanks Chris, I'm looking forward to working through the series too :) Thanks for watching along!
Thank you for this 'meet the crew' presentation, great to get insights on tech and competion prep✌
Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it :)
That’s exciting. Good for you. Looking forward to watching all the journey.
Thanks Dan

Haha I get you. Scale driving and social events are where it's at for fun. Maybe we can unlock the mystery in the comp side of things
We'll see!

Yes. They are the answer to the question "what if?"
They are so insanely capable, the fun comes in seeing what they CAN'T climb.

Aaannnnddd THAT'S how A.I. tricks us into surrendering our freedom.
RISE OF THE MACHINES!!!!! 🤖🤖🤖
I, for one, welcome our new Pro/MOA overlords
That rig is Awesome!! Did you say you got that from the usa? 😁 Best of luck in the competition!! Great video‼️👍👍🦾🦾
Heh yep bought it used back in 2014 or so. I like it. Thanks :)
👍👍👍
