  • Hey guys this video we are fixing our ambient temp sensor which was worn out and broken. This caused our AC to blow hot at all times due to it reading a -40 Degree temperature which only allows my vehicle to blow hot air until it reaches 32 degrees.
Hi everyone , this is Chris and Jane we are a couple that decided to leave our old jobs and see what the United States has to offer, and what better way to do that then to become truck drivers and get paid to travel. Come follow us on our adventures.

Carefull with that sensor and keeping it neglected. If you have heated spray nozzles then they will heat up each time you drive until one day they may catch fire. Or your fusebox if any of the old and probably non working fuse won't blow and start smoking instead. Most people do not change their 10+ years old fuses for new ones ever. Best giveaway is if your temp shows something stupid like 9999 minus or whatever stupid number far from reality.

You're missing the under plastic tray where sensor seats. The area you poke your head that's where the plastic tray goes. Sensor seats facing the air as you drive. Tucking it under the car doesn't help.

What's the purpose of measuring the ambient temp?
How would that regulate the AC?
I don't know ehere mine is. I have an E87

Well with some of the newer BMWs with a bad ambient temperature sensors you can actually get a check engine light. Also with BMWs and other cars they use the sensor to know what the temperature is outside and the computers use that info for different systems for AC with auto functions it can use outside temp to figure out how to get the desired temp so in my example the sensor read-40 and the lowest my AC goes is +60 so it had to blast the heat to try and get the cabin temp to my setting.
And if you look in the engine compartment around the passenger side near the headlight area look for 2 blue wires with stripes and it should lead you to the sensor
