The Hidden Figures movie is great. The woman who wrote it grew up around all the real-life women. They lived in the same town, went to the same church, etc. It's very cool.
When I saw your post about covering this show in a first impressions, I went to go watch it and oh my god it's SO GOOD!!!it's the kind of cartoon you can just sit down and enjoy casually without being borderline obsessed with it. Because with most serialized shows, the only people who actually enjoy them are the devoted fans, while casual viewers get bored very quickly and move on. This is because these shows pander so hard to their fandoms with cliffhangers, theory bait and world building that they alienate the majority of their audience who just want to enjoy a funny show with cool characters. And that's why they get so boring and samey. Because fandoms want the same things over and over again while casual viewers want a variety of shows that try new things. Show producers should focus more on making their shows entertaining for a wide spread audience than pandering to the small minority of obsessed lunatics.
Wander over Yonder isn't adventure fantasy, but most of the fandom treats the show like it is. I had Continuity, but isn't required for you to read a wiki page about Wander's shoes or whatever. It's episodic at heart. And while season two has more of through line, you can still drop in at anytime and not be lost. Also, Devil is a puppy who I want a plushie of.
God don’t you just hate that moment when you try to build a power generator but it turns out to be a portal to another dimension full of dinosaurs. It used to happen to me all the time.
I have high hopes for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur! I already see it becoming a cultural reset and most importantly I want to see break the 4 season max and last 5 or 6 seasons (and a movie!)
I understand your frustration with serialization, it's always a prelude to the show totally fucking up. I mean if I got punched in the balls every time I opened the front door of my house, eventually I'm gonna stop answering the doorbell.
The first six episodes are in Disney plus and it hasn’t hit serialization but the 5th episode is the best episode of the series so far

And then in the season two opening had Lunella being beaten for several minutes
Gotta say that the more of these positive tropes about healthy family dynamics are becoming more visible, it really makes me look at my own writing and reconsider making my own writing with biological family dynamics wholesome and throw away the dysfunctional aspects of it. So while I’m glad for this, I’m sad to see Moongirl going the serialized route and not going keep this upbeat energy. Also I agree that heroes should be more involved in helping and giving back to their communities, as with that you could have a good mantra of “it takes a village to raise a child” bringing it home, as there was someone a little more smarter than me who pointed out an interesting point how the MCU even has this problem with their movies where the heroes aren’t making much of a cultural or local impact in giving back to the community (minus Spiderman) and focus only on big world ending threats.
To be fair to comic Lunella, who is indeed less likeable than cartoon Lunella, she is in a position where the system and everyone around her is failing her. Even the superheroes are failing her. And she knows it. People know she's up there with Reed Richards in terms of intelligence, and yet she is still stuck in a public school doing work that is tedious to her. It's understandable she's a little bitter and full of herself when the world seems to insist she isn't special when she clearly is.
Okay I got a case of whiplash by the ending. All the happiness and gushing turned really dark really quickly
Absolutely loved this video of you dissecting the first episode. So great to hear someone praising such a fun and enjoyable show like this. Currently excited for episode 5 and 6 to air tomorrow on Disney Channel.

hey lily! thanks for introducing me to this show! also I am pleased to report that it never went serialized (unless it does in the last 3 episodes) this is one of the most wholesome shows I have seen and every episode has a good lesson for kids, I just wanted to let you know, Love ya!
