Epic Mickey was the BEST game ever
This game scared the s@it out of me when I was little
Is epic Mickey really epic?
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Yeeeessssssss
Indeed EPIC!
Bad opinions exist
yes yes yes *yes*
*Happy M.Bison noises* Yessssssssssssss!
Agreed
this is the exact definition of a game that needs to be remastered.
Oh yes when i was 5 i play it with my bro and and i love it

Yes. I don't know why but it scared the shit out of me, but i loved it.
As a kid i was always scared of Yen Sid XD Nothing else just this Magician
Lmao same! I never wanted to move on in Level 1
Lol same but I still loved the game.
The first half of the 2010s was obsessed with the word "epic"
The second half of the 2010s was obsessed with the word "toxic"
Boy if that ain't the truth. It's seriously annoying.
Toxic Mickey
Don't even get me started on "literally" and "cringe"
2014 gave us Angry Birds... You guessed it, Epic. But at least the word is correct.
and now the first half of the 2020s so far is obsessed with about 50 words and I have no idea what most of them mean
Epic Mickey WASNT using “epic” in its title, it was using an epic, like a tale
That... makes a lot of sense considering how grand the story is. Or, dare I say, how *epic* the story is
Not that would be Mickey Epic
ThatDamnScottishGuy yup
@ThatDamnScottishGuy
Or the epic "Mickey"
Wouldn’t it have been “Mickey’s epic” then??
I would definitely want an Epic Mickey remake on current gen consoles

Disney developer: makes a game that doesn’t do so well.
Disney: “alright time to shut you down.”
every time
Same with any flop or mediocre revenue experiment that Disney has
epic mickey 2 would have been better, but Disney forced the creators to make it in 2 years. epic mickey one was made in 7 years, so there was limits
That's what _every_ company does when a game doesn't do so well. If the game doesn't do well, its not all that worth investing in. As cool as the concept of Epic Mickey is, it makes sense why it got cancelled, as the gameplay is one of the most important aspects of a _game._ This isn't one of those "Disney's so evil and greedy" moments this is a "the game flopped because people didn't enjoy playing it" moment.
Take the Pikmin franchise for example... the game didn't sell as well as other game franchises, but it _always_ gets really good review scores because the gameplay is enjoyable and well executed. The series only gets 1 new game every 5 years or so, but if the franchise got as bad of reviews as Epic Mickey it wouldn't still be around.
Don't get me wrong... I love the concept behind Epic Mickey, but the gameplay was _really_ not all that great.

Using literally and toxic nowadays is just literally toxic.

SliceySlicer I don’t mind using toxic if the context is actually toxic. The issue is people getting into an argument with someone and instantly claiming that the opposing side is ‘toxic’

I don't get it
If anyone was curious as to what Walt was “offered” then here’s the gist of it.
Universal basically bought off Walts animators from under his nose
They drastically cut his budget
Pretty sure they would have payed him less
So yeah he went home on a train depressed, and spitballs ideas to make ends meet, creating Mickey Mouse
Fun fact: The guy who gave Walt the crappy offer, if you remember Pixar’s “Up,” the main bad guy, they based his name off the guy who screws Walt.
It's so satisfying to hear a person got revenge in one of the most subtle ways possible.
Phrasing
I loved Epic Mickey, it's dark and brilliant at the same. It also brought back Oswald and people still remember the character since.
This sounds a lot like a Kingdom Hearts plot, are we sure this isn’t King Mickey’s backstory?
I actually put up a theory at some point where this is how mickey met yen sid. However, it creates muötiple contradictions, so I rather not.(even tho the KH plot is just one major contradiction anyways)
I love how you have one of the generic scientists from Half-Life.
At least we have Oswald in Five Nights at Treasure Island. 😊

I had the exact same thought haha
Bruh i never knew i was just a different version of kingdom hearts XD
Yep before kingdom hearts went crazy there was Disney Fallout, I mean Epic Mickey.
So You have chosen death…
@Grey Dragon i believe the blot monster is based of the "Phantom Blot" a forgotten mickey villain that mainly appeared in the comics.
I wished you talked more about the original concepts of the games and how much darker they were, things like your choices changing Mickey's appearance and making him only a beastly rough sketch if you did mostly bad things, more disturbing looking beetleworx, and an extremely disturbing possible fate for Oswald.
I want edgy original concept epic mickey. Feed me edgy original concept epic mickey.
Randy what would have been Oswald’s fate?
@@dylan594 Originally, it was planned for Oswald to fuse with the blot and become this massive inky beast, and was also probably planned to die with the blob when Mickey defeated it.
Of course, Disney wanted this out since it not only extremely grim but would kill the character they JUST got the rights back to.
@@randtastik Oswald was originally going to be the villain. They then scrapped that and also had plans for him to be an anti-hero instead. That was then further changed to the Oswald we now know today. The resentful, fallen star who eventually warms up as the game progresses.
I'm glad they went with this instead as it just seems more fitting for him. Bitter but not evil. His story in the game in general was pretty much perfect.
The original concept for EM1 Oswald was even referenced in the Diorama section of Epic Mickey 2, by A.B.E. The blot-Oswald amalgamation was dubbed "Storm Blot", and was considered to be the Shadow Blot's most powerful form. This is true if you look at the concept art of the Storm Blot penetrating Wasteland's sky, abducting beloved characters such as the Genie.
If this was made today it would be called "Based Mickey"
That opening scene was terrifying as a kid.
It was my worst nightmare.

Charles Crone actually,i really liked the gameplay. Yes,the camera is trash, and mickeys movement is kinda spongy. But the fights are fun,the riddles are too,and i really liked the plattforming parts. Might be because i grew up with this game, but as i said,i really liked the gameplay.
Jannic Oder so for the longest time, this was my favorite game ever made

Me 😮
I feel like this game is getting more popular and making a comeback
True
I hope it gets as strong a second wind as Minecraft or Lego Star Wars. I love this game so much, it's my favourite of all time.
It definitely deserves a remaster. Make the gameplay a bit smoother and polish up the graphics a bit. Maybe they could add some voice acting to the cut scenes too. (They were good in Epic Mickey 2 so maybe just get the same cast)
Put it on the switch, make the final story tie (hopefully) into Kingdom Hearts, and deal with the Purpose of Yen Sid making Wasteland in the first place. Save VA for non- cutscenes, FIX THAT CAMERA SO HELP ME GOD, and introduce the Evil Pete Gang (which was teased heavily by PO2 ending)
Matthew Williams honestly, an Epic Mickey world in Kingdom Hearts would awesome. I can imagine Tetsuya Nomura would have a lot of fun with it.

Who's here after the remake was announced?
Me!
My favorite character from the Epic Mickey has to be Oswald. I didn’t like him at first because I felt like his attitude would make irredeemable character, but later on in the game he would become nice to Mickey.
Finally someone is talking about this game, one of the best Wii games I played
I also grew up with this franchise and I would at least call it innovative.
I remember looking at old Disney cartoons and wishing something like that was made again since I as getting kinda tired of all the CGI animations that were being made. When this game was announced, it felt almost like a blast from the past, but still reimagined as a game for older audiences. Disney were testing the grounds of stuff for more mature audiences (besides the 7 and 8 year olds that watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), and I give them credit for that.
As you said, a lot of love and passion went into this game. I got this game on my 10th or 11th birthday, around the time it came out. I loved diving into that game's lore and art. It inspired me to follow art and go to an arts school. I remember some of the concept art for this game giving me chills, and I wasn't expecting that for a Disney game. It surprised me in a pleasant way.
Though I do stand by something you also said: the gameplay was tricky at times. I never really felt bored with the paintbrush mechanic but the camera angles were very annoying at times. I didn't really bothered to buy the 2nd game since I didn't really had an X-Box, or a Playstation 3... or any console at all that could read the game XD, but I did look up gameplay and what the game was about. I liked it, but it was a big "meh" compared to the original one.
I still think the 1st game was a big shot in the dark that actually worked pretty well for what it lasted! I don't know if I would call it epic but it was certainly a very interesting experience and take on this franchise usually targeted at young kids.
"Hey Good News"
definitely remember being so hyped for this game and while it wasnt bad at all, I was like I thought this was going to be way darker. The concept they had for this game was really ambitious at the time, even my mom was like wow mickey is going darker
I played this when I was three and was terrified. Im not as scared but still mickey went dark.
@@jammychoo for some reason i played this when i was 4 and was like this is fine
Apparently it was gonna be way darker but they had to tone it down for obvious reasons.
@@staticchimera44 I know
@@staticchimera44 Actually, not really. The drawings people claim were concept art and that were way darker than the actual game weren't going to be in the game in the first place. I once saw an interview with the director, I think? (if someone asks me I can look up for the link), well, anyway, there he says that, when he got hired to work in the game he wanted to "test" how lenient Disney would be, so they made a bunch of creepy designs to show to the higher ups. He also clarified these drawings were never meant to be in the game or shown to the public, but now they're on the Internet and people just spread misinformation.
Now, I don't really know about the changes *in the story.* But I can say that the dark concept art wasn't going to be part of the game to begin with.

Mark i just have to say your voice is absolutely great not to irish not to british and sometimes helps me fall asleep after remembering sonic 4 exists.
My parents don’t often buy me video games, so I STARTED the series with the second game (which they bought to allude to our upcoming Disneyland trip), and I don’t know if it was simply the sheer excitement of a new video game combined with that of a trip to Disneyland, but I LOVED Epic Mickey 2. Of course, it has its flaws. In the Junkyard or whatever that level’s called, Oswald is supposed to offer to throw you up onto a ledge, but on ONE SPECIFIC SAVE FILE HE NEVER OFFERS (the same thing also happens in Mean Street South, where you’re supposed to get thrown onto a clock), and the alternate path out of the level involved keeping Invisible Ink on long enough to pass a camera that would shut the door to the exit if it saw you. Needless to say, the ink ALWAYS wore off before I could get past the camera. I beat it flawlessly on a second save file though. The postgame is rather simple in that there isn’t one, aside from wrapping up all the quests you haven’t so far. I think really it was just the appeal of bending reality to my will that appealed to my 11 year old brain, LMAO. Anyways, point is, this is a very good review that I’d be hard pressed to argue with. Good work!
