Another great video scratching right where I itch! Looking back on my past year of weddings, all of my "excitement lighting" makes the reception look like a rave. Now looking forward, some future clients like this effect and some asked if i could tone it down. I noticed in past videos you use full size Inno spots at weddings which cast beautiful designs. What do you prefer to use this year? Coupling some washes with that? I'm so close to buying new stuff, but wanted to ask my youtube hero what he thought first! Thank you SO MUCH, Brian, for any input. :)
I've always used some kind of wash fixture with the heads. You just don't see it very well from my camera's point of view. Your comment about "rave" lighting at a wedding is a problem I think a lot of DJs have. Maybe less rave & more circus midway lighting sometimes :P Effective lighting is something that I should probably do a video on sometime.
k discotech Yes, that's the most practical for sure. Beams are very hot right now. You see them on TV quite a bit on stage shows like "Talent", "Idol", voice, and award programs. If you can incorporate them into a mobile production, it's very cool stuff. However, the no-fog alternatives are probably best for most.
Hi Brian - thanks for the informational video. What brand of lighting are you using here? I am currently researching different brands, and was hoping you might have some insight on imported brands such as Lixada and UKing. I am new to the DJ game and would like a lower cost setup as I get going. Thanks!
I'm thinking about getting some of these there so little and cuite. XD even though I work on professional lighting equipment I can play with these at home.
Yes. I'm not into "lighting industry" (I mean, I not work with that). But seems that this small lights fits the need for an "home setup"... But, seems to be discontinued. Did you know any alternative?
interesting, i was actually looking into getting a wash lamp, pretty much the same as the 4 LED one you have but by another company so it can accompany my martin mini mac profile and my BEAMZ S2000 RGB smoke machine :) so, this video summed it up pretty well for me, and by the look of it, the lamp/s themself seem pretty small in size ?
Great informative video. thanks a lot. I want to buy a couple of lights for house parties. I won't be using DMX , just sound-to-music . what moving lights would you recommend? I think spots are the best for me . What ones are you using here ? thanks
hi, thanks for this. I was looking for this information. But I have a question. I want the beam / spot or wash get wither-smaller ( narrow) by DMX. So manipulate the angle of the beam, according to the musik. Do you know what scanner / movinghead or other effect can do this in hight speed ? Thanks in advanced. Marcel
Hey Brian... Thanks for the Video. Very helpful!!! Greetings from Germany :-) You really helped me with my decision. now i have 4 into pocket spots and i love them. Also the hint with the 4 bag. Great!!!!! Keep it up ;-)
You usually use 2 of each type of fixture e.g. 2 spots 2 washes, this would look great. Put spots on M and S1 and then put washes on S2. Just shout if you want more help or visit www.liteitup.ga thanks
Thanks a lot for your guidance. May I ask with minimum equipment how can I get a Beam/Spot light on Bride and Groom Dancing like ''Mr Beans" serial. Or rather what can I use to focus the Bride and Groom...Thanks for your help :)
Thanks very helpful, I have mini Led moving stage lighting head, plus vocal star 4 can par with t bar, this video will certainly help make a Decision of what’s next to buy
Which is better for say like a bat signal... I want to use one on top of my offroad trailer so when wheeling at night we can always find our way back to camp ..
Any videos of mini spots AND mini wash fixtures running together? I have 8 mini spots and I am thinking about buying 8 mini wash fixtures, if I link them all together will the colors on the spots run the same as the colors wash. (gobos and wash same color) ??? any videos???
Do you have to use a dmx controller to make them cross and dance like that and stay mirrored to each other? Or can you just connect them to each other and use a certain setting?
briansredd I don't know if you can put this in to ADJ or something but they should do a contest to have someone do their best mix and lightshow and the top mixer would win some lights or something and their mix would be used by edgar bernal for one of the tradeshow light shows
Lasers are a different animal and are in no way like beams. Yes, they both have a defined edge structure but lasers can make any shape they want by moving the beam faster than the eye can see AND beams source from a single filament or array of LED's whereas lasers are a concentrated beam of high energy photons. This is me being a picky laser nerd but, lasers can be dangerous and should not be compared to beams.
Who the fuck lives their lives just going to videos just to leave a thumbs down??? like, why are there 52 thumbs downs on this video?? It blows my mind that 52 people came here JUST to click that thumbs down button.. amazing.
Short and straight to the point. Awsome video!
Great post. Very efficient right to the point explanation without making it too lengthy.
Excellent, concise and straight to the point. Very much thanks to you!
Thanks!! Very useful info for those of us who are clueless when it comes to lights for stage

Nice. I think beams is for clubs while wash and spots is more for djs. Great video

Every lighting fixture I like needs fog. I hate that. It's a big shame. .
k discotech exactly same here. I love the Elation Platinum Beam Extreme 5r! :)
DV events DV didn’t need fog back in the day when smoking was allowed in clubs
Just wanted to add my thanks too. Had seen what lights I wanted but didn’t know what they were. I do now!
Simple yet brilliant explanation. TY

Thanks for the video, has a question. Is there a huge difference between a 30 watt and a 50 watt moving head light? Any info would be great
Mainly, it is just the brightness. The more watts usually means the brighter the fixture will be.
I'm thinking about getting some of these there so little and cuite. XD even though I work on professional lighting equipment I can play with these at home.

VERRRRRRY HELPFUL!!! great video!
Thanks for the informative video!
Witch one would be the best for a disco ball?
sorry, I'm a newbie in a production house. are fogs needed to make the aerial effect?
ivanng 2014 yes

I think an awesome wash (moving or static) and between two to four moving head spots will cover pretty much anything
nicely explained!!
Great informative video. thanks a lot. I want to buy a couple of lights for house parties. I won't be using DMX , just sound-to-music . what moving lights would you recommend? I think spots are the best for me . What ones are you using here ? thanks
Nice record collection imagine having the dollar amount for the actual cost of each one still payday
Great Video Brian
I don't have a lot of money for lighting, what lights would be a main necessity for mobile DJ's. I currently have the Chauvet swarm 5fx.
what are the 3 models? Thanks
Adj Inno Pocket:
Beam
Spot
Wash
Is 2 spot (moving), 2 wash (moving) and 2 strobe wash (bar) good combo?
Awesome video man. Well explained.
Perfect, brief explanation. Thanks!!

Hi, Can I use 1 from each "Wash"and "'Sparky"' or will it look odd...for a Indoor Event??
You usually use 2 of each type of fixture e.g. 2 spots 2 washes, this would look great. Put spots on M and S1 and then put washes on S2. Just shout if you want more help or visit www.liteitup.ga thanks
