  • Irwyn Ince & Mark Vroegop stress the significance of recognizing and preventing pastoral abuse in religious institutions.
The first step is acknowledging abusive power dynamics and establishing methods for staff to express concerns about potential spiritual abuse, including annual evaluations and accountability structures. They also underscore the importance of senior leaders recognizing their influence and creating secure environments for voicing concerns.
Additional recommendations include seeking outside assistance, continued training and education, and having accountability processes in place to deal effectively with abuse when it occurs. While complete prevention may not be achievable, the emphasis is on equipping individuals to identify and respond to abuse and offering support for its victims.

"You can't do it perfectly...." Yes you can, with the power of God. Pulpit and pew church is SYSTEMICALLY disobedient to God, therefore waling in the flesh SYSTEMICALLY. Gods's instructions for "meeting together" have no pulpit or semon, only "one another" function. Heb. 10:24-25 and others. You reject these by ASSUMING into "preach the word...with great patience and teaching" into 1. Lecture the word - all dialogue EXCLUDED. 2. One man for the whole time - all other gifts EXCLUDED. 3. Restricted to men with Bible degrees - all laity EXCLUDED. These are phony rules of men at the FOUNDATION of church, so everything else build on that foundation is polluted. You accept pollution. You say you set up procedures for cleaning it up, but they will ALWAYS FAIL to clean up because your foundation remains polluted.

I really hesitate to say anything here because of how it might be received but it’s too important of a topic to let it go unsaid. I’m not familiar with these pastors, and therefore have nothing against them personally whatsoever. I also have no intention of tearing them down, but here’s what I do know. I know what spiritual abuse is and what it isn’t. It isn’t just a mistake, it is a toxic pattern involving behaviors such as intimidation, control, manipulation, and deceit. These pastors clearly have no idea how damaging it is. If they did, they would never say that despite their efforts it will continue to happen. That’s like telling your congregation that despite your best efforts to train the children’s ministry workers, children are going to be abused in children’s church. No one would EVER have tolerance for kids getting abused, but somehow it should be understood that pastors will continue to spiritually abuse their people? It’s clear they have heard about this type of abuse but don’t understand it and don’t really believe it’s that harmful. Their solutions were weak at best and offensive at worst. As a Christian counselor, I would strongly suggest you take the video down.

I agree except keep the video up with our objections showing. I gave several biblical objections to the WHOLE SYSTEM OF CLERGYISM as abusive to God's instructions for spiritual leadership and the bogus philosophy of hired, title wearing, claiming authority to "rule" in church. The scripture EXPOSES all of this as sin, so abuse is normal and everyone likes it. We should discuss this even if you don't like what you hear me say at this point.

No, the world came in 2000 years ago with clergyism - the false exalting of one gifting to dominate church life and SYSTEMICALLY abuse the laity in perpetual dependency. It should have been cleaned up at the Reformation 500 years ago, but they polished it and perpetuated it. So the ABUSE continues. Most saints are so dumbed down in faith that they like it, submit to it, and pay for it with their alleged "giving." We can discuss this more. I have given scripture above.
