It’s 1:38 that really seals the deal for me. From 4:00 on as well I’ve heard a lot of music over the years, but somehow the raw quality of this track just hits different
The beat is so different, presumably el produced it? And this really came out in 94? If so this shit is really on some next. Legendary song, kinda makes it tighter that you have to search for it
Fuckin' " white rapper". That's some funny shit. El is a fucking beast...period. Dude eats faces man, straight from limbo. Killing the beats and lyrics.
In terms of @ THEIR ABSOLUTE ILLEST, Em: 96/97-02/early 03 is HANDS DOWN the DOPEST & I've heard NUMEROUS nice white MCs agree w/ this. From Diabolic (REAL ill underground white MC), 2 ILL Bill, 2 Apathy, 2 Copywrite, 2 Brother Ali (I say he's white, even though he's an albino and SOME say he's black. Not true), 2 Slug. RESEARCH quotes from ALL TIME legends like Kool G Rap, Rakim, Nas, Monch, Common, Redman to name a few on EM IN HIS PRIME b-c in diff ways they ALL say he's one of the illest
every tracklist with this song on it says that it's actually a six minute song, is there a verse missing from this or something? if so, can someone track down this full version?
@kwyjibosinkus In terms of @ THEIR ABSOLUTE PRIME, Em: 96/97-02/early 03 is HANDS DOWN the DOPEST & I've heard NUMEROUS ILL white MCs agree w/ this. It is hard to put anyone over a giant like Eminem, but I think I agree with whomever said that El-P is the best white rapper. The man is a true hiphop legend, and a mogul in his own right. He is at the top of a game that he made up the rules to. He never jumped through anyone elses' hoops to get where he is, but instead succeeded on a strong work ethic and confidence in his knowledge of how hiphop artists feel about hiphop. It is the latter that has brought def jux such a mighty roster.
"I wanted to listen to music, not think!" .... never said that, i used listen to sole and buck 65 talk about poetry in rhymes. Ive listened and thought about aesop rock, i mean what do you want me to say, you say artful abstraction? to some degree, but thats just my opinion about him.
If art came down to technicality it would be boring as fuck imo. And yes for me, Lil Wayne has done a few tracks that made me feel *DAAAYM* and so has Aesop, maybe Aes did more, idc. But yeah I agree, technically Aes is way superior, maybe in another league, but what does it matter? And if that holds you from listening to others music, I pitty you.
this shit has gived to me too much... they has been like no one. Sincerely i dont like the last music from el p,mr len is disappear..maybe the best is gone. much respect
like who? DEL is the shit. Canibal Ox comes to mind...but anything else? Dont you dare fuckin bring up Aesop rock with his jibberish nonsense, not to say FLOAT and Labor Days werent dope. But I still stand with what i said.
I'd rather hear clever, artful abstraction that literal stupidity. Being able to follow every word of a verse does not make it good, just as not getting all of it does not make it bad. Poems have poetry in them, after all. Its interesting how offended people sometimes get by things they don't understand. You're all like "I wanted to listen to music, not think!" How dull.
@jcuenco1106 u need to sus out some of the aussie white rappers there not my fav but are better than this el-p guy. check out bliss and esso. or hilltop hoodz.
why does it matter if hes superior? aesop is superior to lil wayne in every way and all of lil waynes material is egotistical. im not lying when i say i hate lil waynes music.
89.9 wkcr yea bobbito n stretch armstrong put me on ta dis damn how hip hop got so watered down. Its muzik like dis that make u realize that

This a dope ass beat I started highschool listening to this
I bought the tape version of funcrusher plus back in the day because it had this song that wasn’t on the cd.
Interesting. I had the cd back in '97 or '98 and never knew about this song. I guess they left it off due to time limitations on the CD.
Instrumental is really amazing........... Lyrics complexity too
thx for the upload
I grew up to this shit! muthafuckas lived this

@TheDailyOperator Dope upload - props crate diggah! I just wanted to ask if there's instrumental anywhere available... ?
Why does every hip hop conversation get reduced to who is the best.
Because its hiphop. Lol
@@gepettowins Exactly. Everyone is out to be remembered and revered as the best in some way shape or form lol
because there is no best, there will never be a conclusion. so the discussion goes on and on and is brought up again and again
The Achilles Syndrome. Legacy is all
wow. echo the sentiment: I didn't even know this track existed.
Real hip hop. 2018
el-p threw this on the new funcrusher+ rerelease vinyl

Negatory, my man. The hardest El-P ever came was on 89.9 Detrimental/Vital Nerve. That was pure raw...so raw you gotta say rawr like the GZA.

@skalanthrax Poor People's Day was sick - The overall mix down sucked though.
good thing this didn't make it on Funcrusher Plus tbh, it's cool but it's not on that level
it was on the tape, its one of my favorite cuts from Co-Flow EVER

somebody can tell me the original sample????
