- If you saw my last video then you know I am obsessed with all things TEA...china and food . As a birthday gift to myself I had planned a intimate family tea party in the garden but the weather was not cooperative here in North Carolina. It was either too hot, raining or too many mosquitoes. Instead we decided to have an indoor British style Afternoon tea "party". Since Khalid was home I decided it was an opportunity to also give them an etiquette class.
I am not sure what was harder, preparing the food or the kids reaction to everything! Hope you find video helpful for your next tea party or get together!

Habiba, I LOOOOOOOVE this video!!! I’ve been waiting for it. I’m a huge tea drinker, and I have tea parties for one. The kids made me laugh so hard. I’m stealing your sandwiches ideas - never thought of adding grapes to chicken salad (green apples, yes), but I’m trying that. I think I’m going to have baby croissants for the chicken salad. Khalid, everybody loves smoked salmon!! The only thing missing was Kenton clowning at the table 😂 I have to favorite this vid 🤣🤣🤣. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY 🎁

Black currant is my favorite too! It's lovely of you to teach your children manners and etiquette, as it's often lost on modern generations, especially outside of Europe. I also really appreciate the clotted cream & scone recipes and the sugar cube instructions. I don't know why I have never thought of doing them myself. God bless your beautiful family.

This was such a wonderful post! Your children are soooo sweet. I taught my son etiquette, and people would come up to us in restaurants and compliment us on how well mannered he was. More parents should be as conscientious as you. You children will be heads and shoulder above many others. You should be proud!
I bet the kids would like a do over. You mom is very lovely. You should be very thankful she went all out for us. Mom is amazing, thank you for going the extra mile in showing us how to make these fine things.

Thank you for this very thorough tea party posting. I’m very impressed that you made your own sugar cubes and clotted creams. A couple of years ago, it was very hard to find how to make clotted cream. The sugar the first for me. You are a lovely woman, and you have beautiful children.

(I'm joking. I could go for a sang’dwidge or a sammich or a hoagie right about now)
It's not often that you see an American family teaching their children etiquette for a formal gathering. Your children will be so happy one day when they have to participate in a formal social situation
It was so funny watching your children being '"teenagers" and testing your patience. LOL... I'm sure that all of you will look back at this video with fond memories. It was so incredible of you to prepare everything from scratch, set a formal table, get dressed for the occasion and have your children participate. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I thought that this video was just fabulous! You went through so much effort to have a fun time with your children (and to share with us of course) and it looked like it was worth it. You really reminded me of my mother. I'm Jamaican American, but my Mom was born in Jamaican and raised by our grandmother who embodied the epitome of British etiquette. From we were little, Mom taught me and my sister impeccable table manners and etiquette. The funny thing is, you would be amazed the number of people who've asked me to teach them how to have table manners like mine over the years. At first I thought they were joking (and some were) but especially in college a bunch of people were serious. One guy even said he wanted my help because his parents never taught him. He knew that it was something he knew he really needed to work on before he graduated and started his working life.

This video saved my life. I had to attend and help out with a family tea party, and I had no wowing recipes to bring to the table... Then I watched this video, and i knew exactly what to serve! I personally think that the chicken salad sandwiches complimented the more citrusy teas, rather than english breakfast or earl grey, and the smoked salmon with cucumber had more of a present yet subtle flavor when paired with the earl grey, english breakfast and rose hip teas. But I HIGHLY recommend these recipes if you happen to be in a pickle and need off the bat recipes for afternoon tea. Also, the etiquette lessons and advice were a great refresher for me and your kids were hilarious.

I'm live in NC too !!!! This was a very nice video My son and i have tea a lot . My go too tea for Afternoon tea is black , or English breakfast . If you are ever in the Charlotte/ Pineville area the Ballantyne Hotel has an amazing afternoon tea . There is also a lovely little tea shop in down town Pineville called unwind coffee and tea . The have a really good selection of loose leaf tea's that are so delicious . Also side note did your daughter really put milk in what looked like green tea ? lol looks like she changed her mind about that half way through . This was a cute video and you have a beautiful family !!!
