Its nitro rules, which also make the race more exciting. The drivers NEEDS to take the joker 1 time every heat, but they can choose when to do it. If you pre start (have no idea whats it called in english lol” you get to do 2 joker laps.
@Trento James In Rallycross, not just Nitro, every driver has to take a joker lap. This, in turn, makes some great strategic opportunity to shake up the race. For example, if you are following a car and you feel like you're gaining more than the lead but you have a hard time overtaking, you can take the joker. Since you are faster than the lead you may come close behind and when it's the lead's turn to joker the lead will come out behind you. However, if you joker and there are slower cars behind, you may get caught behind them and get stuck on their train. You can also use the joker to defend if a car that already jokered is gaining, you need to joker the next lap to get ahead of that car.
