First of all I would like to say God bless the good ol' Grateful Dead! John Perry Barlow rest in peace. You wrote the lyrics to this song and passed away to the unknown world three days ago! Thank you Grateful Dead Entourage for all things capital things!!!
I love The Grateful Dead's music so much! Jerry was an awesome guitarist and singer and a beautiful person! This kind of art needs to be brought back into the world!
It's in the world..What we actually need more of is people who appreciate it...I am afraid with this iGeneration, it may be curtains for us all soon anyway...
It's not too late! It's just going to take us folks with a strong heart to start being truthful and stop being so immoral and superficial and show them that love feels so much better than hate. I truly believe that if people embrace love, then they will inherit it, but if it's hate, well, unfortunately, it will end bad for them. I choose peace and love.
Tim Halcomb Well, have you been to Haiight Ashbury lately? I lived there in 1980's and it was cool..Go check it out now...You will piss your pants...It sucks!
There is a lot of truth to what you say. I've kind of lost touch what first brought me to them and I have become a little angrier, This song I have always liked, it's like a stress reliever for me. Glad it's up. Always liked the studio version better.
Where there is a lull of truth, an institution springs up. But the truth blows right on over it, nevertheless, and at length blows it down. God bless the grateful dead and their fans, peace in the middle east!
this was my first favorite dead song... it was the last song further played at my first show merriweather 2012 a few days after I graduated high school haha!!!
Forevergratefulfor the grateful dead. To my first doses and listened to shakedown street and friend of a devil and dark star. Fell in love with the music. Made my tripamazing I feel likethey are always trying to give us clues and hints about something that's governmentaly pre. Planned. And wen I became homeless 6 times all I had was a dissconrcted phone with 2gb card and if it wasn't for the dead I woulds went nuts. And and blue point brewery on long island NY I saw Mickey heart. And caught
Shipping powders back and forth Singing "black goes south and white comes north" And the whole world full of petty wars Singing "I got mine and you got yours" And the current fashions set the pace Lose your step, fall out of grace And the radical he rant and rage Singing "someone got to turn the page" And the rich man in his summer home, Singing "Just leave well enough alone" But his pants are down, his cover's blown
Awesome song, awesome video you put together with the dice!! This is REAL MUSIC!! So much better than this bubble gum teeny bopper puke that passes for music today. I think all teens and others in love with Justin Beiber should have Grateful Dead Deprogrammers take them in a room and force them to listen to the dead until that Beiber shit is gone lol!
RevRay Green.÷ It's Greene. And Hallelujah. Thanks & Praise To The Most High. Jah Rastafari. I & I. Lord of Lord's, KinG of King's. Conquering Lion of The Tribe of Judah.! Give Glory to Creator, and Love to Mama Allah.
You were always the person you were gonna be regardless of the Dead. The music eas just the catalyst for your persona. The big misconception out there is that Dead Heads are these loving, beautiful people. And a lot were. But take it from a vet of the "scene" there were a lot of criminals, thieves, child molesters, domestic abusers etc in the following crowd back in the day...We weren't perfect, but when the music came on, we mostly got on the same wave length and it was good
And caught Mickeys drumbstivk that he actually used. And I just love the festy season always bring good people who share n care and walk around naked like fuck underware got dreads on my head now lets practice free love sorry no bed but I got a hammack in my tent.
I was at the "LIVE" Satellite Broadcast of this "GANG BANG" ( Concert/Event ) 1987/1988 Grateful Dead New Year's Event Broadcast Very "WAVY GRAVY" style event Gang Bang Cheers Oh the VODKA is so so very VERY ELECTRIC... Sort of HAIGHT & ASHBURY meets THE RUSSIAN DELIGATION during an official toast ( STATE DEPARTMENT PROTOCOLS ) Voda Nyet VODKA Cheers
Well there's still Widespread, all of the bands the Dead members are in now (Further, The Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, etc.), String Cheese, etc. Teeny bopper bubble gum shit was around the same time as the Dead were but they're all washed up drug addicts, now. There still is good music out there.
unless you play a part in a band its not your way of life..music can be a soundtrack to your own life but don't let a bunch of people you never met determine your future...the dead cant teach you how to raise a family or support one, I love the dead but don't live off them....im not tryin to be an ass just an opinion
Somebody made me think 9/11 and Sandy hook tragedy in the "There's a fear down here we can't forget, hasent got a name just yet" ashes ashes all fall down.
They are kind of dying out, unfortunately. There is no longer a venue for newer "kids" to hear this music. With all due respect to the remaining members of GD, their dizzying array of project bands they do separately never did it for me.I feel lucky I was able to see GD and even JGB in my younger days...Kids today are plugged into some real mediocre music, it fits with their mediocre lives, the chances of them stumbling onto great music like this is slim..They have to be turned onto this stuff
30 years and this song is still spot on.
+Eber Lambert Yes.
I think one of their greatest studio songs ever! Great message, great song!

This song has been stuck in my head all day!
Great song. So many truths we ignore while we chase nothing.
The dead, always looking out for us, swallow a couple hits and ride the music all night long.hell yeah!!!
their music always changed my mood
Bad ass song!! One of my favorites!
Great upload...thanks.

I didn't understand, then I started to listen. You are correct, sir.
Me and my Dad use to listen this song. Ah good memories :)
