UPDATE ! I just pumped the Stormrider from completely empty to max pressure of 200 Bar,... 100 pumps took it from empty to 160 Bar & 120pumps total to go from empty to full (200 Bar).
I'm 66 in average condition bought the stormrider and a hand pump like you did I'm now waiting for my compressor to arrive. Unless I'm doing something wrong you people are full of it that pump crap bout killed me!
This is a fantastic assessment of your theory pumps versus output. For anyone wanting to shoot pcp and your a hunter you don't have to have a high end pcp or regulated gun and a hand pump will do,im 67 and still handpump. I also have high-end pcps that are regulated but shoot on the low end of the shot string which amounts to about 1/3 less shots no prob in a hunting situation and just like what is explained here is a workable situation with a handpump.
David! Glad to see you with a new video. Happy new year! Some of this was a bit over my head, I mostly enjoy my crosman 1377, 1322, and Sheridan bluestreak. pneumatics, but always enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming. Best to you.
Thanks George :) Yeah, this is my first PCP (pre charged pneumatic) air rifle which runs on highly compressed air & they have their own on board tank but I do love the simplicity of pump air guns ;)
Great review...I like the gun and very good choice for hand pump...I just looked and the gun is 230 euros and pump on eBay starts at 40 Euro...I think that's great price....I'm in France and I think that's probably best value PCP available

@@matthew33721 Compared to uisng a hand pump for my .30 cal PCP (which needs 3500 psi for 18 shots), it’s a LOT less calories needed to get a shot off in a springer.

Nice video. Sounds like you added the regulator, so how about a new video or at least a comment telling us about how that went, where you bought the regulator, how tough it was to install, and how well it works. Thanks.!
It's really not that hard to pump a 100 cc tank. All pumps are not pumping the same amount of air per stroke. BTW: I was told the sweet spot is between 170 - 120 bar. Artemis PR900W Gen2 is almost the same gun. It does have a regulator though.
Hi David, I've just spent my evening watching your airgun vids! Loving the analytical thought that has gone into your mods on the chaser. Do you think the Chaser stock would fit the Stormrider without too much modification?
Well, a full cylinder is half or less,... Max pressure is 200 BAR but at 100 BAR its only shooting at about 600 feet per second & has about the power of a $90 Walmart air rifle. At max pressure of 200 BAR it produces less power than at 150 BAR & isn't as accurate. This is common with unregulated PCP rifles. It's sweet spot is 150 BAR down to about 125 BAR where it's accurate & has decent power,... I clocked a Starling yesterday at 65 yards. I get about12 shots from 150 down to 125 then do about 30 pumps to top it off back to 150 BAR,... You can put in a regulator for about $100 which will give you constant 130 BAR from 200 down to 130 so you can use the full tank but that takes up air space in the tank.
According to a video from Pyramid Air with some specs from Diana, the "optimum" pressure seems to be at125 Bar,... I don't know how many pumps from zero to 125 because I have never emptied it but it takes about 55 to go from 100 to 150 & about 30 to top it off from 125 to 150. I will be putting in a regulator soon so it will be empty for me to try it.
man ive got a jts airacuda max and ive got a hand pump im getting so annoyed pumping my gun i considered getting a vevor pcp pump but alot of people like them but some people say it stops working so ive got no idea

This is the time of year dor deals & I always get the protection plan for that stuff because its usually about 10% of the price of the item. This
I don’t see why you’d do 30 pumps of a pcp for 7 pellets. Far easier with a gas ram or springer which you’d only break 7 times so far less effort for the same number of shots.
Yes, there are several brands of regulator but some are adjustable so you can control the power but the Stormrider seems to be more consistent at about 125 bar of pressure,... Watch this video, it is very good explanation of the regulator :) ua-cam.com/video/wluKuTRfJto/v-deo.html
Hi David what was results on ur chaser mods and how did u get there I’m having trouble getting more FPS out of my 22 I’ve tried all kinds of mods out of both with no results
The .22 gained only about 12% more velocity but with the 14.3 grain pellet, that amounts to 26% more muzzle energy so while I am happy with the extra hitting power, it's not a huge difference,... One thing I wish I did was to chronograph the results after each modification to actually see what helped & what was a waste of time or even hurt performance. I did not like the idea of a heavier hammer spring or stretching it because I don't like the idea of the hammer hitting the valve stem harder,... Instead, I went for a lighter valve closing spring inside the air cylinder so the valve opened easier & potentially longer to release more air,... I also drilled some alloy out of the front end of the cylinder (drilled 3/16 or 5mm deep towards the CO2 inlet) to allow more air. Also drilled out all the ports a little bigger too but as I said, I don't really know which mod helped lol. I also like to put a little Moly grease on the parts of the hammer that slide into the tube for less resistance.
