*"King David's love for Absalom is touching, but it is also a reminder of the importance of discipline and justice. Sometimes, true love requires us to make difficult decisions to protect our loved ones and prevent the spread of sin." To everyone reading this comment, may God give our brothers and sisters the wisdom and courage to make the right decisions, even when they are difficult.*
Yes, Lucifer is behind all of this but GOD gives us a choice to accept or rebel against HIM. One day, we will be FREE of this sinful flesh and rid of satan and all his followers forever. I can’t hardly wait THE DAY!!!
This shows that if anyone doesn't allow God to guide and heal their wounds, it can affect more than just the current moment. This even makes me think more long term values I can bring to the hurts I'm dealing with and will deal with in the future. Such a great explanation of Absalom.
Great story and well narrated. I was always fascinated with Absalom, especially the way the Bible described his beauty in great details. I'm saddened by the way he died. May we all learn about pride and disobedience.
Yes, but I wonder why King David didn't punish Amonn for his perversity towards his sister? Isn't that rape a horrific act? Tamara was with her life destroyed, but no one cared! The lesson is that our actions and decisions have high good or dire consequences. King David, though he allowed Absolom to return to Jerusalem, didn't want to see him, so in his heart, he didn't forgive his son, and the consequences were tragic. I wonder why the Prophets of King David's Kingdom couldn't help the King in his discernment. This is one of the sad stories of the Bible, and many others are sad as well, with harmful consequences. Everything we do has consequences! The answer is to turn to the Almighty for guidance before making decisions. May G-D continuously bless you, and may we allow ourselves to listen to HIS Voice.
The story of Absalom is a striking reminder of how unchecked ambition, pride, and vengeance can lead to devastating consequences, even within a family. It makes me wonder: could King David's inaction in punishing Amnon be the root of the entire tragedy? Or was Absalom's rebellion inevitable given his character and circumstances?
This story always pissed me off, even before I survived rape. Had it been my brother, and my dad didn't punish him after 2 years, I may have killed him. David definitely dropped the ball here. This is entirely his fault. He grieves the rapist son but did nothing for his daughter. Disappointment in every way.
This is wonderful...for me personally I never understood why David did not deal with the rape of his daughter. Legally and spiritually, he had the right to give her justice such a crime demanded.
Such a sad story... David literally running from his son 4 his life... Absolom filled with such pride; he didn't think 2 use his sword 2 free himself when his hair got caught in tree... SMH...
Joab is possibly the most interesting person in David's story. He was the indispensable right hand, always willing to break the eggs to make the omelet. He was so loyal that he would always act in David's best interest, even when ordered not to do so. If you wanted a dirty deed done, Joab was the man to get the job done.
Absalom appeared to have more qualities than just handsome for the people to join him. If he was entirely wicked would people support him in that endeavour?
@@solomonbeckford1885 you are right he I agree with you 💯% He was a good man remember he stood up for what is right and being fair and the people loved him for that .The family was going good until his brother raped his sister and nothing was done , so it was not Absalom that betrayed the family it was his brother that caused everything and King David was not being fair about the situation he did nothing it was all a chain reaction. It is not good to favor children but to love them equally whether male or female.
I think Absalom had good reason for what he did. A lot of people were not happy with king David and if you really look, David did not care that his daughter was raped. He did nothing but absalom took care of it.
I ask the question : Was Absalom trying act valiantly and taking revenge for his sister or callously using the situation to take out the heir and make a grab for the throne?
Their are so many parallels between the story of Absalom and David and the story between Lucifer and God I wish somebody would do a sermon on just that.
The mistake he made was not going to his father and petitioning him according to the laws of Moses which clearly say any man who r/\pes a woman shall be put to death. David would have to had heard and considered absalom as long as he brought a second accuser. David was not above the law, and used it against absalom because he did violate the rules. If He and his sister had made their claim against their half brother properly, David would have had full authority to exhibit the justice that was right, both in the eyes of God and his people who would have seen the favoritism to avoid execution as an affront to what Israel stood for.
Christians should be the first to vote or they will lose the freedom to worship and evangelize, this is how and why this nation was born as a nation under God
You're wrong. That sin by David was dealt with by the death of him and bathsheebas 1st born. The prophet Nathan told him so. David repented and was restored. How were you linking this to what David did to Uriah?

Seattle. The paintings or photos of the people that you're talking about are beautiful, however, it would be nice if one person always looked the same even if he had long hair or short, in some of the frames I don't know who is being depicted; like when David is older, you show him with short white hair and beard, is the person he's talking to Solomon? It's just hard to keep the characters straight when they always look different. Thank you.
I love David. I've learned from both his good and bad. Sometimes, as parents, we can miss something going on right under our noses. Clearly as king and as large a family as David had, surely he servants to help care for personal matters going on with his family . So for Absalom to request that his sister to prepare food for him in his presence should have been a red flag for David. Tamar was so young and unaware that she probably did not notice the inappropriate stares of her brother at times or the inordinate amount of playfulness he engaged in with his sister when dad wasn"t looking.😮 This was a request that should have caught David's attention but clearly his focus was on other matters and he missed it and paid a heavy price because of it.😢😮
To take action against his eldest son and heir would have been a much more complex decision for David than it may appear. To publicly punish his heir would have damaged his legitimacy in the eyes of the people and possibly driven him to rebellion. The choice between his heir and his favorite son must have appeared as a no win situation to David.
What I have never understood in the four years Absolom plotted against his father, that nobody from David's court caught him in the act and sent word to David? Or, how did David himself not somehow get wise to what his son was up to?
This story is like the human version narrative between God, Christ, and Satan in a sense. David the father and ruler, is a man after God's own heart. Christ is like Solomon, who went on to construct and build ""the temple"". Satan is like Absalom, the most beautiful of the sons, yet rebelled, was banished from the kingdom, grew prideful and wanted to war and take his father's throne (heaven). The story is the epitome of "let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
Did either father or son seek the Lord’s advice first? Or the advice of David’s closest to him, such as Joab. Absalom showed a quiet vengeance which is very sad because he grew into rebellion which showed a heart full of pride. Combined with all that, he was headed for disaster. David knew his own sin and wrongs, and was willing to admit it. Absalom wasn’t willing to admit anything. We all want to blame someone or something. Perhaps this story should highlight David’s humanity as father and what that means and king and what that entails as well as Absalom’s rebellion and pride and what results from this. Both suffered loss and regret.
In my point of view the king should have bring him in front the public for discipline even stir of the hair to the throne seem that he already hare right away but y, he is a man of understanding a wise king David could it be because of his worng doing his decision surely had and out come
