This built is on fire! Glad you used some Ice pedals to cool it down. Also, another tip when buying pedals: make sure the pins are actually screwed through the pedal (otherwise it's really hard to get them out if you sheered them off).
I have started to ride on flat pedals after 19 years of being a SPD fan. It was a quite big shock for me not to be connected with my bike, it means not clicked on :) They are DMR V12 Magnesium. I really love them. I have installed them in my winter muddy bicycle. After few rides it was perfect. I feel more safe in a dangerous situations. I have started to jump as well and I like it. I am even quicker on the descents than before with SPD. I remember the old flat small pedals from the 90'. They were dangerous and very slippery. I hated them. NSBikes is the best bicycle company from Poland. They are producing stunning bikes, especially their RONDO gravel bikes. As a XC fan I really like the NSBikes Synonym RC1 with the most radical frame angles.
I use the Catalyst flat pedal, once I tried them I ended up with 3 pair of the things. They're the longest flat pedal around, but not the widest, they are a little narrower than the PNW flats Ive got here. They provide a lot of foot support, which for mt biking once you try it, it works really well for me anyway. Being longer hasnt meant more pedal strikes, its the sides that hit rocks. They're aluminum and big, so not light. But they work so well I dont care about the weight. Almost no one ever tests the things, they're the one pedal thats different from the others.
Thicker and wider pedals also tend to cause more ground and obstacle strikes. But the pedals also go hand-in-hand with the cranks and the bike geometry... As well as riding style.
Modern pedals are so much better than the old steel-toothed bear traps that were around in the early 90's. Those have left terrible scars all over my shins and calves and the grip on them was questionable!
Interesting you show the nukeproof horizon pro flat pedals with pins missing. This happened to mine as well. Any tips for getting the ground in mud out of the pins to be able to tighten them up?
My friend runs those exact same pedals different color though, borrowed his bike for a day and they are pretty gripy and at that same day my foot slipped and got a pedal to the shin. Really hoping I win this hardtail I really wanna go back to mountain biking again
Ya, with my old pedals I would often (nearly once a ride) get foot cramps that would force me to stop. Not that they were bad pedals (DMR V6), but rather my foot folded around like a taco. Got a new bike and treated myself to some new Stamp 2's in a size large. While waiting for shipping, I rode a bit with the old pedals on the new bike and still got cramps. Have not had a foot cramp since I installed the larger pedals tho
I run these on my Dirt Jumper and spank pedals on my full sus just ordered a new set which reminds me check your spelling when googling them Spank paddles is somthing else 😂
2 weeks ago I had a crash involving slipping from the pedal, now my knee and shin looks like the pictures you blurred, nasty. And yes I'm buying a knee and shin guard now.
If u haven’t bought any yet, I’d recommend a pair from endura, can’t remember what they’re called but they have 3 Velcro straps so you don’t have to take your shoes off to take them off. They’re also one of few knee/shin guards that aren’t a hardshell
Nice tips.. i have dmr v12 magnesium flat pedal on my ns suburban bike .. and aa video says i recommend to tighten the pins before the first ride.. because sometimes come little loosened from fabric.
@Lukasz Ignasiak hello i still have that pedals with all the pins... I do street riding, jump, etc.. don't know about trekking biking.. but the shoes sole wears out fast...i have holes in one lol.. you can't change the height i think.
I'm using a nukeproof evo pedals with an Adidas busenitz skate shoe but I'm getting too much grip my feet end up stuck in crazy positions any tips maybe smaller pins?
Though it may seem obvious to some, good advice all around. I prefer composite type flats, as they take strikes with less feel to the body. I also tend to remove the pins near the the axle, just comfort, or a preference for me.
how much should the pins stick out? if your shoe has groves that are 2mm, should the pins only stick out 2mm? or does the amount not matter? don't want to ruin the shoes if they are sticking out too much. Have the pins be longer all around and shorter on the inside? or would it be better to have longer pins on the far left/right and shorter towards the inside of the bike?
Amazing pedals and build. Be good to win it as the pedals would match my white t-shirts, I've got loads of white t-shirts! they are great t-shirts! the best t-shirts!!
Love flats, but I just bought what is available in my country. I would like to see high variety to choose... mhhh probably I would choose the worst with so many options.
I use Flat MTB pedals on my Single Speed, I just remove most of the pins 🫣😅 Nah seriously, I don’t like to be held in like that, I like some repositioning along with the grip, the two inner most pins to the crank itself generally stay
Hello i really wish to win this bike.. Right now im putting away some money to buy a bike to go with my friends mountain biking i tried it twice and i love it.. I love hardtails coz ive ownn a bmx when i was young.. But given the current prices of the bikes i cant afford it.. I wish more power to your channel and godbless!! Ride safe!! And congratz to future winner!!
Dude I want this bike sooo bad how can I win it I want a bike for my dad so I can go biking with him. I am subscribed and have been waiting for this. Let me know how I could win it or what I could do.
@@chainreactioncycles I just completed the survey thank you sooo much! If I won you don’t know how much that would mean to me! My parents don’t feel the same about me spending lots of money on a bike so I need to get one for my dad so we can go biking a lot
Hoping to win this bike so I can have an even better excuse to make my way out to the trails and experience a full-on mountain bike, but whoever does get it is certainly going to have a beast of a bike
My shin checked my pins last week... definitely all still their 🤙🏼

looking awesome!! who ever wins it is a very lucky person!!!
Looking good I love the white color of the pedals
Number 6, correct shoes, my £80 shimanos, crap grip, my £20 sports direct airwalks, perfect!
I have started to ride on flat pedals after 19 years of being a SPD fan.

Beautiful bike! Winner is going to be very happy.
Wouldn’t have called these “underdog” pedals... but hey a great choice regardless
Fair - they were too good not to add to the build though 😍 and they're not fully mainstream like a Shimano, for example...😁
@@chainreactioncycles Brendog, underdog ... let's not get bogged down, a dog is a dog 😁
@@renifeer very good... boy 🐕
Such a sick bike. Great choice of parts too, what a build 😎🤘

The brendog pedals 🤤 love my DMR vaults
I always wear shin pads when riding and have zero scars on my shins because of it, definitely worth it
Brendog Vaults sweeeet!!!
This is one sick hardtail
Seriously impressive build gents! I am incredibly excited to get my shins destroyed by these DMRs
This build looks INCREDIBLE!! Good job guys🤜👌
Absolute weapon of a bike 👌
What a killer bike!!
I'm excited to see and to drool on the complete build. :)
i like every single piece on this bike...
OHHHHHHHHHHHH THE DMRSSSSSSSSS Best pick of the series
Awsome pedals these, for an awsome build!
The bike is looking great! 😎👍
genuine interesting build not going to lie
I love flat pedals!
nice choice the pedal look great
Love them 10/10 HAPPY DAYS!!! 🤘😜
Cool video CRC! I gotta see some shin strike pictures👍 and that is one beautiful bike to giveaway! 😍😻
Pedals look good, would love to try them!
Those pedals just go well with the bike
Man mtb is life it will be a dream come true winning this bike
Thicker and wider pedals also tend to cause more ground and obstacle strikes. But the pedals also go hand-in-hand with the cranks and the bike geometry... As well as riding style.
I use the dmr white composite pedals.
I cant wait to see this arriving at my doorstep
This is one of the best looking hardtails i’ve seen and its up there in my personal ranks with the nuke proof scout
Modern pedals are so much better than the old steel-toothed bear traps that were around in the early 90's. Those have left terrible scars all over my shins and calves and the grip on them was questionable!
That looks amazing

Where can I get those pedals? They’re beautiful
Great choice.
Glad you like our choice Robbie!

..."I used to be a mountain biker like you, till I took a pedal to the shin."?
Nice pedals 😀
I love these pedals
Why isn't there an ideal foot size guide for pedals like there is for frame sizes?
Ya, with my old pedals I would often (nearly once a ride) get foot cramps that would force me to stop. Not that they were bad pedals (DMR V6), but rather my foot folded around like a taco. Flats r my tools! This underdog b is closer to perfect
I run these on my Dirt Jumper and spank pedals on my full sus just ordered a new set which reminds me check your spelling when googling them Spank paddles is somthing else 😂
Ooh need me some new spank paddles.
I got a shin strike with these dmr and man it wasn’t fun lol. The pins are larger then most other flat pedals I’ve used as well.
Football shin guards work well too

same! I love my raceface chester's! cheap, aggressive, composite, awesome
I used not to ride shin pads after two strikes in the meat of my shins I use them nearly even when I'm working on the bike :)

Why are none of the cool aggresive hardtails in stock ???????
Love flats, but I just bought what is available in my country. I would like to see high variety to choose... mhhh probably I would choose the worst with so many options.
Nice!!!
Now keep them in-stock. No offence. I run DMR vaults
This bike is looking amazing.
It'd be like a Rolls Royce after a 25 year old Apollo. 😂
Front my leg is also badly wounded. This pins really cut if manage to slip of the pedal
We know first hand how sore that can be Marcin ❤
Def should give me that bike 😂
DMR V6 pedals = best pedals ever made ! and if they ever fail, theyre only $20 !
Can you just use chain lube instead of grease? What about Vaseline?
We wouldn't recommend chain lube for a pedal, assembly grease is the way forward for sure!
The build is coming on swanky, nice choice of pedal....
We can't wait to show off the finished bike Keith!!
I use Flat MTB pedals on my Single Speed, I just remove most of the pins 🫣😅

Just starting out on mountain biking. Not expecting anything. But putting my name in the comments
Where is the torque wrench???
Ya please 👌
Sweet.
Also don't just start out and try/fail at bunny hopping with flip flops/thongs. Still have the scar ;). Not really grippy.🤣
Are any of these pedals in stock at CRC? No, of course not. Nothing is.

They look nice, but 430g and 17mm height for that price is yikes...
GET ME THE KONA KAHUNA I WANNA BUY iT
Ouch,,...
My old DMR V12's have left an impression on my legs. Scars make you interesting! Thankfully my face has yet to become interesting.
Never understood why clip in pedals are called clipless! Aren't flats clipless because you don't clip into them.
Because the clipless pedal replaced what was a hoop of material around the toe area called a toe clip.
@@russella7263 Still doesn't make sense since you're still actually clipped to the pedal.
