Oh yeah.. attention
You can use the app SOLAR SYSTEM SCOPE.
Use the "night sky feature" and move Ur phone ( the app will locate the planets, space craft's etc..on the night sky even if the starts are not visible ). You can then see precisely the conjugation.
You can also fast forward or rewind the time and see the planets getting closer and closer if you missed the opportunity

I seen a star slowly moving across the sky last night in south Australia. It was cool.
I have a celestron travel scope hope I can see the Jupiter bands and Saturn rings
the Star of Bethlehem is thought to have been a conjunction of Saturn Jupiter and Venus check the Wikipedia page about it to see the citations and also look on UA-cam "Star of Bethlehem astronomy". I'm not religious but it's ironic that Christians don't like astrology when the Persian Magi were astrologers

@Ronan Whittaker I believe the cross paths every 20 years, but them appearing this close to one another from our perspective happens every 40 conjunctions or so. Hence the "Grand" Conjunction.

I set up a ladder and 2 milk crates with my binoculars, cleaned the lenses with everclear haaaa! Really I did.

In 1994, I bought a C-5 to take with me to watch an annular eclipse less than 50 miles from my house. That C-5 has seen another annular eclipse in 2011 and the total eclipse in 2017. Both planets comfortably fit into the field of vision provided with the 26 mm eyepiece that came with the telescope. I have a C-8 and a 4 inch refractor (and a Coronado 60 mm solar scope). That C-5 is my go-to scope, tho

So I just ordered your Celestron Omni XLT 120mm Refractor on the CG-4 mount. Ordered a 2" diagnal with the Luminos Barlow and Luminos 15mm eyepiece. Close to a 1000 dollars in so hopefully I have a front row seat to this event lol.

Hi there! How about with a Celestron travel 10 mm Eyepieces that magnifies 40x ? Would I be able to see Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons?
At 40x you easily see the moons of Jupiter (you can see them in binoculars). You see Saturn's rings as one ring. Saturn is moving to the far side of the solar system from us this season, so it appears smaller and fainter than she did in June.
The objective this month is to see Jupiter and Saturn in one view. Lower the magnification the earlier you can do that, and therefore the longer into January this event will last.

How did you do that Fov simulator?
Quicker and to the point without fluff.
How to view it. Point your red dot or spotter scope between the two. Mount your largest eyepiece and look. 900mm/30mm (30 mag) easily captures both as of last night.
Will be closer still over the next two weeks, so you can capture both with a higher mag eyepiece like a 20mm as of next week.
Higher mag on Christmas week.
If binoculars, they are already close enough the whole month. Buy/borrow a tripod if your binoculars have the mount. Celestron binoculars do. Most birdwatching ones do also.

While stargazing the other night I noticed that Saturn and Jupiter are in between the constellations Sagittarius and Capricorn. This indicates that mainstream (Western) astrology isn’t astronomically aligned. Wouldn’t Saturn and Jupiter’s energy be influenced mostly by Capricorn since it’s, in fact, entering that sign? What are your thoughts on this?

my life long hobby ( obsession ) is linguistics .... i learned the name of the planets in many many languages
i learned the name of Jupiter in Babylonian and some Arabic / Aramaic dialects ( still used today ) is Nibiru !
It actually refers to Jupiter conjunct Saturn when they just come out of a dual retrograde ( Like this coming conjunction ) where they are extremely close to one another and their closest point to Earth . When this occurs you can see the rings of Saturn project on either side of Jupiter , it appears as Jupiter having wings ( Nibiru ) in legends it is said Jupiter is a usurper trying to steal the crown of Saturn !
This go-round it occurs in Saturn's house leaving Jupiter debilitated !
This will play out on the world stage in the houses of government . It will appear as if the Jupiter factions have won the day to only be found usurping ( cheating) and stripped of all their powers ( Jupiter in debilitation ) . we will see new governments form world wide in the coming years leading up to the second US eclipse in 2024 completing the seal ( a 7 year period starting with 1st eclipse in 2016 with the great conjunction 1/2 way to the next eclipse 2024 ) to establish a new paradigm or a new ideology for the future !
footnote : a planet is at it closet point to Earth during a retrograde period

Can’t seem to find any Celestron SE telescopes anywhere without a price gouge.
Atoms create dust, and dust combines with eachother, and the clump of dust gets bigger and stronger, and starts gathering more dust, so technically planets are dust, and is it going to be close enough to each other to pull each other together and cause both planets to collide?

21st December. Look at the southeastern sky low on the horizon after sunset. You can actually see it rn as two shining stars after sunset and its getting closer everyday
U can use an app called SkyView lite its AR shows it all! ;)

You can also lean on a tree or lamp pole or probably a short step ladder, put your elbows on a gas grille, or anything really solidly in the ground that's not a person.
If you are brave, put your smartphone camera lens up to the eyepiece on the binocular or spotting scope, but you'll need to set the exposure to the dark area.
I'm just curious, does anyone know what time of day (GMT) the conjunction will be at its closest. Would just be good to know..
According to the Sky at Night magazine the best time to see the conjunction will be 20, 21 and 22 December, the narrowest separation on the 21st 40 minutes after sunset.

Bear in mind the two planets will be within one arc degree if each other from December 12th through December 29th. So hope for clear skies on the 21st, but you should have favorable skies during this period, at least once.

What eyepiece shall I use for the SLT 127?
Regardless of the brand or scope line. Tube Focal length (FL) divided by eyepiece FL is magnification. Low magnification means larger eyepieces.
Right now you want 30 mag.
Nextweek probably 45 to 60 mag (likely your 20mm).
Keep going down in eyepiece size (up in mag) every few days.
Guess i picked a good year to pull my telescope out of storage
