What a Brilliant reverse rainbow Connections!
Phew! I have failed this game too many times this week. I was so glad to avoid mistakes today.
Red licorice is not actually licorice. There is no licorice root on the list of ingredients. But close enough. I love real Australian or Finnish black licorice.
    Nice Mini.
I needed help too. I didn't see the bottom Y.
My mojito anecdote. I was on a business trip and my first dinner instinct was to go to an American style diner just across the street. Solo, quick, cheap. But I wanted to be a team builder and decided to join my coworkers at an ethnic restaurant a couple of blocks away. We had good times but one of them decided to order a ton of mojitos. And another one ordered an extra dish in a doggie box for next day's breakfast. At the end of the night, everyone's share of the bill was $53. The company limit was $50. So we weren't fully compensated for our expenses. The next time the mojito guy participated in an annual company-sponsored charity rally, I didn't contribute $50 like I usually did. I gave only $47. Call me Orange County.
    Perfect Strands.
I started with the spangram. I didn't enter wrong words but I made two clumsy mousing errors, "attempting" to submit words that were incomplete and too short. So not ultra perfect for me.

A wooden duck would be a decoy because it would be in the water to encourage real ducks to come in to land as it appears safe.

I was amused that they clued MOJITO with the cocktail-making term that people didn't recognize recently in Connections.

Amazing you found purple first & got a reverse rainbow. Way to go! That was very hard today imo.

I agree, Connections was easy. I also scored the reverse rainbow perfect solve but not as fast as you did. What made it easy, many of the words could only mean one thing. There was relatively little crossover.
As for the Mini, I had a hard time, took my 10 minutes to finish but I didn't give up or take a hint. I had
    TAFFY instead of HONEY:
    PIG instead of STY
    DIAMOND instead of OCTAGON
    JEWELED instead of BEJEWEL
    TEN instead of ACE
Eventually was able to fix all those errors

Was convinced that the green category was called "sticky organic matter" lol. Well, I learned that latex comes from trees today!

Only got yellow. Mini was hard and Strands was really easy.

I died on the hill that they were referring to Ben Shapiro too 💀
It was a tough one for me as well so given that that was one of the only ones I got, I convinced myself it was right until the checker humbled me lol

IMHO the Mini today had really bad clues
      1. “Ben Shapiro problem”
      2. Shape of the grid if you squint? I originally put down “Rhombus”
      3. Dafuq is “New Agey”?

I found connections really hard, just wasn't able to make the red and black leap which made disambiguation blue from purple at the end really tricky, I did a little better on the crossword (knowing Len Goodman from the UK version of Dancing With the Stars definitely helped since I knew he was on both versions, though I did need to look up the journalist's name), and did about as well on the strands - I think the first one of those I've done where it felt remotely competent at it.
