My 2019 has no creeking anywhere. I brought a spare tire for long trips. The lock situation just dont put your arm up another easy fix. I’ll use my Honda EK for that.
I thought of getting this car the model year 2014. But seeing the flaws on this 2019 I am forced to keep my 2006 BMW 330i. Best car I ever owned with bullet proof engine 👌
Owned a 15 c250 Sport+ for over 5 yrs & were still on the original brake pads, were one of my most reliable cars I’ve owned & I owned quite a few. Unfortunately I passed it down to my wife a few years ago & after a while we sold her off. Only issue I had with it was the driver door inner handle snapped n couldn’t open it so had to roll window down to open it from outside (embarrassing af)!! Ship tell me I can only order a complete door panel for 1500 so i left it alone until a audio installer was wiring my car & somewhow tied the wire together & fixed it back in seconds. Now I got my wife a 15 cla250 4matic, so far so good fingers crossed. Tho I just removed the 17s for AMG 19s.
Yooo I died when I read the window part 😭. And yeah, a couple people have told me that. It may very well be that I got one from a bad batch or something lol. Idk. I actually have the 2020 CLA and it rides A LOT better and none of those problems from the video, yet 🤞🏽
Currently have an Altima, looking at a 2017 CLA with 22k miles for about $23k. Altima is 2013 with 35k miles. Not giving me any problems or anything. Thought I’d get something fancier. What say you Vro?
Vro! Keep the Altima, for now - especially if it’s not giving you problems. Unless you’re ready for the expensive ass REPAIRS, and the inevitable flat tire/cracked rim on that 2017 CLA, I wouldn’t stir the pot too much. I know the CLAs look cool but I can tell you that I feel that my 2018 CLA left me feeling like i wasted my money and should’ve gotten something else. Sometimes I’d be driving on the road and would think, man, I bet that Toyota Camry don’t have the same issues that I have with this entry-level, supposedly “luxury car” lol. Full disclosure, I do now have the 2020 version CLA 4Matic but I’ve insulated myself this time by prepaying for repairs, oil changes, and tire damage insurance when I signed my lease. Lesson learned! Don’t get me wrong, the car looks way cooler than most cars in this class but I think that’s about it. And to be honest, the 2017 cla looks dated to me. If you do end up getting it, PLEASE get the one with the bi-xenon lighting package (like the lights you see in my video). Otherwise, I think it loses the cool factor. I’ve seen ones with the normal halogen lights and I go 🤮. Hopefully that answered your question lol. Feel free to reach out if you think of something else!
Damn to be honest, your video is sealing the deal for me. I've been through a searching spree to find the issues in this car as I'm looking to get a CLA 200 petrol 1.6 liter (2016). The rims on them made my heart melt but I drive in Finland which means road conditions are quite bad most of the year so will definitely end up with this issue. Giving up on getting this car makes me sad because it felt epic to test drive and in the price range I'm looking at (max 30k€) this is pretty much the only decent looking new-ish entry luxury Mercedes you can get (not getting an A-series those are awful...). And you even ended up liking it enough to get the newer CLA to replace it, must be a good car in general. My alternative is a 2017 Audi A5 with the facelift. The only downside to that one is a smaller 1.4 liter petrol engine and it's a pretty big car for a coupe-sedan, making it difficult to park in city driving etc. Also, you give up a loooot of features in my price range - no sport seats, no front/rear radar, basically only the car and the engine lol. And people complain about the S-tronic transmissions breaking on their automatics. Deciding on an entry level "luxury" car brand is so difficult! Seems like every time I fall in love with one, I end up finding out all the faults and have to find another one or increase the budget.
Hey Ville! Yeah finding an "entry level" luxury car is tough, as you're finding out right now. There’s always a compromise with features. With this 2018 CLA 250, I sacrificed not having a premium sound system. But since the car looked so cool, I kinda looked past it. Even with my new 2020 CLA 250 ( i might just make a video about it actually), I sacrificed not getting the 64-color RGB interior lighting package which I REALLY wanted. We just can't win huh lol. But I'm extremely happy with it and it literally has everything else I wanted: 4matic, Burmester sound system, ,custom xenon headlights and taillights, sunroof, it's a cool blue color, AND the tires seem to be wayyyy better. Haven't had any pop yet 🤞.
I have the A3 and friend has the cla I can say get the A3 he would too the quality in the interior is far better leather hood touches no creaks loud bass speakers roof also , the transmission in my opinion is far superior the. Fourth, i dont mind the cracking, remove the shit and put super glue, problem solved! (Ive done it, i mean if you are handy and dont call AAA when you are out of gas) Fifth, wear seatbelt, that it! Sixth, just a bunch of stupid complains, i thought it was going to be something serious like a transmission that fails, engine noises, faulty sensors, electric problems, i mean something that really its costly, not this 5 stupid complains! And yeah, im still going to buy my cla250!
I wanna buy a car for my 17th bday and I’m between a 2018 accord sport and a 2018 CLA 250. Idk what to get🤦🏽♀️ I’m leaning more towards the accord because of reliability but idk. Thoughts?
Whoah, I didn’t have a car till I was 23! Lol. I would definitely push you towards the Honda Accord Sport (which also looks pretty cool). This CLA is cool but when things go wrong with it…THINGS GO WRONG. ANd the repair costs are enough to put you on the street lol. This car was probably the worst and most costliest mistake I’ve ever made when buying a car as you could probably tell from the video. Honestly, your 17.. you’ll have PLENTY of time to build up to an even nicer car. Unless you have the moneys to cover repairs on the cla, I’d go with the accord sport - black or blue.
Going off tires, alone. Yes, I would say so. I can't tell you how many times I've missed work because of issues with this car. Honestly, this was my experience and some people have told me that they haven't had these same issues I highlighted in this video. But if I could go back in time..I would have chosen a Honda Accord over this car. I would've saved money on price, and on the astronomical costs that came with repairing the CLA 250 along the way. I no longer have this car!
@@cmenjivar813 hey buddy you're right. I went to test drive the CLA today, and my Accord is much larger and roomier. Also, the sound and drive is noticeably different. I was really surprised by this. Also, I appreciate the honest review. It's much helpful, right now they value is as much as the Accords. I just couldn't believe how much smaller it was until I parked them side by side. I was explaining the tire issue to my family and they were like "no we don't wanna deal with that." So I appreciate this video!! Blessings to you!
@@AR1GAT0 whoah! Seriously why I do videos, to help people. Glad you took something away from it! And yes, one thing I didn't mention was the size of it. The way the car is shaped makes entering the back seats really uncomfortable, you gotta really really duck down because the door opening is so small and low, especially if you're taller.
@@cmenjivar813 Yes! I def watched the entire video and kept things in mind lol. The thing is, people were going off about this car and saying "it's a woman car" but not pointing out the practical point that it's not roomy and way smaller. I def get why it is the entry level vehicle and why some were upset about it. The outside of the car had a nice look and everything but when you get inside, you feel somewhat cramped. I was like not going to trade in my Accord for it. They also feel different hitting bumps lol. So yes, appreciate it, keep doing what you do!
Any issues with the engine mounts ? I had to replace 3 engine mounts after 50k miles. The vibration in the interior still pretty bad during the cold start, even with new engine mounts.
Personally, I would say no. It's not super high-end but I don't think it's meant to be a daily driver. Just the SEVERE tire problem alone is enough to make you miss work, stay in during a weekend or two, etc. Even with Continental tires! But I mean, if you live in a area with no potholes, you'll be fine...
@@joshSummers14 haven't had any. And I've had both the 2014 and 2018 models. I did have a problem with the engine overheating on the 2018 once, but it was a faulty waterpump. Not the engine itself. Hello I had a question. I am in highschool and I’m looking into this car. I drive 3 miles to school so I was wondering would this car last me long enough with no major problems
Hey, what's up @chill Tv. Yes, you should definitely be good (as long as it properly maintained, obviously). You start getting into issues when you're driving more than 50 miles a day to work and back. Of course the more you drive, the higher chances are of hitting a pothole, which is this car's Achilles heel. As you saw in my video, the wheels/tires are not the best. To make matters worse, there's no spare tire! So if you plan on driving a lot. I hope you have towing service built into your auto insurance policy, along with an electric pneumatic pump for the slow tire leaks that happen very often. Again though, if you're just driving 3 miles to school, you shouldn't have a problem. And damn, you pushing a benz while in high school?! Lol. I barely had bus fare to get to my high school sometimes. Good for you man.
@@dev3541 Nice, right now I'm at around 52,000 miles and I got it when it first came out in mid 2017. Pretty much no other problems I can think of right now other than the ones in the video.
It's a combination of a couple things. For me , it's unknowingly driving fast over potholes (at night). New England roads get really bad in the winter, which is when most of the damage occurs. This car just doesn't have the correct tires or rims for my area and for the way I drive.
You know, it's funny you say that. I had the same exact problem. You feel the shake in the steering wheel ESPECIALLY when braking to a stop..? Third, change the rims or becarefull where you drive! (I know some roads are fucked up), and buy a spare tire (but it doesnt come with spare tire, well, buy one you piece of shit!)
Fourth, i dont mind the cracking, remove the shit and put super glue, problem solved! (Ive done it, i mean if you are handy and dont call AAA when you are out of gas)
Fifth, wear seatbelt, that it!
@@cmenjivar813 I appreciate the advice!! I’ll definitely be going for the accord then bc I don’t wanna have to deal with all those issues rn lol.
@@cierrakayyy awesome, wise choice!
@@cierrakayyy im 17 and have this same car i hope you got it too
"by now im numb to it" *arm raddling* "but its probably because it is pinching a nerve"
Lol
The cracking part is so funny 😂
Glad you thought so!😊
So.. are you saying Honda Accords are definitely much more reliable and better than Mercedes CLA 250?
@@AR1GAT0 Again, thank you. Means a lot! I might have another car review coming soon :]
Any issues with the engine mounts ? I had to replace 3 engine mounts after 50k miles. The vibration in the interior still pretty bad during the cold start, even with new engine mounts.
Actually no, never had issues with engine mounts. the water pump did go bad on me though.
and, actually sometimes the car would vibrate when braking
OMG the creeking!
I know right! I actually don't have it anymore. I have the 2021 now which has no creaking🤗
Give me that cla then 😂 I absolutely love cla250
☺️
That would drive me crazy ty no purchase for me.
Youre not supposed to drive with your arms out the window. These complaints are quite lame.
Thanks, glad to help!
Is this car reliable
Personally, I would say no. It's not super high-end but I don't think it's meant to be a daily driver. Just the SEVERE tire problem alone is enough to make you miss work, stay in during a weekend or two, etc. Even with Continental tires! But I mean, if you live in a area with no potholes, you'll be fine...
Vro Teck what about engine problems
@@joshSummers14 haven't had any. And I've had both the 2014 and 2018 models. I did have a problem with the engine overheating on the 2018 once, but it was a faulty waterpump. Not the engine itself. As far as the engine being reliable, yes I'd say it is (as long as you use Premium gas only, and use the best motor oil possible).
Vro Teck ok Thankyou my parents are thinking about getting one of these and they know nothing about cars and I the car guy in the family but I can’t find any videos of engine problems and I was kinda worried since it a Mercedes so I figured I could contact somone who had one so Thankyou
@@joshSummers14 no worries. Glad to help! Let me know if you wanna know anything else on this car. I've had this car for over 3 years so I know it pretty well.
CLA ASMR
Not a bad idea huh! 🙃
Your app probably doesn’t work because you have an Android lol 😂
🤣 It was just a matter of time
😂😂
I was about to say the same thing haha
get smaller rims. Those massive rims on those tires will definitely result in cracked rims on any bumps.
I knowww. I have since replaced all my rims with enkei rims! So far so good.
@@cmenjivar813 any problems so far with the new rims ? I’m supposed to be getting my 2018 cla 250 next week
@@RavenLaShaee I actually don't have the 2018 cla 250 anymore. Way too many problems. When I did switch to the enkei rims, I didn't drive as much so I wouldn't be able to tell you if good or bad. What I can tell you was that I got ptsd from the amount of times I had to replace tires on this car lol. Every time I'd hit a bump on the road would make my heart skip a little.
@@RavenLaShaee but honestly, I've heard people have different experiences with the 18 cla 250. Maybe my situation is unique idk
@@cmenjivar813 honestly your review was the FIRST bad review I have heard, and ever since then I’ve been searching. My google history is like “bad experiences with tires and rims on cla250” and I’ve found a lot of similar problems, I have anxiety now🥲 I’ve already payed to have the car shipped here from another car lot lol I should’ve never went searching but thanks for the heads up and being real, atleast I know I have to drive
More carefully, I use to have a truck, so I’d sorta bulldoze over speed bumps and stuff never had any problems lol
Maybe it was a prior repair vehicle . Had a previous accident , cant trust carfax anymore , iforgot what official website you have to check but there is a site.
I was the first and only owner and I got the car at 37 miles, so brand new. Idk I guess I got one from a bad batch or something lol
To be honest brother 37 miles is not new . What i do think happened is , someone leased it 0 miles when it first cane out and got in a car accident ,then it got taken back to the dealership for repairs “reason for the door & dash being uneven and wiggly
Oh, idk. It could be anything.
Buying a cla is like buying a 320 bmw 😂😂😂 literally getting it for the badge
Bingo! Lol
Thx a lot bro! Decided not to buy it!!!!
Glad to help!
Cant you just press the door lock down?
It doesn't press down all the way. A good portion of the pin stays up after completely pressing it down in the LOCKED position.
@@cmenjivar813 it goes completely down on my brothers cla 🤷♂️
@@bnkh damn, I swear mine came from a bad batch lol
I really wanted to buy this car! I ended up getting a C300 which I love but let me tell you. The seatbelt chime on the C300 is a lot worse lol
@paloma salas I guess sometimes you just gotta pick your evil. Glad to say I sold the CLA 😊 and no longer have to worry about tires or not having the choice to risk my life by choosing to not wear my seat belt lol.
@@cmenjivar813 what did you end up getting? And I was gonna tell you get low profile tires instead! I loved the CLA size and the exterior! I have a C300 with royal blue exterior and saddle brown designo interior!! I just love how the cla is literally low maintenxe
@@paloma7377 I got the 2020 CLA 250, which looks even better and doesn't have same problems as the 2018. Have you seen it!? 😳. And actually the tires I have on the 18 were low profile which I think is why I had so many issues.
Royal blue? Me too! With white/ black interior. Yes, these cars are relatively low-maintenance BUT when something goes wrong($$$$), you sometimes wish it was a Hyundai lol.
@@cmenjivar813 I’ve seen it! And I had low profile tires on my 2009 C300 which were a nightmare especially in mass! I actually watched this video a few months ago and test drive it and I love it! I even checked for creaking and there wasn’t any but this was in the summer
I agree the worst experience ever with tires.. 2018CLA had to changed all 4 tires 1 actually ripped! NO THANK YOU😡😡
Right!? I got rid of it finally. What's crazy is that on the day I sold it, it got a slow leak on one of the front tires.. Aghhhh!😩 lol. Glad I don't have this pending worry in my life anymore
Made of plastic mineral water bottles?
you know, that can either be a good thing or a bad thing lol. Probably a not-so-good thing in a "luxury" brand.
Guys any tips? Im getting this 2018 CLA 250 with the AMG Package with 32 miles its about 29 grand flat, is it a good deal for this car? Its also not the 4Matic
I was looking forward to getting the same car also. In my opinion it’s just not worth the money.
Vro Teck ok thanks I will be looking at the 2014 or 15 model are they’re any problems you ran into also how many miles is your car
@@dev3541 Nice, right now I'm at around 52,000 miles and I got it when it first came out in mid 2017. Pretty much no other problems I can think of right now other than the ones in the video.
What causes the rims to do that
It's a combination of a couple things. For me , it's unknowingly driving fast over potholes (at night). New England roads get really bad in the winter, which is when most of the damage occurs. This car just doesn't have the correct tires or rims for my area and for the way I drive.
has anyone had problems with shaking ive changed tires twice and i cant seem to get rid of it
You know, it's funny you say that. I had the same exact problem. You feel the shake in the steering wheel ESPECIALLY when braking to a stop..? I honestly never looked into it but I'm starting to think that it was a manufacturor defect or something. So glad I don't have that car any more. It was literally the worst car I've ever owned. Still mad about how much money I've wasted to fix it!
Most likely it’s due to bad pads or warped rotors
Bro you have like 30 apps open 😂
It really just sounds like it’s made of cheap plastic 🤧
I know right! I guess it's one of the trade offs for having the "entry level" Mercedes.
bruh do you research, the cla is not made in Germany, it's made in Hungary
@@aidanlee2871 no only the new 2020 models will be made in hungary, models before 2020 and variants below the 250 such as 180 200 and 220 engines were made in france

I'm thinking about trading in my 08 civic si for one of these.
Make sure to test drive this car! And ask about the tires
I’m really wondering, did he called the police 😨🤔😂🤣🤣😂
Maybe/Maybe not lol

You can't get a CLA and complain about Mercedez. You get what you payed for. Also how are you gonna compare Mercedez with your toyota? Ridiculous.
All of my rims cracked, one by one.
Tires ruined and all. A total nightmare 😓
Dam, sorry to hear that! I feel your pain 😫. Hopefully this video stops this from happening to people. What did you run over? Some potholes?
Stupid car! Stupid design! My engine overheated at 15,ooo miles
