Your videos are the best. I'm looking at getting a caravan and watching all the videos had been really priceless. I think jayco should sponsor you. 😊

Hi Greg, your videos are really invaluable to us. Following the Leopards as well. We are putting in some of your recommendations to our Ford Ranger now. We will be full-time 2024, so prepping now. Have you put on towing mirrows yet as suggested below? Great videos. Love your sense of humour.

This is fantastic, we bought the exact same ute 6 months ago for exactly the same reason and my dream caravan is exactly what you have. I am so happy I stumbled across your channel. Our ute is even the same colour and also has the canopy for the same reason, I do have to take both wheels off our ebikes though because they are just a bit too long to fit in (I need to make a mounting slide out type of thing by the looks of it though but it's in the plans and won't be too difficult). I've seen the transmission cooler before and after heat test vid and expect I will have a cooler fitted and the same tech stuff when we do finally get a caravan. Thanks for all of your videos. Looks like a late night for me watching haha. Thanks again

One of the other bits I threw on were some San Hima extending tow mirrors. They are awesome looking and make towing that much easier I find.

Yea we have a 360 mirror arrangement which is OK but I think Mirrors would be a great Idea would you recommend the San Hima Mirrors ??

Really enjoying the videos, thank you. We added an extra leaf to our Triton rear springs (Ironman) rather than replacing them. It is difficult to find springs that up the rating/load carrying without also lifting the unladen ride height. The extra leaf did result in a bit of a lift unfortunately which required us to get a new tongue for towing domestic light trailers. But because the car still rides on the factory two “first stage” leafs (of 5 - now 6 leafs total) when unloaded, ride comfort was not affected and when hooked up to heavier trailers the ride height settles down to a level attitude. Also added a super pro rear sway bar and that made a big difference to stability too. Be aware than technically any suspension mods that alter ride height (other than spacer blocks on leaf packs up to 50mm) need to be certified as LVV. That added about $700 to the cost for us. Airbags will also need certification, we didn’t go down that path as the chassis isn’t designed or reinforced to take a point load directly above the axle like in a coil sprung vehicle, made me a bit wary to introduce a point of stress there. Often the more utilitarian models have different rear springs from factory with higher load ratings, that may be an option to swap in a factory part if it is the case in the Rangers/BT50s.

Yea I havent done much research but Reset springs or helper leaves are the way to go I think Thanks for your input Cheers Greg

Great informative video Greg. We'll done. Just a couple of things that I hope will help. Are you aware that you screen links never appear and volume varies quite a bit. However the video content is great, thank you mate. Hope to catch up on the road soon.

Learning a lot from your tech tips videos - thank you. Just got a Forscan Lite setup and working on our Ranger today. I'm wondering - roughly what is the cost to get a transmission cooler installed on a 2018 Ranger?

Not sure I will need to do some resharch before I go to the war office I thinl the kit is about $900 and there is quite a bit of labour

    Good vid guys.
Quick question about the Ranger/Silverline combination. Do you use or need a weight distribution hitch?
I'm picking up a second hand Silverline in a couple of weeks and the owner uses a WDH with his Landcruiser. The van's gross weight is 3,113. The guy's brother insists the WDH isn't required.
Seems like overkill for the Landcruiser but I'll use it if needed for the Ranger.
    Cheers Paul

      @KiwiWanderers  2 роки тому +1

Hi Paul we don’t use a WDH and I’m happy with the way our vehicle rides we are right up on max weight though I think it may depend on how much is in the ranger .. thanks for watching cheers Greg

Love the videos - just curious about the bike holder - you say you adapted a Subaru mount kit - don't suppose you have a link to teh specific unit you used - I'm looking to do the same to put our e-bikes in the back of my BT-50. Any details you can provide would be appreciated - thanks.

Hi Robert, we robbed the bike rack out of a 2010 Subaru outback we had… I thought it was a Subaru thing but I can’t find any link to it on the web. There are lots of mounts sold for mounting on roof racks which would do a simalar job. Sorry I couldn’t be more help

It's a strange way to have the Anderson plug wired up. Normally the Anderson plug is used for battery charging. I run my 3 way fridge through the 12 pin plug via a 30amp relay, which switches on when the ignition is on, because the fridge draws no more than 14amps so easily meets the load rating of the 30 contacts of the Plug. My Anderson plug is used for battery charging while driving. The Anderson plug It is directly connected to the battery which is in turn connented to a DC to DC charger which only charges the battery when the ignition is on. My DC to DC charger is a 20amp unit so can expect 25 to 30amp draw through the Anderson. Some people run bigger DC to DC chargers so larger current and reason for use of a Anderson plug for this purpose.

Yea Im hearing ya, But that is as per the Jayco Diagram. We use the WITI wireless towing module so we rely on solar to charge caravan batteries (we have 900w) and all seams to work well ....and I don't have dc to dc on the ute so im not sure how much the ute would send any way...Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Cheers Greg
