I don't think they are underrated , i think it's just that they never sold out to the main stream media, and that's a good thing. That is why their music is always so raw and original. Got mad respect for "The Stone Roses", these guy's are Buzzin.
I think that’s such a spot on comment. It’s why they were contractually kneecapped after their timeless debut album. Looking back at TV interviews with Ian and John, there was no way they were going to pretend that the music “business” was anything but a steaming pile.
Just watching another YT video where Ian Brown is quoted at distancing himself from this and Tell Me. The Conplete … was the first Roses record I owned. I immediately honed in on the first 2 tracks cos they just sounded so raw and unusual.
They didn’t like the Garage Flower album. Which was produced by Martin Hannett. I don’t know why, it’s bloody brilliant. Has all their really early stuff like ‘ Heart on the Staves ‘ etc.
I find myself listening to lots of U.K. bands these days... I believe it started with Joy Division, then i ended up finding My Bloody Valentine through them somehow and ended up here with Stone Roses. I'm from the states...
I love the mad Reni drumming on this! So powerful! Dare I say (controversial opinion) I'm not sure I like the sound of the drums Hannett got on this one. I feel like I want to turn them up and make them sound more echoy and big. It sounds to me like Reni is working really hard, but somehow Martin Hannett has turned him down and subdued him when he should've be allowed to ring out IMHO! I am usually a fan of Hannet's work and love Joy Division, but I'm a massive fan of Reni and his drumming, so I could be biased! Does anybody else get what I mean? The drums somehow sound subdued and distant to me. I love to know what Reni thinks!

They seem to have completely disregarded everything from before the debut apart from Sally Cinnamon. Shame, I'd love them to play this and Tell Me in their live sets.

It's great, just a little different to the Roses we all know. A lot more raw and aggressive than their classic sound.
Best Stone Roses song!
The way I adore this song. Absolutely fantastic.
Just watching another YT video where Ian Brown is quoted at distancing himself from this and Tell Me. The Conplete … was the first Roses record I owned. I immediately honed in on the first 2 tracks cos they just sounded so raw and unusual.
How much i miss this one.. sheer perfection..
Man Stone Roses Are Lengendary There Music Opened Up A Whole New Era
Underrated Roses banger
insane that in 1985 80s pop was the thing and yet Stone roses existed :o. Guess the music industry catches up years later.
Try again. Its the roses who were playing catch up in the mid eighties. They had a 8 year out of date punk sound. Great song nonetheless.
Can't argue with that. Impeccable logic.
They were post punk/goth sounding around this era in my opinion. Sounds like early Joy division (Warsaw)
probs my fave stone roses song ngl
This really takes me back to a happier time.
Not on Spotify.... Class you can tell this was influenced by punk 🤘
