Legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar ji is a glorious name that is synonymous not just with the Sitar, but with Indian music, aesthetics, genius, innovation, depth, grace, beauty and so much more. The spread of Indian music far and wide across the globe, at a time much before the internet age, is in no small part attributable to this colossus.
His phenomenal ability to seamlessly fuse with other systems of music, retaining the core essence of our own art form, provided a global window to our music. He has mesmerised and won the hearts of fans, artists and connoisseurs spanning generations and genres.
Our Guru Lalgudi G Jayaraman and Pandit ji shared mutual respect and admiration for each other. We also remember with fondness and humility the several occasions when the maestro graced our violin duet concerts with his presence and blessings.
On Pandit ji’s 101st birthday, we feel honoured to pay our tribute to this great legend by presenting a mellifluous and heart-warming ‘Tarana’ composed by him. Vedanth Bharadwaj & Praveen Narayan have lent their support brilliantly on the Banjo and the Tabla. Our humble Pranams to Pandit ji.

It is a perfect tribute to the great Sitar legend by Lalgudi Sri.Krishnan and Smt.Vijayalakshmi. If both Sri.Ravi Shankarji and the Lalgudiji were alive today to hear this tribute, both might have had been mightily been pleased.
