Hi Gabriel, traveling in the sacred monkey forest was incredible. The monkeys are so revered in Bali in song and dance. Bali's reasonable food and accommodations make it a major travel destination along with balmy weather and beautiful beaches it has many beautiful attractions. I know you're eating all that food and with all that walking and activity you've built up a big appetite.
Good food, warm weather, beautiful accommodation , cheap massages… seems like my kind of place. I appreciate you sharing the prices and affordability factor. Travel has become so insanely expensive that affordability is now #1 on my list. I never even looked into Bali thinking it would be unaffordable. I am pleasantly surprised to learn it’s not the exorbitantly expensive destination I thought it was. Thanks again Gabriel for taking us along 😊😊
Excellent video. My first trip to Bali was way back in 1993. Did a Circle the Pacific fare, $999.00 for SFO to Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Hawaii, SFO. Trip of a life time, first time to Asia. Couldn't believe how cheap Bali was & still very nice. Stayed in Kuta for a few days, $5.00 a nite, included breakfast brought to your room. Ubud was my favorite, simply magical! Rode over to Singaraja to swim with the dolphins, never happened, but the ride over was amazing. I had no idea what the true color green was until I was in the mountains of Bali. Never saw green like that again. Yes, you are right about a real Thai Massage, they come close to hurting. These are tourist prices in tourist places. Fine for a 2 week holiday, but you would need to seek out cheaper places if you were staying or travelling for a longer period of time. I will break this up into a few parts for more easily digestible commentary content. ________________________________________________________________________________ Bali can be as expensive or inexpensive as one wants it to be, I should think. Bali is both a city and a county. The whole AREA of Bali, is HUGE, though, larger than any other city of town on that island, yes? 😄 Good for you, kicking off this video with FOOD! We Foodies love to see what other people eat. 😄 Big Question: >>> How to you find your hotels and accommodations so nicely? HOW DO YOU LUCK OUT SO OFTEN, in terms of prices, where you stay?
I wonder if the recent ban on unmarried couples staying together in Bali is reducing tourism too? They’re trying to clear up the extramerital sex ban rule to not deter tourism, but maybe it’s not enough since the law still stands?
That law doesn't come into effect for another three years. It's being said that it will not apply to tourists as family members are the ones who need to 'report' the pre-marital sexual activity. Others are saying that it's a political stunt and largely won't be enforced as people will just be more discreet. Time will tell! Bali was devastated by the lack of tourism during the pandemic and is really only just bouncing back. Australia is one of their major sources of tourism and had closed borders for ages. Like many other places, Australia is experiencing a much higher cost of living and continually rising interest rates at the moment, and many people are being very cautious financially due to lost income during the pandemic, increasing mortgage repayments and Christmas etc. Many people and families simply can't afford to go on holiday - even to a relatively cheap destination like Bali. Tourism will pick up though. I hope so for the sake of the Balinese.
While this place definitely looks more interesting than Kuta, it still feels very "tourist trappy". And while a big breakfast like that for $15 isnt very expensive, it isnt really cheap as well so you seem to pay western prices. I doubt any locals will ever eat at a place like that. The whole thing just feels like a sort of theme park version of the real Indonesia. Even that monkey forest seems more like a zoo rather than an actual forest. Not necessarily a bad thing if thats what you are looking for, but ill think ill give it a pass.
That’s because Bali is really for tourists..this video is shot before the Russians that arrived in January 2023…Australians and Russians are the largest tourist nationalities in Bali now..
The monkey forest looked very interesting for a walk around and Ubud generally looked better than Kuta. That heavy "croissant" looked dodgy. The "four hand" massage for 190,000 Rupiah that was advertised on the price list at 19:52 would be crazy.
Gabriel does the world cup football madness reached Indonesia? And i have to say ubud seems as a such a hidden gem destination as people staying near beaches all the time
More about this wonderful video: 13:10 -- That 3 egg omelet is a master work of cookery, Gabriel! That salsa looks every bit as good as does the egg concoction. The eggs looked fluffy and as though a real chef made the omelette. Croissant, we say like this: "kwa son". Never (EVER!) is it said like this: kru-san, ever! Pronouncing the name of the buttery baked good this way only makes anyone look like a HICK, sorry. There is no "u" is the word, croissant. Many Americans make this same mistake as you did, so rest assured, that I tell them too, how to say this French word correctly.
What makes your videos a breath of fresh air, is that you are not aiming for bare bones travel- realistic numbers, not always eating at street food vendors- I like that your are generous and humble- after travelling to 120 countries, it is nice to treat yourself while on the road-all the best

@@abctoxyzfun2557 I think it discourages couples who are not married yet from traveling together to Bali
After he traveled from Singapore prices ( and japan before hand) i think it's a great relief..
@@19bendunk Singapore you actually can eat really cheaply and very well in a hawker centre.
The "four hand" massage for 190,000 Rupiah that was advertised on the price list at 19:52 would be crazy.
i was wondering what is four hand...??

Check out North Sulawesi where most Christians in Indonesia live
Truly does look like a paradise. Think you might get a few less views than usual as you've published this just as the World Cup Final is starting 😆
Watching this right after the final 😂😂😂
Good thing I dont like soccer
Gabriel does the world cup football madness reached Indonesia? And i have to say ubud seems as a such a hidden gem destination as people staying near beaches all the time
Hidden gem?😂 people flock in the thousands in and around Ubud, all budget travelers searching cheap and boasting about how spiritual they are.
Ubud used to be small and quiet. But it’s now expensive & nowhere near as quiet anymore.
More about this wonderful video:
13:10 -- That 3 egg omelet is a master work of cookery, Gabriel!
Nobody cares actually
@@mateor7302 You do not. Others might.
Man, where you bought that shirt, it is fucking cool
Thanks, I got it in India.
What is your Favorite class in diablo 2?
I forget, I haven't played it since around 2005. But I still have the discs for the game and my old iMac in my storage space in Portland.
If a monkey bites you, that will be the end of your trip!
Diablo 4 out in June. You playin?
Awesome. I probably won't, no time for computer games these days but perhaps at some point in the future.
