I went through a very difficult and heartbreaking divorce in 2009. Years later my business partner said that he heard me hum this song several times a day during that year. I had been married to her for 32 years when we split. But then he continued that a couple of years later when I met my new wife he said I was always humming "You are my special angel." Country music seemed to express feelings at different times of my life, good or bad. I had thirty two years of what I called "difficult duty.' But I thank the Good Lord it was followed by 15 years of joy and happiness. I married a very nice widow with two great teenage boys and my life has been a lot better ever since.
"Listen up folks!.....This is the real country music. Sadly, not what they call country music today!" (Dave-Kansas 2023)
Amen to that
Gone but cherished.
In 1991, I was invited to speak at a church conference in Nashville, not a big C&W fan, the nice couple I was staying with wanted to know if I wanted to go to the Grand Ole Orpy...I said, "sure..." I was shocked to have my host to get up during of the show and perform this great song. Yes, I was staying with Mr. Jack Greene and his wife Barbara. What a humble, gracious gentlemen....
this is real country music. not the music of today. I wish this country was here today.
Now that is a CLASSIC. Well done Jack
No one can sing this better than Jack. So talented and love it. 😢❤️

Jesus I have a deadly ailment that only you can heal please come and take me by the hand ! ❤
NO ONE CAN SING LIKE JACK GREENE, AND I NEVER GET TIRED OF HEARING HI VOICE! BUT THAT STEEL & VIOLIN PLAYER WERE NOT SO GOOD, HE NEEDED "JOHN HUGHEY" ON STEEL!
Rob Anderson is a fantastic steel player and is as good as Jimmy Day and Buddy Emmons and many others. I think they did a fantastic job. Well played!
Their exists a very good version by Englebert Humperdinck.
Humperdinck's version is my favourite.
Jack's style is more of the western country style. Still very pleasant to listen...
Elvis's version is better
Yes but it’s jacks song
Englebert Humperdink has a good version of this song.
