  • Our second stop on our latest New England brings us back to an estate we visited a month ago. On top of some great Early Ford parts, this estate has a Walker Lift just the one Matt got in Detroit. The plan is to save the lift, as many Early Ford parts as we can fit in the trailer, and an amazing vintage engine lift buried deep in the woods. Let's get to work!!!

Tough part of passing on is leaving a life's worth of collecting behind, all the stories and memories

Yep, a library closes forever & a museum gets scattered & junked. I'm sharing my years of hot rodding & racing knowledge with as many as I can since I have a lot more miles behind me than there are to come.

That is why it is so important to see the next generation save it rather than see it go to scrap.

Salute to this family and others that take the time to find people like Matt and his crew to come in and save this stuff. I'm sure there are just as many horror stories about things that have been scrapped over the years because the heirs did'nt have the time or the desire to go through it and sell it.

I grew up in the late 60’s & 70’s an old timer friend of my dads had an engine lift like that and refused to buy the type that we have now.sadly when he died his daughter had everything except hand tools scrapped.

The two old cars either side of the lift looked like the most interesting things there. Mike needs a bonus for what he (literally) went through to get that gearbox.

The Engine hoist looks to be the same as the English Stauffer crane of the early 1940's. ,either one was possibly made under license .The Stauffer cranes adverts said "so easy , a girl can use it"... 😁😁

At 71 years old I love seeing your generation saving these old pieces of equipment from scrap. That lift or motor hoist could end up in a museum in a generation or so when repairing a car could be a thing of the past.

Morning Matt & Crew!! I can feel the excitement as y'all go on these adventures! Where I grew up in Michigan there was a huge number of Farms, these Farms always had junk piles or on the fence row, I'm 65 & still have some of the stuff I drug home, seem's like Mike is becoming well versed on the old Ford parts!.. y'all be safe!

Brought back so many memories when he drug out that manifold with three Stromberg 97's. I had one pretty much like that on a 52 Ford Flathead back in the day. That setup was a least one carb too many for the motor, but it looked cool as hell. Looking at those fuel blocks reminded me that they would never quit seeping gas because there wasn't enough material to get a good seal. That was back when you could still prowl around wrecking yards and find Stromberg 48's and 97's on cars. Must have been the good ole days?

Those massive short reach cranes (shop cranes) were commonly used in factories and machine shops, for installing lathe chucks, moving heavy parts on and off machines, etc. Reach is too short for much engine work. The steering rear wheelset is missing, might still be buried where you found the crane.

I have to suggest safety shoes for you guys. It is so easy to put a nail through your foot in junk piles like that! You could do a.quick shoring up of saggy roofs, too. There was plenty of lumber in that shed.
One fall through a roof can put you out of commission; maybe forever! Only you can decide if it is worth it!
