Man, what a great old bone yard. That Huey definitely looked doable as did some of those twin Beach craft's. I wish I could find a yard like that here in Florida , but we have too much salt in the air. Thanks for your contribution to bringing Doc back to life. It'll be good to see a "flight "of B29's in the air. And to think they used them for target practice. Thanks for posting.
It may look like a pile of junk, but I saw lots of rare aviation treasures there! I especially liked the Pembroke at the beginning of the video; that airplane was surprisingly complete. Nice video!
I can't wait to see Doc being reunited with his long time combat friend FiFi...both take flight over our sky. Glorious planes, "God please help these people bring this beautiful bird to life." amen!
Doc has flown! July 2016 She will no doubt meet up w/ FiFi in 2017. FiFi's crew has been helping Doc's crew get her flying so a formation flight is surely going to happen.
Boy those old planes were hard to fly. If you look up training films WWII pilots on UA-cam there are a bunch of training films & it shows how EVERYTHING had to be set & adjusted manually. Imagine being in a dogfight & having to adjust your fuel air mixture with every significant altitude change. Anyways, those training films are gold.
Very interesting.@ minute 2:21 I think that's the nose of a DC 3. I grew up during the 60's in Puerto Rico, and i think it belonged to TRANS CARRIBEAN AIRWAYS. God knows how many people would love to see that piece of fuselage in a museum. It goes to show you , YOU'RE NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO FIND WATCHING VIDEOS POSTED ON YOU TUBE. THANKS Yahuda 101
Does anyone know where I can find any parts relating to the tail gun assembly or tail gunner's cabin for sale? Barring that, really any piece of a superfortress would be great. I don't care about condition, I'm just looking for some kind of memento but I'm not coming up with much. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to procure parts to restore a whole bird.
There is a warehouse full of aircraft instruments that are in good conditions. The ones on the shelf out doors are instruments that are not used in civilian aircraft. Then there is another thing, I worked on radar at the China Lake Naval Air Warfare Center. We have pulled electronics that was buried in the sand in radar boneyards, cleaned them up and installed them in the radar and they worked. The desert is the best place to store electronic components. That's why the Air Force boneyard is at Moffett Federal Airfield .
Yahuda101 Understood, but I'm still glad to hear they keep the good stuff inside. Moffett airfield? We've got one of those here in the SF bay area. Didn't know that there was more than one.
15:53 is not wwI biplane parts. Those are the nose sections of what appears to be Fairchild "Gunner" bomber trainers made during ww2. They were constructed of mostly of wood and had aircooled Ranger V-12 engines. Would be neat if you located those.
the 3 cockpit bulkheads made from aluminium what plane in ww1 had that sort of construction id like to know , tubular spaceframe and sheet metal most were wood and fabric .
+MR CROW LOL If you look at the center of the picture at 3 minutes and 41 seconds into the video you will see 3, count them 3 wooden fuselage section of the bulkhead and open cockpit. Open your eyes and take a look! WOODEN!!!! NOT ALUMINIUM, NOT TUBULAR, AND SHEET METAL, WOOD, WOOD, WOOD!!!!! Damn idiots in this world!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok my mistake your camera aint good so thought it was tubular metal as for an idiot your the one whos suposed to know his planes still never mind hope you got what you were looking for
MR CROW Doc should be up in flying within a couple of years. About the only thing I did is help get Doc off the bombing range at China Lake, and found a bone yard where the guys who knows planes can get parts. I know next to nothing about planes. I'm an Radar and Instrumentation Engineer.
can somebody tell me if the fuselage of the DC 3 on Minute 2:21 and min.12:13 is still there?? ..THAT USE TO BE TRANS CARRIBEAN AIRWAYS, The goverment of Puerto Rico use to OWN this AIRLINE. every plane had a name ala PAN AM. THE NAME "BORINQUEN" WAS THE NAME THE TAINO INDIANS CALL THE ISLAND WHEN COLUMBUS DISCOVERED IT. THEREFOR "BORINQUEN BELLE" MEANS; BORINQUEN THE BEATIFULL" TODAY IS OCTOBER 21,2014. PLEASE TELL ME IS STILL THERE. I'LL FLY 2MOROW AND BUY IT. THANKS AGAIN YAHUDA101

I bet the owners of the yard are some grouchy old guys that keep saying "its not for sale" on everything you ask how much on , or the good one " I'm going to fix it up its not for sale" or if they do decided to give you a price its cheaper to buy brand new thats been certified and airworthy....
+Rusty Lupton Talk about a grouchy fucking old fart! Who the fuck twisted your arm to watch this video? You stupid ass fucking old fart! But you are a funny fucking old fart! Thanks for the laugh. LMAO
+Yahuda101 Talk to me again when you can string a sentence together without every other word being an expletive. By the way it's probably past your bedtime.Mommy's calling you. lol
+Rusty Lupton Screw off, do you know what they did? They restored a b29 to flying condition and it is about to be the second B29 still flying you idiot.... Have you ever accomplished something this big? I already know the answer, it is NO!
+fw1421 Scrap metal to some, and gold to others. The Bone yard makes most of their money providing props for movie companies. Check it out.aviationwarehouse.net/
That old C-130 front section would make an awesome studio apartment
Doc is now at the Kansas Aviation museum in Wichita, They have restarted the restoration work under a new group called "Doc's Friends"

Just love old junkyards. Airplane junkyards are extra cool.
Looks like a Hunting Percival Pembroke at 1.00. Odd place to end up for such a plane!
Excellent Job guys....I can hardly wait to see 'er in the flesh.

I would love to get that DC3 I saw! wonder how much an incomplete DC3 sells for? or a Boeing 707/727 cockpit/nose?
Cool stuff
VERY INTERESTING!!!
A walk through history.....
There are some real gems hiding there. At 8:21 there appears to be a R-4360 radial engine standing upright in the background.

What better place to store rare, precision aircraft instruments than stacked in piles on outdoor shelves?

Great video! I live in AZ so a trip out there might be in the works. How was the pricing on the scraped items?
Depends on what you're looking for and how much you're buying. We bought a lot of electronics, prices were good.

How much for the Huey?
How is Doc doing? Realistically, will she ever fly?
T-Bone at 3:31!

im no expert but like i said your cam not the best and to me it looked like metal framework with sheet overskin
The only thing better than an airplane junk yard is a car junk yard full of cars from the fifties. Good trip through the airplanes Yahuda. Pete
not rotary, RADIAL
You're right, I stand corrected.
When I win the lottery, you will hear from me. Sorry that I can't help.
Best of luck!
"How is Doc doing? Realistically, will she ever fly?" That's a comment from below from 3 years ago and the answer is Yes! Soon!

Yeah, I heard back in May, it is awesome, I really am excited for this! Then FIFI will have someone to fly in formation with!
GamePlayWithNolan Yes she will. Hope to see it.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. YOU MADE A LOT OF PEOPLE VERY HAPPY. THANKS AGAIN....

+carpaithia No, they were some pretty decent guys who would sell what ever you want.
So.a 15 min vid.of which about 13 mins is spent walking around the scrapyard looking at other wrecks..NOT impressed
+Rusty Lupton Talk about a grouchy fucking old fart! Who the fuck twisted your arm to watch this video? You stupid ass fucking old fart! But you are a funny fucking old fart! Thanks for the laugh. LMAO

Rusty Lupton LOL I wish! This old Vietnam vet is tired.
+Rusty Lupton Screw off, do you know what they did? They restored a b29 to flying condition and it is about to be the second B29 still flying you idiot.... Have you ever accomplished something this big? I already know the answer, it is NO!
+Rusty Lupton, I bet you feel like an idiot, they got her flying again and doc just flew 2 days ago. HA, still not impressed?
WHAT the F*ck does this have to do with parts for an old B-29??? You'd be better off at an aviation museum. I don't see any B-29s here!
Instruments, radios, and so on! Doc is now flying.
Museums want's to keep their stuff.
Well, I understand that many of Doc's parts were newly made or reconditioned original B-29 gear?
The donor would still own their bird, however, instead of just being static junk, it would be an active, flying bird! NO LOSS...
Mostly worthless scrap metal. I wonder how much they make in a year?
