yeah lmao that isn't really hard to write, he's just hitting the low e and striking some power-chords. that progression has been used before metallica anyways.
Yep it's quite heavy on the bass and quite treble-y but it's inherently scooped as well but I think the magic is that Kirk's guitar has less gain and more mid-y which complements well with James. That's just my thinking of it about what's going on to make it sound scooped but still has that nice brightness and crunchiness.
They've got a power and a force that you've never seen before They've got the ability to morph and to even up the score No one will ever take them down The power lies on their side
Theirs 2nd album. They have 21 & 22 years old and they have recording a album with 5 classics songs always playing live today on 8. This is a intemporels songs...
I love this !! Of numerous Metallica solos I’ve learnt to date, I found this challenging and it ended up being one of the last ...of course the middle part is easy but the start is hard .. also for those who don’t know., every solo on this record is doubled ..
Why indeed. How about, because you can talk about flaws in something you like without letting it diminish your thoughts on it? Think about it. Sure you notice imperfections in stuff you like too, do you ever point it out to others? Whether you do or don't, you at least have the right to, make use of it or don't.
Completely and utterly disagree. Like I said, it's okay to talk in a critical manner about something you like. That's your right to disagree with somebody.
play this and sing at the same time, it should be banned by law, its just too hard, many people had breakdowns they couldnt handle it and jumped from a cliff into the fire
@@centaurus5676 You know what is funny? I prefer when there are all the little mistakes and some sloppy playing here and there compared to nowadays "everything must be perfect" sterile guitar solos that could be as well played by a computer. I know, one might say it is an excuse for being sloppy but I really miss human element when solos are perfectly clean at least in this genre. The energy he puts into the guitar solo is amazing. You can barely hear anyone playing with such attitude.
@@kkarx I have to agree there, RTL is an amazing album and would have been ruined with a whizz kid lead player. I can't stand all those note for note Asian you tube channels. They copy everyone and have nothing original themselves and are so boring to listen to.
The crunchiest thrash album of all time. This sound is nothing short of rare gold.
I love this tone
Bonded by Blood is the thrashiest and crunchiest.
It has a darker and colder sound vs Master of Puppets. Not better, but different.
Kirk's slopiness actully gives the record great attitude. Incredible energy.
The solo doesn't seem sloppy to me
@@Drewitall54 It isn't. It's also one of his best solos.
@@kartikchandrasekhar2762 I agree
I don't think it's sloppy. It's just the reverb and amount of distortion on the guitars. They're probably tracked several times too
@@Drewitall54 Just parroting the usual regurgitated nosense
Heavy guitars.. classic album!
That riff after the solo, Kirk said he wrote it when he was 16. Hot damn.
power chords and open e? Had I started playing earlier I could have "composed" that at age 9
And he used in a demo song when he was in exodus
yeah lmao that isn't really hard to write, he's just hitting the low e and striking some power-chords. that progression has been used before metallica anyways.
He also wrote the intro riff, not james
@@mycustomyoutubechannel2539 sure, but you didn't
Kirk is a unique guitarist.
This is how you make a scooped guitar sound cut through the mix ladies and gents...
So... it is scooped??? Some people said it was, others said it wasn't

@@loganpriest6029 Kirk is only playing the solo. All the rhythm sections are Hetfield only.
@@JackDavis16 yes but on MoP james layered the guitars using kirks guitar too, so it's in the mix. But no idea if he did this for RTL.
@@thecoconutfromthetf2files High mids are scooped, low mids are bumped. So much low end
3:47 the heaviest part of Metallica's guitar tones
And that riff was written by Kirk when he was 16
LP D'A yeah for the un-done song "Die By His Hand" when he was Exodus
It’s my favorite riff in all of thrash metal 👍

this is the reason RTL has the most heaviest guitar tones for Metallica themselves
3:42 YES!
it has a similar crunch to AJFA
But heavier.
It’s the Marshall sag

Not bad for passive pickups🎸🤘
I think James started with the active EMGs in ‘87ish. Although Kirk had a few guitars with EMGs back since Puppets tour.
PERFECT
WOW 🎵🎶🤘
Solos kinda sounded sloppy, i don't know if it's cause it has less gain but this album probably shows one of kirks sloppiness solos.

That doesn't change the fact that it sounds sloppy.

Great if you want to learn the song.
This song has more crunch than all maiden songs put together

Guys, sloppy or not. Remember how old they were when they wrote and recorded this stuff and rethink ;)
I don’t know why this seems to me but the solo on here sounds kind of sloppy to me. On the actual song it sounds way better.
Why the fucking hell can't they sound close to this nowadays??!
This is my favorite Metallica song.
With the isolated guitar tracks to their song I go all any understand how and why they sped up their songs

Something sounds slightly "off" in the upper mids. Were they using greenbacks instead of vintage 30s back then or something?

im pretty sure almost everything (including this intro) by metallica is downpicked.
Sm1udntknw so to you baterry es down picket?
Almost. Learn to read.
You are a pussy if you can't downpick this intro
Yeah there are live vids from the time where Het is alternate picking the intro
I always hated how the triplets at the end of the solo sound like the guitar doesn't have enough sustaine. Probably because of Kirk's poor skills.
He has skills though.
He's Rolling Stone's 11th greatest guitarist of all time. I think you're nitpicking.
His lead tone on this album wasn’t as much gain as the other albums. Not as much sustain. Kirk hater lmao
