I agree with what you said about kids needing a village to raise them. I'd rather use the word community, because it describes more their need to be socialized. I talk to a lot of kids, and it seems like their socialization is based around the media. You can see this in their vocabulary when you interact with them. An example of this the chat terminology, or internet lingo they like to use outside of an online setting. This isn't a reason not to want kids, but it is extremely discouraging.
I can understand your perspective here. Being pregnant was the worst year of my life. The only comfort I felt was knowing that it was a "temporary condition" and not a permanent one.
Not saying I advocate this train of thought but the reasons why most people shun pregnant women are because they are aware that the woman made a conscious decision to become impregnated, and thus any discomfort they experience is their own fault and they need to live with that. While I do agree that is IS their own doing that they go through the pains of pregnancy, it's also a mandatory part of life and the species, so basically telling a woman,"fuck off, you brought this on yourself" is vile...
......Procreation is arguably our only reason for existing, so condemning a pregnant woman is like condemning a lion or tiger for eating a human who falls into their cage. Society frowns upon it, but some women need to give birth, just like some big cats need to eat live meat. Pregnancy isn't like smoking or doing serious drugs in that it's a self destructive habit that you should really never do(unless you have like 30 kids), it's doing what female members of nearly every species naturally do.

I agree with the cater to me thing. I don't care if it sounds selfish lol, I wont have a kid of my own unless the guy I am with pampers me :P lol
But luckily, enough people are having children, so the people who don't want children shouldn't feel obligated to have any.
