Martin az orosz rossz fiú read readme.txt or downloads description. It’s a mappack, not a mod. Maps won’t change, you will have to load them with console.
1999 was morely a year for concept making, but they did make a little bit before the end of 1999, but these maps are completely lost to time and most of the hl2 199 era itself is lost only having some assets left, 2000's has spme maps found but majority of 2000 era is lost to time
i unironically think this is better than the product we have now. I would actually like some person that would make the full 1999-2001 original storyline be playable with no map changing and working transitions with the Same models as the 2001 Era, same Half life 2 beta Graphics etc. If that's possible that would be epic
Y'know, with all the missing models, textures, scripts, I wonder if the game was either Amazing or shit before they were deleted. Some maps could have been amazing- well, decent. We can only wonder the original state of the maps.
Genuine opinion: If someone were to remaster all of these maps, fix any issues, and add level transistions + some custom areas so they work together, imo it could be a way better beta mod than Raising the Bar Redux (this is personal bias because i dont like rtb:r that much) Either way, both retail HL2 and the beta are amazing for their respective reasons
and before you ask no, im probably not gonna make it because that is an incredibly ambitious idea and you'd probably need a team the size of valve to make it work (also i am not sending hate to the RTB:R dev team, they put a lot of effort into that mod and i respect it all the way)
Did you modify the combined soldiers to have the original grunt sounds for this video? If I download the 2001 map pack will my soldiers do the same or is this just a special edit? Also, how do you guys swap between the different combine solider versions?
Uhh, can you tell me how to download Half Life Beta, and then this map pack? when i extract the HL2 Beta 2003, i try to start a new game, but it dosent work, i need to use the console or something?
topsecret396 if you mean that you want to port hl2 beta maps into retail - of course it is possible. This engine is from 2003 just one year younger than retail hl2 engine. You will only need to fix some obsolete entities and models if the maps are from 2001-2002

@@punshhh911 а также не вырезать крематоров, они действительно не обычные
Where was the “vert_” maps meant to be used in the story?
They were the skyscraper/vertigo chapter.
this game looks so cool i wonder how the final version would look like
ikr! Did you see the techdemo that they did this year?
Combine voice is hecu?
If only valve would release this game, as another timeline of half life. Anything's possible with the Gman.
H A L F - L I F E 2: R E M N A N T S
Or idk which title could it have..
Either having a side story (a bit like Rogue One), or (I'm asking for a miracle here) make HL3 / HL2EP3 where it has to do with another city that includes all the stuff that was scraped from the beta.
(About the side story... maybe Adrian Sheperd could be the protagonist?)
OR... make a complete new game like Face of Mankind with this HL2 beta atmosphere.
EXCELLENT
I'm confused by the thumbnail, was beta Alyx always caucasian (white)? Because i see two Alyx, the one that is african/asian with red hair, and the one that is caucasian american with red hair,
Alyx keeps me in her pocket
go away
Bolloxed 😄
hey how about you make your own mod and stop posting gore to r/halflife
@@azok3070hey azok
Bolloxed should make his own mod, we could only hope
Old metro cop skins = 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
The old skin give them more Nazi style tbh
nothing personal kid and I love it
@@yourewallsareveryconvenien8292 I mean the combine are pretty much like the nazis
The HL2 Beta Is Just 1984 : The Game
You can tell it was made in the hl1 engine
It was not. Although Source engine looked more similar to Goldsource back then.
That’s what I mean, because then source was basically just a slightly more advanced gold source
I call it Goldsrc 2
Лично я играя на первой карте столкнулся с тем что помимо некоторых текстур у меня не было Sky box'а.
Lightmap resolution on some maps is really poor.
Вяленая скрибятина I mean this is a series of old maps loaded on the 2003 build of source
Idk man, I really like the 2001 atmosphere more. Felt more futuristic in my opinion.
Idk if its only not working for me, but at 4:35 it doesnt fade out for me and nothing happens. Any fix? (And also console say a map missing there. Pls help me)
Martin az orosz rossz fiú read readme.txt or downloads description. It’s a mappack, not a mod. Maps won’t change, you will have to load them with console.
@@hl2-beta oh okay.
20:38 - this level looks similar to original Half-Life 1
Good effort
Could you roughly explain what the maps where like for 2001, 2002 and 2003? (And if you can 1999 and 2000's maps if they're available.)
I think there's not a 1999 map... yet
Same man, same. And it would be possible but would you want the maps be made playable and have working transitions on regular Source or Beta Source?
main reason they changed it is to put shortly: the idea was too hard to maintain and qas expwcted to take extremely longer then what they wanted
It feels as if you're not supposed to be here.
27:52 Gee, what's up Doc?
Y'know, with all the missing models, textures, scripts, I wonder if the game was either Amazing or shit before they were deleted. Some maps could have been amazing- well, decent. We can only wonder the original state of the maps.
Genuine opinion: If someone were to remaster all of these maps, fix any issues, and add level transistions + some custom areas so they work together, imo it could be a way better beta mod than Raising the Bar Redux (this is personal bias because i dont like rtb:r that much) Either way, both retail HL2 and the beta are amazing for their respective reasons
and before you ask no, im probably not gonna make it because that is an incredibly ambitious idea and you'd probably need a team the size of valve to make it work (also i am not sending hate to the RTB:R dev team, they put a lot of effort into that mod and i respect it all the way)
I think the rock_caves map serves as the perfect intro for the wasteland chapter
Is it possible to add content to these maps
Like, adding props and such
Also, how big are the beta engine's limits?
Is there any attack animations for Alyx Vance in the half life 2 beta
Real walk through is how to get the damn game started
Did you modify the combined soldiers to have the original grunt sounds for this video? If I download the 2001 map pack will my soldiers do the same or is this just a special edit? Also, how do you guys swap between the different combine solider versions?
Chris Thresh yes, if you download it soldiers will have hl1 grunt sounds. It’s made as a mod and does not overwrite original beta files, you will see
Oh so basically only the 2001 era maps use the grunt sounds?
Chris Thresh yes, they used them as placeholders
HL2 Project Beta Will the weapon models and animation get overwritten by the “mod”?
TheAlanDude no original files get overwritten since the mod has it’s own folder.
Uhh, can you tell me how to download Half Life Beta, and then this map pack? when i extract the HL2 Beta 2003, i try to start a new game, but it dosent work, i need to use the console or something?
Caio Vai Pa Disney download Mega Build from our site and read the download’s description, and a thread
@@hl2-beta Thx brotha!
I feel like the engine should be called “goldsource” because this isn’t goldsrc it’s a cross in between source 1 and goldsrc
It’s source, 2003 engine was far enough along to be classified as such.
@@TheExperienceYT no, this was a 2001 build
What's the outro music? It reminds me of Skyrim.
oh my god the used the air exchange puzzle in episode 1
What if i'm try to copy the geometry ( blocks) of the Worldcraft's map( HL2 beta) and paste on HL2's Hammer??
It is possible?
topsecret396 if you mean that you want to port hl2 beta maps into retail - of course it is possible. This engine is from 2003 just one year younger than retail hl2 engine. You will only need to fix some obsolete entities and models if the maps are from 2001-2002
I can't understand, were they remaking the game 3 times?
Skape they were constantly adding and removing stuff
Which version of the storyline started with demo_arctic?
The 1999 one I believe
Наконец-то, я увидел OICV с старой текстурой
im almost crying

If this was the real story of the game, I would get goosebumps everytime I play it.
And that's what I like about this.
A lot of the maps like c17_02 and c17_04 are missing from the map pack. Is there anywhere I can download them from?
C17_02 is a lost mal

Yeah idk why they aren't there
The beta is basically a whole new game
I want to know how can i play through this in order?
