    Just so everyone knows, the sticker that says “ELD Keeptruckin” is NOT required. There is NO requirement for the “driver using electronic logs” on your truck. I would advise not to have any of those on any truck. It’s just advertisement for them.

He said that i was good to go now that the curfew was lifted since i came in and that took a few minutes longer than the 3 i was early with. Not a big deal but if i wasnt that 3 minutes early, i think i woulda gotten the green light and kept on moving. I was hauling a swimming pool , real light, just 14 foot wide.

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey, as far as I know you just have to obtain apportioned plates and pay IFTA fuel taxes quarterly. The driver also has to at least have a Class B CDL with Air Brakes Endorsement to operate the vehicle. The authority has to also be enrolled in a Drug & Alcohol Consortium for random testing. Hope this answers your question.

      @@GRINDTIMETRUCKING Thanks bro. I know every truck is different but Would you be able to advise how much your truck weights empty? I just need an idea of how much lbs cargo I can carry.

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  5 місяців тому +1

      I think my truck was able to haul just under 15,000 lbs. The way to find out exactly how much weight you can haul is to weigh your truck with a full tank, and all the equipment you’re going to use regularly (load bars/straps, pallet jacks, fluids, etc.). Whatever gross number you get subtract that from 33,000 lbs and that’ll tell you how much weight you can legally haul.
      Being able to haul that extra weight definitely came in clutch for me a few times. Also given that I have a Class A CDL with all my endorsements came in clutch too. I was able to haul hazmat loads and tanker loads.

      So I’d suggest getting a 3 ring binder hand have your cab card, COI, UCR, IFTA registration, the “how to use” page from your ELD manual, and any other permits you’re required to have.
      Whenever you’re pulled in to do an inspection it looks better when you have all of your paperwork neatly organized. So DOT officers will take it easier on you for that very reason. It makes their job a lot easier.
      Another tip I’d give you is whenever you get your oil changed get PM Service done that includes a DOT Inspection. They’re going to inform you if anything that needs to be repaired or replaced that’ll cause you to fail a level 1 inspection. This will prevent you from getting so many violations.
      Also I’d encourage you to pull into a weigh station and request to have a level 1 inspection done on your truck immediately after starting. The reason being is because there are some brokers that will not work with you until you have an inspection on file. Hope this helps!

    Get keep trucking logbook sticker off..thats the red flag..when they see that you know you probably using your phone to log..Missouri scale on 55 at the 18 pulled me in just for that reason to check my logs..inspection and all...passed everything so they got me for tint violation which you can clearly see straight thru

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  2 роки тому +1

      I can definitely see that being the case. I don’t think the issues is using your phone to operate your ELD tho. I believe it’s the fact that a lot of the people using KeepTruckin are new to the industry and end up having a lot more than just log issues. A lot of them don’t have cab binders, properly charged extinguishers, triangles, some are overweight and the list goes on. I’m definitely considering removing them tho. Thanks for the insight! Hopefully you joined The Grind Gang, if so welcome to the family!

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  5 місяців тому

      Legally you have to operate on the same 70 hr work week regardless of how many companies you work for. For example, you work 20 hrs with Company A and 20 hrs with Company B you have worked 40/70 hrs that week. If you get caught running multiple log books you’ll get put out off service and hit with a NASTY violation. If you’re a CDL holder those violations affect your CSA score and can affect insurance rates and companies wanting to hire you. Hope this answers your question.

    That dot was a dick. I learned about this the same way during a roadside inspection. He just taught me the correct way and let me go. He told me even though people can cheat it that way he can still see all my stuff that there were no big gaps in locations. Basically when you run it that way it still says your location when you change duty status. I think you can change your location but if it’s so far he will probably know it’s not all adding up. Just easier to not. I guess it all depends on the officer. Some are cool and some are not. I guess it could be worse since you didn’t get a ticket. But sucks trying to sleep in that little ass cab

    Box trucks get hassled because people cheat with them frequently. Sleeping in the cab of a box truck is not legal, unless it has a separate sleeper berth.

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  2 роки тому +7

      I wouldn’t say they cheat. However I would say there are a lot of people who are just miss informed and ignorant to a lot when it comes to Non CDL box truck and hot shot drivers.
      It’s actually not illegal to sleep in your box truck or hotshot, so long as you log the time as Off Duty and not Sleeper Birth. At the time of recording this video I’d been operating for about 6 months. I got pulled into scale houses several times and on a few occasions given level 3-1 inspections and there was never an issue.
      The only time a sleeper birth is required is when you’re running teams and if you’re trying to slip log (8/2). Other than that it doesn’t matter where you sleep as long as it’s logged as Off-Duty.
      Think about it from this perspective. If it were illegal to sleep in my truck the DOT officer not only would’ve wrote me citations for the 7 days preceding when I slept in the truck. He also would’ve advised me to catch an Uber to a hotel or would’ve gave me a citation once I attempted to leave after sleeping in the truck.
      I once was under the same impression, but I did my due diligence and found out other wise. I definitely appreciate your feedback. Conversations like this helps our industry and community as a whole!

      @jarellesmith4285 Dude, I've never heard it Put as electronic log book mode ir ELD mode. I just know for a fact that your ELD has to be connected to your truck So when your truck is moving the ELD Does changes status automatically, you have no choice As to when you are on duty driving or not, if the truck is moving the ELD itself has to put you in "on duty driving mode".

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING

I had it on electronic log book mode by accident. Once it was changed to ELD mode it automatically put me one the drive line once I started moving.
      For people who don’t drive more than 150 miles from their start point/terminal and want to use a log (because they’re not required to use one) they can use electronic logbook mode and edit everything themselves. Hopefully I explained it well.

If a day cab is stopped and shutdown you can not restart your hours in the truck if you don't have a DOT approved sleeper. It can not be done in the cab of the truck. Same if you rent a Penske over 10K GVW you have to run a log and if your log shows that you have a 10 hour break on that route you have to provide a hotel receipt to prove it wasn't done in the truck. As soon as the clock struck 12 I saw 00:00 blinking red at me saying violation. It scared the hell outta me, so I immediately pulled over to see what was going on.

    What about sleep, I don't see know sleeper on that straight truck, you're going to be pretty tired when it's time to go back to work!

      Great point! I actually sleep in my truck most of the time. I have a sleeping bag and a curtain so that no one can see inside.

    Why would he fuck with you because you were in a boxtruck?Tha t doesn't make sense

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  2 роки тому +2

      So box trucks, hotshots and new authorities running semi setups have been targets more over the past 24 months.
      It’s been super hot for box trucks and hotshot shots because most of the people operating those equipment types are running non CDL setups. By those individuals most likely not having prior industry experience the likelihood of them getting pulled in and getting a violation is significantly higher.
      A lot of these townships thrive off the transportation industry. You can easily get hit with a fine that ranges from $500-$10k.

    Please enough with the music. Didn’t even watch the video because the music was too distracting.

    • @GRINDTIMETRUCKING
      @GRINDTIMETRUCKING  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry to hear that. During the editing process we make sure to assign the vocal track as the master and set the music -12 db to -20 db below the master.
      On another note I think it would be more distracting to watch a 13 minute video of straight background noise.
      There aren’t too many videos from content creators that aren’t gonna have some for of music playing in the background. Moving forward we’ll try to make the music a little more subtle. Thanks for the feedback
