Ullrich smoked 900 ciggies per day during his low in 2018. This shows the all-in mentality of him. Even if doped, you need to want to break your body. It's a mindset
I remember when guys would go to Europe to 'train'. They would come back and be on god level and I was left thinking WTF kind of training are they doing? People would tell me they all dope, but I never actually saw them doping so I didn't know what to think.
IMO Delgado was the first EPO doper. Rode way above his talent level. Delgado team then recruited Indurain. Somehow Indurain always gets a free pass in the doping accusations.
i didnt even realise michel hessman got banned from cycling for doping earlier in the year. swear jumbos media team have kept that super quiet. he had insane potential too
He was tested positive on a masking drug (dieuretics). It does not really make sense for him to dope at this career stage, but who knows. Maybe TJV messed it up
IKR! It isnt like domestiques need to be able to push watts after watts chasing down riders, helping pace leaders in critical moments etc. Makes no sense to use PED's when your job isnt even based on your performances. You get paid for being a nice guy and keeping your cycling shoes in order on the team bus.
@@DurianriderCyclingTips I wrote "at this career stage" as he was not in the position yet. There is strategic doping and dumb juicing. And accidents. A Swiss handball player was tested positive on the same substance but was cleared as he took legal pain meds that were contaminated with diuretics. He had pills left and lab test confirmed it. Manufacturer ran diuretics in the same production line. Diuretics are not performance enhancers but help to get rid of other illegal doping substances.
Jan always struck me as a bit easily led. I get the feeling he was just another doper (like them all) who got caught up in the game early in his career and went with the flow like they all do. It is only his fame and successes that makes it a big news story now he’s admitted it, rather than any hypocrisy generated along the way by shooting his mouth off like LA or Greg. Take your gear, don’t be a dick to people, admit it later, and I’m cool with it.
No wonder my blood always comes back anemic... Cause of busting by bum on training on the bike and run 😅... Looks like i am missing some deca / epo... Thanks Durian!!
I will always believe that lance is one of the greatest cyclists ever, even though people were hating on me for saying that I knew he was doping. I wasn't dissing him, I knew that no clean cyclist could beat all of the top guys who were doping. I lost respect for him as a man when I found out about the people that he hurt in order to further his charade of being a clean cyclist. Jan was always great and Lance's respect for him says everything, because Lance hated his rivals. Dirty or clean, these are incredible athletes.
People don't hate Armstrong because he doped. People that actually knew him, hate him for the way he treated people! You have no clue mate! Talking out of school.
@@Solo-_-.. I know good and decent people who were harmed by Armstrong. A pro conti team that I rode for lost their title sponsor when media leaks and Floyd Landis happened. Why wasn't there EVER a principled man in the sport, who BEFORE he started to use doping (but did notice what was happening), who rang the alarm bell in international media?
Cheating and profiting off of your fellow man, in any walk of life, is a choice to be made that sets us on one path or another. Good/Bad, Right/Wrong. Which do you feel is the better path to take in competitive sports?
I love the sport, at this point any winner of the TDF, Vuelta, Giro whose been stripped of their overalls during that time are the clear winners, why give it to 2nd place, they likely doped as well. I'm hoping the sport is cleaner now, but I'm sure their are still remants still lurking. I think the biggest problem now is that the same products are being promoted to the regular public, and this is much more dangerous.

Only US Postal went after Armstrongs money for their sponsorships in those years! I think he paid something like USD 20m? Still peanuts I would guess for Armstrong.

2003 tdf was epic
I stayed at Cat III because I wouldn't take the foolish risk of doping in the 1980's. Some people had ethics through the entire decade.

Nah it was Lemond. EPO was first sold in California in 1984.

yea... they all did. And Lance should have his TDFs restored, or the winners after 92' need to have theirs removed too.
So is Pog Doped?
Euros dont take PED's.
