Such nice images ! I like the way the lens renders the skin. Have you heard of the Light lens lab speed Panchro II ? I feel like it renders quite similarly.
Thank you! The Biotar 75mm is not out yet, so I don't know it. But I'm pretty sure that lens will have a swirl that is going outward, instead of inward like the primoplan. And it will probably have some barrel distortion...In the video review of the Biotar 58mm F1.5, there are some comparison clips between the Primoplan 58mm F1.9 and Biotar 58mm F1.5. That will help you understand what I'm talking about. Cheers!
The Primoplan lenses (58, 75) which I have been playing with:) for a year now, are impressive for the control of “Longitudinal chromatic aberrations” when properly exposed. It’s the spherical aberrations that are unleashed to deliver that glow in the highlights. The low contrast wide open still contains information that can be manipulated, not crippled by veiling glare like some vintage lenses. They do exhibit some breathing, but When used as a taking lens with the Iscorama 54 mc that disappears and they become a freaking joy to use. Your review was enlightening and entertaining. The Trioplan 35 looks interesting, a possible candidate for real world testing and explorations?
Hey John! Yeah I agree 100%, I love that with these lenses we can have a really clean bokeh! The trioplan seems like another amazing lens, I'll try to make a video review about it! Cheers!
Brilliant review Luca! I would love to see how it pairs with the 50mm/58mm by Meyer Optik Gorlitz, which I've heard is not quite as stunning as the 75mm. M.O.G. should send you some copies to review based on how wonderful this video is.
Thanks! I only had a Voigtlander Ultron SL II 40mm F2 that I ended up selling. It wasn't bad, but I prefer to use another 40mm pancake lens from the past.
I am really glad that they make this lens with an M42 mount as well. I am currently using Fuji, but that does not mean I will always shoot Fuji... so I preper not to be invested completely in that system. I have many vintage M42 lenses that I love using and have a focal reducer-speed booster for those. so in case I decide to switch camera, I only need to get a different focal reducer. would love to find a review where they pair this lens with a speed booster!!!
The speed boosters are always changing the original performances of the lenses, so you'll probably getting different results than me. I'm glad you also like this lens...I find it very beautiful and unique! Cheers!
Great review Luca, question pls, is there any big difference compared to leica r 90mm mounted with isco ultra star red? Should I get get one for my anamorphic setup and replace it with my Leica r 90mm, second question, you said cenimatic, how far is compared to leica r or zeiss Contax planar 85mm 1.4? Worth to get one and pay almost 1k
Yo! Imho, the lens is worth the money. There are no vintage lenses that have this look, at this price point. The Leica r 90mm has less character than the Primoplan...there will be projects where you want a clean look and projects where you want a more interesting look, so it's up to you. Ideally you should have both of them. In terms of "cinematic look", I prefer the Primoplan 75mm over the planar 85 and cron r 90mm...mostly because of the 15 aperture blades, it has an interesting bokeh and it doesn't suffer from color fringing. If you pass by Amsterdam I can let you try the lens ;)
This one reminds me Helios 44-2 I have used with m4/3 system. It's also a gret lens too. And besides it's very cheap. I've spent around 50 euros for it. Definately gonna look at this one. Thank you Luca!
3:35 ..........will always provide a round "circle" not bokeh. A bokeh is either soft or hard not edgy or circular. This is what happens when you learn English on internet.
Thanks for the information! From Wikipedia = Bokeh is a photographic term that describes the blur of the out-of-focus area in an image. I do see the shape of the bokeh not only on specular highlights, but also in the whole foreground and background. That’s something I noticed with C/Y Zeiss lenses, famous for the ninja star bokeh
If you've found this video helpful, I will really appreciate a like to the video! 👍🏻
Great video. Love your examples and the fact it’s straight to the point.
Thank you! ✌🏻
Wow! Impressive images you captured with that lens! I'm sold
Thanks mate!
Excellent video 😊!
Thank you very much!
Such an inspiring review! ✨👌
Thank you so much!
Just when you got me to choose the Voightlander, you upload this! :p nice work :)
The voigtlander is a lovely lens...the problem is that there are too many lovely lenses out there ahahah! Cheers!
Such nice images ! I like the way the lens renders the skin. Have you heard of the Light lens lab speed Panchro II ? I feel like it renders quite similarly.
Yeah this lens is truly beautiful! I never heard of Light Lens Lab, sorry 😅
Great review. What is the difference between this and the biotar 75mm also by MOG?
Thank you! The Biotar 75mm is not out yet, so I don't know it. But I'm pretty sure that lens will have a swirl that is going outward, instead of inward like the primoplan. Bellissimo video ! E fantastica lente !
Grazie mille Sandro!

Great suggestion mate! Thank you so much for watching!
Many thanks, Luca! Never heard about this interesting brand! 🤔 Did you tried Voigtlander's lenses?
Thanks! I only had a Voigtlander Ultron SL II 40mm F2 that I ended up selling. It wasn't bad, but I prefer to use another 40mm pancake lens from the past.
Could you tell what Isco ultra star do you have and how to mount it with this lens? I'd like to try anamorphic as well :)

Hi Luca, thanks for the review. Nice shots! Which anamorphic adapter are you using for the primoplan? Is it the iscorama 54 from Schneider Kreuznach?
Hi buddy! I've used the Isco Ultra Star 2x anamorphic scope. Cheers!
@@LucaBono.Studio Have you used a variable diopter with ISCO and the primoplan? If yes, how is the vignette?
@@dimoskalteziotis5461 No, I didn't. I've bought an iscorama instead of a VD...I think I like more the 1.42x squeeze in full frame
Very nice video! did you get to experience any swirly bokeh with the 75mm?
Thank you Robert! Yes, the lens produce a swirly bokeh if you place the subject at 1.5m and you've a busy background at 4/5m far. Cheers!
It's even better on GFX :)
Oh nice. I should try it too!
What is the minimum focus distance?
0.75m ✌

I also have the helios 44-2 and I like it, but this Primoplan is playing on a totally different league...both lenses don't match much together
Nice!
Thanks ✌🏻
These are some awesome images! What anamorphic adapter did you say that you are using?
Thanks mate! Isco ultra star gold
🔥🔥🔥 shame on you for getting us interested in another lens.
Ahahah! I'm just showing what are the options, to let you understand what look you like the most! Cheers!
👍👍
Ciao Peppuzzo!

You are talking about cinematic look but you need to show it through comparisons with other lenses
You can check the last video reel I've posted, if you need to see how it compares next to other lenses. Cheers!
