The score was Hillhouse of New Haven,CT 71 Cardinal Hayes of the Bronx,NY 64. Wasn't as close as it looked but it was a tough game. Both teams played pretty well. New Haven schools have an unbelievable record against out of state teams going back to the 1920s. Near total dominance. Played many of the best known schools up and down the east coast. Too many to name. People just don't think of Connecticut high school hoops that way even during the glory years of the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Since that time it has been at a slightly lower level but appears to be back big time since 2004 to present.

I was at this game Stepinac was up 15 at one point in the first half butt the boogie down Bronx boys went to work on them.
