    Our Rating System:
    We rate albums out of 10. Any album that scores 8 or higher gets a Toe Tag. If an album gets Two Toe Tags then it gets added to the list in the link above. We do not review EP's but we may cover them in our New Release videos should they come up.
    In regards to our Reaction videos:
    As many of you know UA-cam can be an unpredictable and often unfair place when it comes to copyright rules and their enforcement. If our video ends up getting cut due to copyright reasons it will be labeled in the title as a Review rather than a Reaction. The music video portion of the video will be cut out and you will only see our before and after thoughts. Unfortunately this is the best we can do under those circumstances and we would appreciate a Like rating on our videos to help us overcome any negative algorithmic affects.

    I love the intro song. Sounds like something from a 60's grocery store jingle that plays on loop while you do your shopping

    Nice reaction!
    References to another videos: the statue was in Legend of Avatar Country: A Metal Odyssey, Tim have magic guitar like in The King Wants You, and Kungen policeman with a truncheon again like in Smells like a Freakshow!😍😍😍Also retro vibes like in films with Julie Andrews.
    It was supposed to be a band performance, but everyone is slowly turning into monkeys (except John, he's a cat) like werewolves. With a bunch of references to famous monkeys like King Kong, Кoko the gorilla, etc. Yeah, Johannes was supposed to be playing Кoko the gorilla with a kitten at the end. Also, the song used to be called simply Chimp. But John persuaded to expand the name.

    Okay I am completely out of the loop. Why has the singer just copied Alice Cooper’s make up, wardrobe, props and moves? Is it a statement? Homage? It’s weird. They don’t sound like Alice but all the aesthetics are 1:1. I mean I understand adopting aspects from your influences but this goes well beyond that. What’s the story?

    • @lilrejct
      @lilrejct Рік тому

      it started from their music music video for 'Black Waltz' where he was dressed up to fit a circus aesthetic, but when they saw the way it all looked they decided that it would be their image

    • @bradarnold7834
      @bradarnold7834 Рік тому

      @@lilrejct Well, if it’s not intentional homage then they’re sadly lacking in originality or creativity. “Their image” is 100% stolen from Alice. It’s not just using the exact same face paint and wardrobe. He’s even copying moves from Alice. Maybe those moves just come naturally when you’re prancing around in a cane but Alice has done them on stage for 40 years. The music isn’t bad - though it’s not particularly original either, the execution is decent - but it’s like some band deciding that their aesthetic was wearing KISS costumes on stage and telling everyone they thought of it themselves.

      @@bradarnold7834 what are you on about. They didn't 'steal' anything from Alice Cooper. The eye makeup and costumes look nothing alike. Wearing black around your eyes and mouth and circus outfits just means they took inspiration from the black metal scene and dark carnival look, the latter of which is something Alice himself did. By that logic Alice 'stole' his look from Screaming Lord Sutch and Arthur Brown.
      Do yourself a favour and watch more Avatar (and Misfits, Mayhem, Mercyful Fate etc etc) before you jump to conclusions based on one video. Turbonegro, Motley Crue and Ghost have more in common with AC than Avatar does with type of music and aesthetic.
      If these guys were doing the horror glam rock thing with a raspy vocal and guillotines and snakes on stage etc then that would be grounds for your argument but Avatar are a cross-genre death metal band that took their influence from bands like In Flames and Ministry. They've come down a completely different music branch.
      So I'm a fan of Alice Cooper but the two are absolutely nothing alike.

      @bradarnold7834 Рік тому

      @@kleptoandpyro I didn’t say the music was alike. I said the aesthetic was. And it’s not just “oh everyone wears makeup”. I’m well aware of all the bands using make up. I’ve seen Misfits live multiple times. I’ve seen Ghost, I’ve seen Black Veil Brides (Not a fan, it was a festival) and my best friend growing up was a huge Merciful Fate/King Diamond fan. Avatar’s music may come from a different place than Alice (though as a long time Ministry fan I don’t get that comp at all) but that doesn’t change the fact he’s using nearly the same makeup design Alice has been using for decades - it’s not just generic corpse paint or something.
      And paired with the brimmed black hat, the cane, the long tailed jacket - the whole circus ringmaster vibe - it literally looks like he’s cosplaying Alice. And yes, you are correct that Alice may have lifted his look and act from Lord Such but Such had only been around a few years when Alice emerged and I have no idea if Alice was aware of Such or not. I wasn’t alive and the world was a lot less connected then. But regardless of who inspired Alice, Alice has now been around for 50+ years and everyone is well aware of who he is and what his act looks like - including the guy from Avatar who I’ve now read proclaiming “I’m not Alice Cooper. This isn’t a clown show.” While basically donning Alice’s stage persona.
      It’s just weird, man. If he would just own it and say it was an homage to someone/something he loved in his youth it would look way better than claiming he was trying to be original and failing.

      @@bradarnold7834 I hear you but I honestly can't really see it. For me it's two very different flavours. Alice's makeup is typically racoon eyes with a single or multiple black rivulets down and black rivulets from the corners of his mouth. Johannes puts red and black harlequin diamonds around his eyes and completely paints over his lips and points the corners up like a clown mouth. Hank from Hell of Turbonegro did a direct homage to Alice with his look but with Johannes it feels straight up dark clown/court jester.
      Sure they both do the ringleader thing with the cane and the hat and tails but, in Johannes' own words, the look came after listening to their Black Waltz album. He was pissing around making the music video dressed as a clown as a one off and it stuck with them. And you have the HellzaPoppin circus sideshow (that also appeared in the Black Waltz video) that probably further inspired their transition into the circus/freakshow aesthetic - Johannes' early makeup looks very similar to Bryce Graves imo.
      I think what I'm trying to say is - there's some minor overlap, sure, but I think the two looks were just inspired from the same place, rather than one copying the other.
