Sound check Before and After Baffle Removal on Stock Bike
Distance was checked by a tape measure, 10 Feet 6 inches from the top of the exhaust tip opening to the microphone.
Slip-ons are a great way to go and there is a set I'd love to get, but I cant afford the $ sticker price. For now, to get the Indian to sound better than my lawn mower, this is a great alternative

I did the same thing to my Scout. Stopped at the first baffle. You can actually hear it while cruising now. Only a touch louder than stock at idle. Very glad I did it. Greta video

    Great video.
A suggestion: drill out first set of baffles; then put some miles on. The heat and pressure through the exhaust will expand the aperture a bit and increase the flow - and the sound (making it louder and ‘throatier’).
See how you like that sound; should be noticeably different from stock.
If you desire. a louder output volume, bore out the primary baffles, and your pipes will have an even more voice.

    Thanks for this.
I kind of like what I heard with 1 baffle out.
I might try removing just one baffle from each pipe and test it for a week or so... I just want it a little louder.

Love the detailed video, best I've seen so far. Has there been a change in the bike's performance since you removed the baffles? Thanks for sharing.

Hey, thanks for doing as good a job as ive seen/heard, on this topic. Still a bit hard to tell from the mikes and playback that I have just how much difference that there is. Clearly a bigger change from no removal to one. I will start with one and compare with a Db meter. A complaint that I see is that people are not happy with many of the after market exhausts available as being too loud. I don’’t want that. I want it louder but not crazy loud. The best slippons that I have heard is the Rolland Sands. But they are now out of production. Too bad. Again really appreciate the comparison and your efforts to keep it as “scientific “ as you could.

Sounds great I think for the price of a couple cheap tools. Great video, thanks!

Great video! I drilled my first set and enjoy the difference. It sounds meaty on start up and sings at high revs. Doing both I was told requires a remapping but who knows?

I just took out the first set, and I really like how it sounds. I think I'm going to ride it for a couple weeks and then decide. Did you stop at just the first set?

I went a different way, pull end caps Off
    Pull Complete Baffles out
Remove the Fibreglass wrapping from around the Baffles
    Re Install baffles
    Put end caps back on
    AMAZING SOUND compared to Stock.

I pulled my baffles out as well on the Shorty Slip-ons. I found out doing this will require a re-tune on the engine. This is due to the pipes not having any back pressure. Without the tune they don’t sound so great. Super loud and poppy - even to the point of backfiring. So…I put the baffles back in 🤷‍♂️.

@@joelashby45he didn't pull the baffles. He took the wrapping off and put them back in. The wrapping is there to essentially quiet them.

Nice shooting. This definetly helped me make up my mind about whether or not I was going to just pipe the kit or take the baffles out. I thought it was going to be harder than that. How long did it take you from start to finish?

    • @hwtsforge8547

Thanks. The actual process to remove the baffles was quite easy. I'd say from the time I started drilling to the time I finished all 4 plugs was about 10 minutes. But since I had to stop and record and note the weather and of course go for a ride. All in all it was about 4 hours.
